Stephen’s POV

Yesterday, after all the drama, I reached 3in Ryan’s office when he told me, ‘'Beta Stephen, I found something.’
“What’s it? I hope whatever it is, and it should be useful.”, I said, recalling my insult again and again.
“Well, it is.”
“Finally, I found a proof against her.”, I muttered, waiting for him to confirm the same.
“Actually, it is not any proof against Ms. Williams.”, he said reluctantly, looking at me to read my expression.
“Then?”
“It’s against Luna of Silver Moon Pack, in short, her mother.”, he said and played the recording in which she had talked with some vampire named SILAS to kill Evangeline.
It meant that the attack was never for Daniel. It was for Eva and Daniel fell in it. Why didn’t I think in this way before?
But why would she want to kill Eva in the first place?
I played the recording again. She had not mentioned Aleena’s name anywhere. So, was that possible that I doubted her for no reason? Maybe she was really innocent, and I treated her like a criminal.
The single thought made me feel remorse.
Just like everyone says, ‘It is better to let the crime of a guilty person go unpunished than to condemn the innocent.’
“Do you find anything else?” I asked him, on which he shook his head. “Keep a tab on her phone all the time. I will have to stay ahead of her planning in case she plans something against Eva because she is going to be the Luna of the pack and my brother’s mate. And on the top, Eva being a hybrid adds one more reason why someone will want to kill her. I don’t want to see Daniel in the same situation in which I was once. Because I know how hard it is to stay without a mate.”, I said, recalling Diana, my fated mate. It had been five years, five fucking years without her. I barely got a chance to know her when we met at a ball dance party arranged by the werewolves king to invite all the unmated males and females so that they could find their mate.
I remembered how lost and broken I was then when I found my mate's lifeless body between the hundreds of dead bodies. I shook my head, trying to push those memories away from distracting me from my work.”
“I got it. What about Ms. Williams? Are you sure that she has nothing to do with her?” he asked.
“To be honest, I’m not sure right now. Maybe she was involved in this situation, maybe not. Because an appalled doesn’t fall far away from the tree. As for now, we don’t have any proof against her because she might be using the mind link to contact her mother. All we have to do now is to lay a trap.”, I said, thinking about the situation.
As per Eva, no one knew about her being a hybrid except her father.
It meant that they weren’t planning to kill Eva because she was a hybrid.
And recalling the recording of that call, the vampire approached that place because they were asked to kill a human, not a hybrid.
So, what else could be the reason behind planning her murder?
“If anyone asks about me, then tell them that I went out for some word.”, I said to Ryan and picked up the phone to dispatch to its original place. Everything should look normal just like before because if anyone would find out that something was fishy, then they would be alert, and that was the last thing I wanted to happen. Taking that scent hiding perfume again, I left the pack.

At night!!
I came to know that Daniel was mad at Eva because she didn’t say a word to her sister when she was insulting me.
Like seriously?
Were they spoiling their relationship because of Aleena and me? I didn’t rub my nose on the ground to see all this. I could just hope that this wasn’t serious because I seriously didn’t want to be the reason for their fights, and then I looked at that Powerpuff.
What did she think when she brought Eva between everything?
Was she really wanted her sister to reject her own mate?
But why would she do anything like that?
I didn’t get a chance to think about this when Daniel's mind linked all of us, ‘Angel has mistakenly used salt instead of sugar in the cake. So, make sure that no one will tell her anything about it and hurt her in many ways. Her Lycan, Ivory, can sense the lie, so compliment her efforts that she put into preparing the cake or compliment the cake design or flavor of it in such a way that it wouldn’t be actually a lie. In short, we don’t have to lie but to hide the truth.’
Everyone agreed to it. ‘And I swear if her sister tells her the truth, then I will throw her out of pack house, right now, right here.’ Roman growled in anger since she wasn’t from our pack, so we couldn’t share what we had decided.
But thankfully, she didn’t tell her the truth and went with the flow.

After Dinner!!
‘Stephen, Both Eva and me will leave from the pack tomorrow early morning.’, Daniel informed me through the mind link.
‘Okay. But where?’
‘I have to meet with her family.’
‘Her family as in Alpha Francis Williams’s pack, right?’ I asked.
‘No. Her real family.’
‘What do you mean, Daniel? Just don’t beat around the bush and tell me the truth.’
‘Her parents and her brother along with a few other vampires.’,
‘You’re joking, right?’ I asked as if he had gone insane. And how come Eva’s family members were the vampires in the first place?
I must say that the Luna of the pack had a lot of secrets.
I didn’t ask anything about her family members from him but being a werewolf, and he was going to meet vampires, our enemies, who wanted nothing but to kill us at mare sight of us.
‘Don’t worry about me so much, Stephen. They are my in-laws. Moreover, before marrying Eva, I needed to talk with them as well. I’m sharing all these things which you so that you won’t freak out like others, and at the same time, being a beta, you should know where your Alpha is going.’
‘Are you sure that you want to risk your life? Because vampires loath us.’ I asked again for reconfirmation.
‘As pretty much as sure that I will be marking my mate the day after tomorrow night after proposing to her.’, he said, getting excited.
‘Fine then! But you will have to problem me that you will update about you being alive after every one hour and not just that I needed to know where are going!!’
‘Noted, father.’
‘Just come in one piece, okay?’
‘I promise. I will. Eva trusts them, and I trust in the faith that she had in them. Otherwise, even you know that I’m not a big fan of vampires too.’
‘Okay.’
‘Good night, now. My mate is glaring at me because I was ignoring her because of you.’, he joked before closing the mind link. I didn’t want to get jealous of him but seeing him with his mate was making me realize that now there would be no one by my side to hang out with. Not that I wanted Daniel to leave her mate and enjoy his time with me, but I knew along with time, everyone was going to settle with his or her mate and then with their children, and I would be left alone to deal with my loneliness.
I shook my head from that part and got back to work mode.
‘Ryan, did you find something?’
‘Not yet. Don’t worry about it, Beta. I will not miss a single second to inform you when I will find anything. She is a werewolf. I’m sure half of her work can be completed through the mind link itself.’
‘I know, but at the same time, I doubt that someone from Silver Moon Pack will think of hurting Eva, knowing that she is Alpha’s favorite child, but again, expectations are always there. We can’t trust anyone.’
‘Agree.’,

Next Morning!!
When Daniel and Eva left the pack, all the people in my family were sleeping except me, of course. Only I knew how much my hands were itching to send some guards with him, but then he wanted to keep this family as their daughter’s mate, not as an Alpha.
“I know you’re worried about your brother, Stephen. But trust me, I will bring back your brother and your Alpha in one piece, and there is no way I will let anything happen to him, unlike the previous time.”, Eva assured me. “And I give you my words about that part.”
Her words helped me a bit, not that much, but then Thunder tried to convince me that I was getting worried for no reason when Eva was assuring me.
“When no one in Daniel’s family has any problem with me being half-vampire, then why do you think my family will have any problem with my mate? Not all vampires kill werewolves unnecessarily. Moreover, my real father was once a hybrid, so neither he nor other people in the family hate werewolves.”
So, Alpha Francis Williams wasn’t her real father.
Wow! Only Moon Goddess knew how many secrets were still there to be revealed.
“I will share everything with everyone once I am back.”, she said with a smile. “So, don’t use your brain unnecessarily or try to dig my past because if you do so, you won’t find a thing.”
“All right. Just keep me updating about everything at the interval of every one hour.”
“Noted, Father!” Daniel said sarcastically before leaving with Eva. Everything was fine at the beginning of starting seven hours until Mom's mind linked me and asked me to take powderpuff for the shopping.
I made a mental note to take a avenge her for the insult she did. And just after we left the pack border, she was crying, pleading, beginning in front of me.
Trust me, and it was music to my ear until I smelt her tears. It made me realize that I was crossing my boundaries. My parents had never taught me to make any female cry and also not to misbehave with them. So, I didn’t need to sideline my morals and values for someone who wasn’t worth it.
When I parked the car in the parking lot of the mall, I saw her walking in the opposite direction whether others cars had been parked instead of walking toward the elevator that was going to take us to the ground floor of the mall.
‘Where is she going?’ Thunder asked.
‘Do I look like I care?’
‘She is our responsibility as for now. And don’t forget that if anything happens to her or if she acts like something really happened to her, then everyone will get a chance to speak rubbish things about us again and being a woman, everyone will look into the factor that she is the real victim over here.’, Thunder said, making his point valid. I sighed, knowing that he was right.
I followed her scent and found her with Alpha Liam, who was just in his jean. And the smell of sex was coming out of his body. I didn’t have to go closer to see what was happening over there because of my superhuman listening power.
I didn’t want to feel bad for her, but still, I did when I saw her getting rejected. But then, it was better to stay without a mate instead of having a mate like Alpha Liam, who started regretting his mate the moment he came to know that she was an Alpha female.
‘Something is wrong with her.’, Thunder said, and that’s when my eyes switched to Aleena from Alpha Liam. She was in pain because of the rejection, and it looked like she would pass out at any moment. I wasted no time in reaching near her to save her ass from kissing the ground and warned Alpha Liam to stay away from her.
I could clearly see that he wanted to claim her back, but that was not happening. Not until she gets normal.
Well, when I placed her into the car to take her to the pack, I wasn’t expecting her wolf to come over the surface out of the blue. I looked at her one blue and one golden eye, which was …… so different and shining like a jewel.
Generally, the werewolves with blue eyes were the blessed child of the Moon Goddess and were more powerful than the others.
‘I think she has blue eyes because of Eva’s blood. Didn’t you remember her mentioning the fact that she had given Aleena her blood?’ Thunder pointed out.
‘Yeah!’
Looking into the eyes of her wolf, I could say that she didn’t want to return to the pack and wanted to spend some alone time. Just like she did the other night, as Aleena had mentioned in her trail. I took her to the Snowfall pack, which was my favorite place where I love to spend time alone between the natures, enjoying the greeneries and the sound of the river water and the birds.
‘And for the first time, we have brought someone here.’, Thunder said, getting excited.
‘Why are you getting excited about it? I haven’t brought her on a date.’, I responded, eyeing my wolf was getting excited with the chance of spending time with someone whose situation was almost the same as his. The only difference was that it had been five years since our pain, and her pain was still fresh.
At the same time, I saw her shifting into her wolf form; I didn’t believe the pack warriors when they said that they saw a beautiful wolf of black color with a mixture of her tail and paws completely white.
‘She is beautiful, isn’t she?’
‘She is.’
‘Come on! Let’s accompany her, or she would spend her time crying just like she was doing in the car.’
‘And why are you being so friendly with her?’
‘We animals don’t have to find a reason to help someone, unlike selfish humans.’, he resorted. I sighed, knowing that he was right about that part, and stripped behind the car and placed those clothes in the car before shifting and giving him full control.
In the beginning, everything was great so far. They both enjoyed their time together. Unlike me, being a serious person all the time, Thunder was playful and jovial. At the same time, unlike Aleena, her wolf was not evil and cunning. It looked like she rarely came out because by her look, I could tell that she had never bath in the river before or played with other wolves before. Maybe I was overthinking, but it looked like Thunder was her first friend.
But how was that possible?
Aleena was 22 years old, and it meant her wolf would have experienced everything in the last four years. Thunder wanted to know more about her. And only I knew how much my wolf wanted to talk to her but couldn’t because neither she was from our pack nor our mate.
I didn’t have any problem with him getting friendly with her wolf until he fucking LICKED her face.
‘Thunder.’, I growled at him.
‘Can you please not disturb me at this moment?’ he asked in a calm tone.
‘She’s Aleena’s wolf. It’s fine till friendship, but this is going away farther than that.’, I reminded him. But he ignored me and licked her again. I could see that even her wolf was thinking in the same way as me when she shook her head and stepped away from us.
Thankfully, someone was intelligent over here, but Thunder being Thunder, her signal didn’t stop him from doing what he had decided. After a while, he convinced her by nuzzling against her soft fur.
I mentally slapped myself, seeing them spending time romantically.
I didn’t want to ruin Thunder's moment, but he needed to accept the things practically. Otherwise, he would be the one who gets hurt the most.
I wondered how Aleena was letting her wolf do whatever she wanted for this long, and immediately her wolf stood on her paw, sensing something that we couldn’t.
‘What’s wrong? There is no sign of any danger.’
She licked his wolf quickly and started running. We followed her and found her running toward the car. What happened to her all of a sudden?
We couldn’t understand that part until she shifted and acted like she was sleeping. We were almost going to ask her after shifting about everything when a pair of hazel eyes looked at us.
Thunder growled inside my brain in anger while I chose to wear my clothes as long as she was trying to wake up from her deep slumber.
‘She didn’t even say a proper goodbye.’, he complained furiously.
At the same time, I was pissed by Aleena’s presence again. I was also pissed at Thunder. I was also pissed at her wolf. In fact, I was pissed at the entire world.
And somehow, Aleena sensed that and kept her mouth closed throughout the ride. When she sensed that I was taking her to the pack, she reminded me about her shopping.
Immediately I remembered her wolf’s word, ‘Shopping is not my thing.’
Moon Goddess! Thunder’s feelings and thoughts started affecting me already. By nature, wolves were believed to be very affectionate to their mates. Usually displayed most by the alpha pair. In our case, we didn’t have a mate, so licking someone else was a big thing.
I couldn’t help but wonder whether Aleena was going through the same issue just like mine. I guess NOT. Because it looked like she had no idea about anything.
While she was busy shopping, Daniel's mind linked to me.
‘The meeting which her family went well.’, he informed.
‘Will you please stop irritating me by mind linking me after every hour?’ I snapped out of nowhere. He was disturbing me throughout the time when I was with her wolf, and now that we were not together, I was feeling irritated, and Daniel’s voice in my mind added fuel to my irritation level.
‘What’s wrong? You were the one who asked me to keep updating you about everything.’, Daniel said, and I cursed under my breath.
‘I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have reacted in that way.’
‘No. It’s fine to show your irritation, but I want to know what’s wrong? Why you and Thunder are on the edge of breaking someone’s neck?’
‘It’s nothing.’
‘I’m not going to update my location and other things then.’, he blackmailed.
‘Nothing, just getting irritated by Aleena’s shopping.’, I responded, which was not a complete lie.
‘Don’t worry, just four days more, including today, and after that, she won’t be staying in our pack anymore.’, Daniel informed, and immediately Thunder whimpered with that news. ‘You can start others to start arranging for the Luna Ceremony on 10th June.’
‘That’s great news. Congratulations’, I said, feeling happing from him.
‘Thank you. I will share this news with others on 9th June. So, until then, keep the piece of information to only those people whom you can trust.
‘I got it.’, I said and then closed the mind link.
‘Won’t we get a chance to spend some time with her again?’ Thunder asked me as if I knew the answer to his question.
‘How do I know that?’
‘Why don’t you try to get closer to her, human?’
‘You have lost your mind, Thunder. Me and her? Never happening. NEVER.’
