Aleena’s POV

Without wasting a second, we took Eva to the hospital. Everyone was praying that nothing wrong would happen with that little pup who was the source of happiness in everyone's life even before his or her arrival. From the moment this had happened, Roman was in control of Daniel’s body, and he was literally pissed.
I couldn’t be sure that I was the one with whom he was pissed or Eva or the doctor who was not telling anytime to him or the people around him or himself or the whole world.
‘Aleena is also my baby.’ Her words were ringing in my ears like an alarm that was not letting me sit calmly. Even at this stage, he was thinking about me. Tears rolled out of my eyes, recalling that moment, but it never landed because Stephen wiped it in the middle.
“Both her pup and she will be fine.”, he answered my unasked question. “I know her. She is a way stronger than anyone could think of.”, he whispered, hugging me and rubbing my back. “Only you were the one who considered her weak all your life.”, he joked, making me cry.
I always took her for granted, called her names like BITCH, STUPID, IDIOT, PLAIN, WEAKLING, and many more, but the reality was that I should be the one to deserve to be called those names. She was always the best sister to me, but all I considered was my enemy, who thought of her as a person who kept dad away from me.
While the truth was that it was never her but it.
I was the reason for everything that happened while I always blamed her.
Even after the dad’s death, I realized my mistake, but I acted stubbornly and didn’t apologize to her for my behavior. I didn’t apologize to the person who was always there for me as my second mother, who always saved my ass from getting kicked.
I wondered why do I realize the value of the person when I’m close to losing him or her?
First, dad.
Now, Eva.
The very first thing that I would do once Eva would be awake was to apologize to her. Though I didn’t deserve her forgiveness still, I would apologize to her with the hope that she would forgive me someday, and I would be ready to do anything to make things right.
“I won’t be able to forgive myself if anything happens to her pup.”, I admitted the truth. I literally didn’t consider myself that important for whom a mother could risk her pup’s life. I hadn’t done one damn good thing in my life because of which an innocent deserve to sacrifice his or her life.
“Remember one thing, Lina. Whatever happens, you will not be the reason for anything. It was Eva’s choice to choose you over her pup, and she knew what she was doing, okay?” he tried to console me, but I shook my head, not agreeing with her, and sobbed. “Trust me, Lina. She really knew, after all, she could control the time, she could see what was going to happen and which had happened?”
“WHAT?”
“Yes. That’s what her vampire gift is.’
It took me a while to understand what exactly Stephen had said. She had the gift to see what was going to happen and which had happened.
Did this mean she always knew? She always knew what I was planning or what I was going to do?
‘Yes!’, This type, it was not Stephen who answered, but Leia did, and along with that, she gave me something else, a vision. A vision of Ivory and Leia’s first conversation.

‘My name is Ivory. I’m Evangeline’s Lycan wolf. I am waiting for the opportunity when could finally talk to you, my little sister.’
‘You..you. How can you enter my mind? And Aleena and Eva is sister. We are not sisters.’
‘Even we are sisters because my blood runs in your vein because of which your paws and tails are white. Not only that, your one’s color is similar to mine. So, never, never ever mention that we aren’t sisters.’,
‘Now, coming back to your previous question, I can enter your mind anytime because you’re the part of me. It was just that I didn’t want your human to know about us.’
‘How… how did you know that it’s me who is in the control of her body?’
‘Perk of Evangeline’s gift. Evangeline’s vampire part has the gift of controlling time. Well, not just that she can control time. She can do a lot of things like time travel, seeing the future, and many more things related to time. That’s why I knew that you were going to take control of Aleena’s body. Yes! I know what will happen in the next moment, but if you’re going to ask anything about your future, then I can’t tell you that. But remember that the future isn’t set in stone, and even if it was, the stone could be broken.’
‘Does it mean that you know what Aleena is planning for the future?’ I asked.
‘Yes! I know. In fact, from the moment Eva learned to control her powers, from that time, she always knew about everything, Aleena’s each and every plan against her.’
‘And she did nothing against it? She even let those vampires hurt Daniel?’
‘She can see the future and can time travel doesn’t mean it’s a cool power. Sometimes, she has to let those things happen that she doesn’t want to so that there is no alteration in the fate of other people's life. Every incident is related to one other. If she changes one thing, then what the god had decided for that person can be changed too. Daniel’s injury was important because it was related to the death of those vampires. ‘I doubt that she will because as much as I know, she loves her younger sister a lot even though she knows that Aleena considers her nothing but a bitch.’
‘Okayyy!! One last question, Moon Goddess told me that I’m chosen to be someone’s guardian. I didn’t understand that part. Can you please elaborate on that part? Because guardian means a person who protects or defends something. And as far as I know, my human, she is the selfish bitch and only thinks about her. She will always think about protecting and defending herself.’
‘You are chosen by Evangeline to be our guardian.’)

“Does that mean that she also knew about dad’s death?” I couldn’t help asking Stephen. I get it that she always knew what I was planning against her. She was always one step ahead of me, and she let the things happen in a way so that I would think that I was winning, but that was not the truth. It was never, in fact. Now back to the question that I had asked Stephen, I wondered whether she knew about dad’s death? There was a high chance that she did.
I looked at Stephen, and he looked as if he was in great thought about whether to answer me or not.
“Do you know what? Don’t answer that question because your silence answered me everything.”, I added, gritting my teeth.
“Before you start thinking anything evil about it, I want to clear something, Lina. I, too, had misunderstood her when you were stabbed, but I got my answer immediately when I asked her instead of making an assumption. Do you know what did she answer me, ‘I tried, Stephen. I tried. I told him what was coming next for him and also told him his death impacted Aleena. But do you know what he asked me to do? To not change a thing. It was not that he wanted anyone of us to see in pain, most importantly his little princess, because he knew his death would affect her the most. But it was the last part of his job as a father.
I couldn’t stop anyone’s death, but if not today, then that person will die tomorrow or the day after tomorrow because that’s his fate. In fact, even with all these powers, I couldn’t save my mate in another timeline (readers can read Alpha’s Last Minute bride to understand it in a better way). And if I would go back in time change the past and deeds which will create another timeline and the story of that timeline will change, not in this timeline because you will have to endure every punishment of the sin in this life.’ So, my dear wifey, you shouldn’t take things in another way. It was dad’s decision, to begin with, okay?”
“Hmm”
‘For the first time in your life, someone is guiding you in the right way; otherwise, at this moment, your mind always thinks in a negative way.’, Leia said, and she had a valid point.
“Step-sister or not, she is your only family from your parent’s side. And family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs, the one who accepts you for who you are. The one who would do anything to see you smile and who loves no matter what because blood may be thicker than water, but love is thicker than anything. And I don’t have to tell you how much Eva loves you.”, he said and kissed my forehead.

He was really something.
“If I tell anyone that you cry so much in my arms, then no one will believe me.”, he said, wiping my tears.
Even I couldn’t understand why do I act like this near him?
‘Why does he make me feel vulnerable?’
‘It’s not him who makes you feel vulnerable. It’s you who choose to be vulnerable around him.’, Leia corrected. ‘In short, it’s not him. It’s you.’ I frowned and looked at him intently.
“What? Why are you looking at me in that way?” he asked.
“In what way?” I asked in confusion.
“Like …..”
“Both Luna Evangeline and her pup is fine.”, The doctor announced, and everyone’s mind went on her. “It was implantation bleeding, nothing serious.”

Yes! Much better than the fact that I became the Alpha of two packs.
“Can we meet her?” I asked her.
“Yes, you can. Alpha! In fact, every one can meet her. She has gained her consciousness.”, She responded, and all of us rushed to her room. Stephen and I were at the end. I was not sure how Daniel would react after finding me there, maybe he would blame me for my condition Eva, but then a part of me knew that my sister would again save me if her pissed mate tried to kick me out of the room.
“How are you, Dear?” I heard Stephen’s mom asking. I looked at her, she was lying on the bed, and Daniel had held her hand.
“I’m fine, Mom, and so does your grandchild.”, She replied with a smile and looked around. Finally, her eyes stopped moving when they landed on me.
“Thank you, Aleena, for saving me and my pup at the last moment.”, She said. I looked at her and wondering she was really being serious?
She was in that situation because of me in the first place.
‘Should I say that to her directly?’
‘Yes. You should. Be the real you, and it is much better than acting like sweet tomato ketchup. I hate that. And to whom are you hiding your true color? Who had seen you all your life’, Leia said.
“Dan, Mom, dad… can you give me a moment with Aleena?”, She asked when she realized that I had a hard time speaking what was in my heart in front of everyone. “Pleaseee,” She added stress on it.
“Okay.”, Daniel nodded, giving in to her request. “I will talk with the doctor by that time.”
‘Just sort out the issues between you two today. Sometimes it’s either NOW or never.’ Stephen's mind linked me before giving me a light kiss on my lips.

Once everyone left. I started speaking, “What were you thinking at that time? Considering me over your pup? Have you lost your mind, or you have got bitten by some insect because of which your best is never going to end, huh?.” I snapped and found her smiling. “This… this smile of yours always gives me the vibe that you are mocking me silently without saying anything. That’s why I used to hate whenever you smiled. I just wanted to wipe it out.”
“I couldn’t understand what makes you so happy and cheerful while I, on the other had no reason to stay happy. I thought it was dad. That’s why I started hating you more than before. Then I wanted to have Daniel, but again, you got your hand on him, adding a little more hatred in my bucket that I had for you. Then for the first time, I planned to kill you but even after knowing that you were with me with the same smile on your lips. To wipe out that smile from your lips, I didn’t realize that when did I bring tears to my eyes.
It was the moment of eye-opening for me that ‘happiness is a state of mind, a choice, a way of living; it is not something to be achieved, it is something to be experienced.’”
“Come here!” she said, patting on the bed, signaling me to sit there. I did the same, and she placed her hand over mine. “I always wear a smile because it is the reason for many others to smile. I never mean to mock you.”
“I know that now.”, I muttered.
“You okay?”
“No. I’m not okay. You shouldn’t have risked yourself or your pup’s life, Eva. I’m already living in regret that dad died because of me. Not just that, I also killed my unborn brother and made my mother a psycho. Were you planning to add one more sin to my head?”
“I… I wasn’t thinking in that way. I’m sorry. What can I do to make things right?”
“Just promise me that you won’t repeat something like that.”
“No. I can’t do that.”
“Why not?”
“I can’t promise something that I can break.”
“But what is the need to break? All you have to do is a simple promise that you won’t risk yourself or your pup for me. It’s not that I can’t take care of myself.”, I said, on which she shook her head. “But why?”
“Because I love you, idiot. And I will do it again and again if your life is under any threat. I could clearly see that if you wouldn’t be able to use your power in time, then you would have surrendered yourself when they would have held Stephen hostage. And right now, instead of me, Stephen would have been here, fighting for his life.”, She growled at me, making my mouth go shut. “In his comparison, I’m still in the better condition.”
The fact that they could have got a hand on Stephen and would have made him severally injured froze my body.
Hell, I couldn’t even imagine him sick, so just skip the topic of seeing him in the hospital.
“And would I have died?”
“No.”, She shook her head. “But I know, after seeing Stephen in that state, you would have lost your mind.”
She did everything for me. AGAIN.
And I hadn’t even apologized to her yet.
I knew that I could never return the favor she had done to me. Just like a child couldn’t return the favor of her or his mother, the least I could do was to apologize to her.
“I’m sorry, Eva. I’m sorry for everything.”
“And?”
“I know I can do nothing to make things right. Still, what can I do to make you feel better?”
“Well, there is a list of things that you will have to do.”
“Okay.”, I agreed, waiting to hear her lists.
“One, you will treat my pup as yours without any discrimination between yours and mine, just like dad treated me equally to both of us.”
“Noted.”
“Second, you will let our pups play together, and it will be your responsibility to let these thoughts come into our pup’s mind that you love my pup more than him or her.”
“Noted.”, Even if he or she felt the way I did, I would talk to her or him about it and clear the doubt in my pup’s head about this misconception.
“And third, you will never tell them the truth about how was our relation. I don’t want them to know about any of our bitter memories of ours.”, She finished by saying this, and tears brimmed in my eyes, realizing that she wanted to give our pups that childhood and life which would have only if my mom and I would have kept the fact our of my mind that she was not dad’s half daughter or say, she was an outsider in our family.
“Noted again.”, She smiled and kept my hand on her stomach. “So, what’s it?”
“The doctor hasn’t told us yet whether it is boy or girl.”, I asked, asking about the gender of the pup.
“Oh! Come on! I know you might be what is the gender of the pup.”
She bit her lips before smiling, and for the first time, I was not jealous of her smile. “It’s a boy.”
“And what will be the gender of my first pup?” I asked curiously.
“For that, you needed to have sex first.”, She teased, and I slapped her arms. She laughed, and I hit her again.
“Stop it, Eva.”, I whined, and finally, she stopped laughing, and the moment our gaze matched again. We broke into laughter together this time.
