Chapter 15

-15

AURORA’S POV

My stomach was in knots. Why the hell did Tyson want to have dinner with me!?

I had taken special care to stay out of his way for the past week. It had become very awkward to be around him, after the kiss. But, today I had no option but to face him.

I bumped headlong into the pillar as I walked into the dining room. If Tyson hadn’t caught me on time, I would have kissed the floor.

He led me to the table, even pulling out a chair for me to sit. His extraordinary behavior was driving me to the edge. I stole a glance at him to find that he was dressed in a brown, formal suit. It brought out the color of his eyes.

Sensing my stare he looked at me. My face flushed and I instantly lowered my eyes.

I decided to sip on the water just so that I could have something to do. My hands shook so much that I ended up spilling the water on the table.

“Why are you so jumpy?” his voice with a tone of arrogance broke through the awkwardness.

It didn’t matter how good he looked. He would always remain the most self-entitled creature on this planet.

“How else did you expect me to behave? I saw you and Aslan turn into huge dragons. It isn’t a normal thing for normal people just so you know!” I said indignantly.

“I didn’t mean to mock you, Aurora. Please have some apple pie. I know it is your favorite.” He said, flashing me a smile.

“Tyson, you don’t have to beat about the bush. Just tell what you want.” I said with an exasperated sigh.

“What else could I do? You have been running away from me and there is a very important question I need to ask…”

“What do you want to ask Tyson?”

“How did you reach the battlezone that day?”

My heart skipped a beat at his question. I had been trying hard to avoid thinking about it…

“I don’t know, Tyson. One moment I was thinking of Caleb and the next moment I was standing in front of him…”

“What do you mean by that, Aurora?” He roared and banged his fist on the table. The crockery on the table clanked and some of them fell on the floor and shattered.

A scream escaped my mouth and I jumped to my feet. I knew he would get angry if I can’t give him a satisfactory answer. That was one of the reasons I was hiding from him.

“I have no other answer to give you Tyson! If you want to believe me, Fine… else you can rot in hell!” I sneered at him and stormed out of the room.

TYSON’S POV

Dang, it! I screwed up everything. Now I would have to wait for Aslan to arrive before I can get any answers from Aurora.

“My Liege, Adrian is here to meet you…” The guard’s voice brought me back to reality.

I drank some water and told the guard to send him in.

Adrian’s face was laced with worry. He bowed to me and said in a shaking voice, “Sir, please let me stay here. Caleb has grown suspicious of me. If he finds out that I was the one who switched the painite weapons, he will kill me.”

Oh! So it was like that. He was no longer useful to me then. I took a tiny vial from my pocket.

His eyes widened in horror and he asked, “What… what are you doing…”

I grabbed him by his throat and thrust the needle of the vial in his throat.

The color drained from his face.“How could you do this to me? I helped you save the lives of so many dragons…”

“Only to feed your greed. If you can betray your Alpha, you can betray me too….” I gritted out, releasing him.

He fell to the ground and screamed in pain. His chest heaved as he gasped for breath.

“Now you will never find the truth…” he said with a victorious smile before the light in his eyes died out.

“What do you mean?” I asked shaking him up but he was gone.

“What the hell did he mean by that statement?” I yelled, tearing at my hair.

“I checked the weapons he handed over to us. They are not made of Painite. He might have been referring to that.” Aslan said as he walked into the room.

“F***! Where are the weapons then?”

“I don’t know, Tyson. Don’t worry, I will find it soon.”

With Aslan’s efficiency, he should have already figured it out but he was quite distracted these days. Maybe, it was a mistake to pardon Raina.

“I can understand that you are busy but what is Raina doing. I want results in three days or she can kiss her pardon goodbye.”

“And yes… dispose of his body…” I called before leaving.

ASLAN’S POV

Tyson was back to his normal self, threatening everyone. Zizi was right, he cared only about himself.

I had already figured who had the weapons but I wasn’t ready to tell him yet.

I had to think over Zizi’s proposal before taking a decision.

I drew in a deep breath and raised my palm. A warm sensation flowed through my veins and soon a huge ball of fire had formed on the top of my palm.

With a quick wave of my hand, I set Adrian’s body on fire. I sat on the chair and watched as his body was burnt to ashes by the inferno.

I let out a long, deep sigh and said, “Tyson is like that. He knows only to use people. So what if you betrayed your Alpha for him… so what if you saved his life… he will kill you if he doesn’t need you anymore.”

The day I am no longer useful to him, he will kill me too… Zizi was right. It was high time, I thought about Raina and myself.
