Chapter 47

TYSON’S POV

I was stunned when I didn’t find the stone in the locker. “I… had kept it here…” I stuttered.

“I know you are not lying but where do you think it is?” Adam whispered a few inches from my ears sending shivers down my spine. It was too comfortable and dangerous to stay here alone with him.

I gasped his hand and teleported back to the previous location before he could realize it.

“If you want to save your daughter, tell me where the Heart of Magic is?” He gritted out grasping my neck.

My eyes widened in surprise when I saw Aurora behind him. Without any warning, she thrust a dagger inside him. “Ahhhh!!!” His bloodcurdling scream sounded as he dropped to the ground.

“Are you okay? Where is Tiara?” I asked jumping over Adam’s body to reach Aurora.

Adam’s evil laughter sounded as he jumped to his feet. He pulled out the dagger from his back and said scornfully, “Who said that this silly dagger can kill me? Let me think… let me think… Caleb!”

He grasped Caleb by his neck and said, “I knew I could never trust this mole. So, I changed the dagger he had procured just in case… see how right I was…”

Caleb’s hands slumped to his side and he said in a defeated voice, “Everything is lost, Aurora. Our last chance for salvation…”

“Poof! It is gone.” Adam said and roared with laughter.

“Where is Tiara?” I asked shaking Aurora.

I could barely make out her words as she whispered, “She is placed under Leiche spell…”

My heart stopped beating… I knew what that spell meant… What were we going to do? How would we save Tiara?

“I am going to tear your loyal friend limb by limb. Then, I will kill Tiara. Game over…” He said and started laughing like a crazed maniac.

I felt so helpless… I had tried so many ways to kill him but none had worked…

A sudden gust of wind blew and I staggered backward. A gasp escaped my mouth when I realized that the source of the wind was none other than Aurora.

Winds blew around her making it appear like she was rising a cyclone. Her hair flowed in soft waves as she moved forward slowly, menacingly. Her eyes glowed like cinders and her expression made my hair bristle.

She waved her hands and a gust of wind hovered over her hand forming a ball. A stream of water, earth, and fire engulfed the ball of wind one by one.

She let out a bone-chilling scream and projected the ball towards Adam. He went flying across the ground and fell about a hundred yards away.

By the time I reached him, he was almost dead. He grinned from ear to ear and said, “You still lost Tyson. Aurora used the ‘Heart of Magic’ to kill me. Darkness will engulf her soul and soon she will become like the Dark Queen… Mark my words, Tyson… Mark my words…”

His words kept ringing in my ears even after he became quiet. My heart pounded against my ribs as my eyes swept around the battlefield looking for Aurora.

Screams and shouts echoed as Aurora moved around slaughtering them. If she kept killing at this pace, she would be lost forever.

CALEB’S POV

My plan was working. I had deliberately given Meredith a fake dagger. I wanted Aurora to come to the battlefield and attempt to kill the Dark Lord.

If she had found Tiara, Tyson would keep her hidden in the Sanctuary and the Dark Lord would never be killed. My pack members would never be safe.

The Dark Lord thought that he had changed the dagger but I had retrieved it again right under his nose. It was tucked safely in my belt. When the time came, it would do its job too…

My heart twisted with guilt when I saw Aurora slaughtering people. I had such a strong faith that the goodness in Aurora would stop her from doing anything evil.

Apparently, I had undermined the power of the stone. I had to stop her from becoming the evil she just killed at all costs…

AURORA’S POV

I couldn’t find peace even after killing the Dark Lord. A strange kind of hunger was gnawing on my insides; an urge to kill; an urge to see blood…

Werewolves and witches shuddered as I moved towards them. My heart filled with a strange satisfaction on seeing them cower.

More power flowed into my veins as I killed one werewolf after another. The power that flowed into my veins when I killed someone filled me with pure bliss.

Out of the blue, a man jumped in front of me.

“Aurora, please stop!” His voice did sound familiar but I didn’t want to stop.

He grasped me by the shoulders and looked into my eyes. Light tried to pierce through the darkness. But, I didn’t want it to quell this feeling; the feeling of having the whole world under my feet.

I don’t know why I didn’t kill him, just didn’t feel like it… Snorting, I shoved him out of the way and suspended another man in front of me high up in the air.

“Aurora, please listen to me… This is not you… The power of the stone has made you drunk… you have to fight it… for me; for Tyson; for your daughter; your angel, Tiara!”

Tiara, that name tugged at my heart. I cared about her but not as much as this power. Waving my hands in the air I snapped the werewolf’s neck. I moaned in pleasure at the sudden surge of energy… This was heaven and I didn’t want any other.

CALEB’S POV

I tore my hair. Aurora wasn’t in her senses. She didn’t even want to listen to me. But… yes… she had hesitated at Tiara’s name… Yes! Tiara was the key to stopping her.

I just hoped she had teleported to Typhoon with Tiara as I had instructed her. Closing my eyes, I tried to mind link with her. *Meredith, where are you?*

The moment I got a reply, I rushed to get Tiara. I ran as I had never before. Each minute counted. Aurora was killing at a terrific speed…

By the time returned, the battlefield was strewn with hundreds of bodies. An agonized scream escaped my throat and I jumped right in front of her.

I thrust Tiara in her arms without a thought. My heart stopped beating when she didn’t react at all. My heart pounded in my ears. What if… what if she… no she would never kill her own daughter. She stood there frozen like a statue for a while.

Tiara placed her little hand on Aurora’s cheek. Fleeting light of recognition passed through her eyes and the stone in her hand dropped to the ground. She held Tiara close to her chest as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Her knees buckled and she fell to the ground. A bone-chilling scream escaped her mouth and she started sobbing uncontrollably.

Tiara shifted uncomfortably and started wailing too. Taking her from Aurora’s hand I gave Tiara to Meredith.

Kneeling in front of her, I pulled her into my arms.

“It’s okay, Aurora. You didn’t do anything… The power of the stone made you do that…” I tried to console her rubbing her back.

Suddenly, she pushed me away and begged, “Kill me, Caleb. Please kill me… I can’t carry the burden of this guilt. I am evil, pure evil; destroy me before I destroy this whole world… please…”

I grasped her by her shoulders and looked into her eyes. “You are NOT evil, Aurora; I am… it was my plan all along. I wanted you to use the stone and kill the Dark Lord!”

A gasp escaped her mouth and her face turned red with fury. Her eyes filled with hatred pierced through me like a spear. I sat there bowing my head. There was nothing else I could say.

She punched me and growled, “How could you do that, Caleb? How! Look at all those people lying dead on the ground. Do you feel no remorse?”

“I don’t think you have the right to judge him or blame him when you have no bloody idea what he has gone through,” Meredith said placing her hand on my shoulders.

I glared at her, warning her to stop but she was determined to speak. “Do you know how this all started, Aurora?”

Aurora looked at her with a stunned expression and shook her head. “Please…” I begged Meredith to stop but she shook her head and said, “No one can stop me from speaking the truth today, not even you!”

“It all started because he had to take help from The Dark Lord to locate YOU. He made a pact with the devil to save YOU from Celeste.

He suffered so much over the past few months but he never stopped loving you. He did everything so that YOU can be safe.”

Aurora shook her head and said, “To keep me safe, he risked the lives of hundreds of people… this can’t be love…”

“You know what, he doesn’t need to prove anything to you. Come with me, Caleb.” Meredith said, tugging at my arms.

I shook my head and whispered, “The time has come…”

“No, you don’t have to do this… not for her… no way…”

I smiled at her and said, “I have to…”

Tears rolled down her cheeks and she said, “Why?”

“ ‘Cause, I love her…” Saying so I Pulled out the dagger and thrust it right into my heart…
