Chapter 43

Kyle's POV

I wasn't dead, at least not this moment. Even though, it felt like it for some moment there.

But, although I felt alive, I wasn't me.

Something, or should I say some things had changed in me.

I stood staring over my sleeping body on the floor and wondered what the hell was happening with me. I needed no soothsayer to tell me that I have become a spirit.

But how is that even possible.

I watched as the Bastard protects and chased off insects from my body.

How long have I been out and how do I return to my body? I wondered.

It was obvious my mate didn't notice the fact that I was standing next to him and instead he kept protecting the other me that was lying lifeless on the floor.

Wait, why is my wolf silent, it's unlikely of her to be this quiet.

“Kyle,” I heard a sweet familiar voice say behind me.

I turned around to see my mother walking towards me and I smiled.

Okay maybe I am dead and my mother is here to take me with her.

“You have come for me mother, right,” I asked her as she moved closer to where I was standing.

“No child, I have come to make you known of your new abilities and strength,” she said.

I felt a bit disappointed because I realized that moment how deeply I have missed her, but I was also glad that I could get to spend more time with my bastard.

“What about my powers mother?"I questioned, searching her eyes for answers.

“Kyle you have become a full bloom witch and while this is a good thing, it always comes with lots of responsibilities. One of which is that you must guild your heart always. some forces would try to steal what you have and take away that one thing you cherish most, you must be at alert all times, I love you kyle ” mum said, and that same instant, she fades away from my view.

And the next thing I knew, I was blinking my eyelids, I opened them to see my mate still busy wandering off insects from my body.

Our eyes connected and they held on to each other for a while, then a smile spread across his face.

“Welcome back,” he said.

“Thanks” I replied with a cheerful smile.

He helped me sit and gave me some water to drink. I took a few sips and my mind kept echoing what my mother had told me about being a full bloom witch.

I also noticed I have an amazing inner flow of energy and I could hear voices from far away. I can't believe I am finally a witch and I was already eager to try out my new skills.

I was told you were going to come back as a witch,” the bastard said after some time.

“Yeah, I saw a mother and she told me that I have powers,” I said to him.

“How is she?”

“Who?”

“Mother”

“She is good, she looked happy”

“I am glad she is,”

“Did you experience this, I mean passing out on the day you became a witch?” I asked my mate who seemed to be watching me closely.

“Not exactly, though I have had a few passing out and sudden surge of energy, I can't tell if that is because I was becoming a wizard,” he said

“It's an amazing feeling, I feel so powerful like I know what to do and say to get a particular thing done,” I said with a smile

“I'm glad you feel that way,” he said.

“Ready for us to go save our friends,” I asked cheerfully, standing up to dust the dirt off my body and clothes.

“I have never been so ready,” he said, taking my hand and placing kisses on it

“Honestly I think flying is way easier to get to where we are headed,” I said trying hard to control the happiness flowing through me.

But I noticed my mate was not so thrilled with what I was saying and I was forced to push aside my selfishness to ask him what it was that was bothering him

“You look worried,” I said to him

“Yeah, it's something about what my spirit guard said. She said I should be careful to not let my powers consume me or those around me, I am scared that I might hurt you if I give in to my powers” he said calmly.

“I understand. But, do not let the fear of what might happen to stop you from becoming who you are meant to be,” I said to him,

Hoping that he understands that he sees his powers as gifts and not a curse.

“Even if it means hurting you?” he questioned.

“The you that I know will never hurt me. You are still you, irrespective of your wizardry or wolf strength. You are Ivar Owens, first of his kind. You are my bastard and nothing is ever going to happen to either me or you. Don't be scared I will protect you” I said.

“So you knew my name all this while?” he asked caressing my face with the back of his palm.

“Yes of course, but I sort of like calling you my bastard,” I said and gasped when I felt his hold around me tightened.

“Why,” he questioned in a sexy voice.

“It has this bad boy vibe to it,” I said teasingly while rolling my eyes.

“So you think I am a bad boy?” he questioned with a steady mesmerizing gaze.

“Aaaa, not exactly, but still I don't mind seeing you as my bad boy,” I said sluttingly.

“You are naughty,”

“You bring out my naughtiness” I spurred back with a happy face.

“We better leave now, before you make me start something that might make us delay a day more,” he said, the tension and lust in his voice are undeniable.

Even though I am curious to know what you have in mind, I will try to be patient till we have rescued our friends,” I said biting my lower lip.

His eyes transfixed on my lips and eyes for some time as if trying to talk himself out of all the naughty ideas he has up in his head.

“What would you like to turn into,” he asked after taking in a deep breath.

“The obvious, Raven of course,”

“Nice choice, I was hoping you were going to pick mosquitoes,”

“What, why would I pick mosquitoes”

“You seem to like it the time you were one”

I didn't have a choice

Oh yeah, I remember now, he said teasingly.

“You are mean”

“That's because I love you,” he said placing soft kisses on my lips.

“Ready,” he asked while I nodded my

We both recited the switching spell in Latin and at that moment we both turned into ravens as we flapped our wings to support the weight from our bodies.

Let's go get our friends I said as I flew through the sky in awesome astonishment.

“I think we are too way up in the sky to see the park from here,” Ivar screamed across to me.

Yeah I know it would be impossible to see the pack from the height we were in but I was having so much fun that for some seconds there, I had forgotten the reason I left home in the first place.

“Yeah, let's fly lower,” I said to him.

“We flew down, till we were able to see trees, houses, and people.

Let's find out where they are being kept, I will go into the cells to check, while you go to the packhouse,” my mate said

Great, I said and flew off.

I mostly flew out of sight as many people see the raven as a bad omen. I soon got to the packhouse and started searching from widows to windows to see or hear any information about Simeon or Harry.

After searching without any result I decided to fly across to the king's window, to see how he was doing and if for nothing, I know it would make my bastard happy.

As I got closer to the window, I heard voices, and one of the voices belonged to Miranda my evil mother, and an unknown male.

I landed on the window and listen to all they were saying. The King appeared to be sleeping while the duo was talking.

“Just kill him and get it done with it,” Miranda said to the huge monstrous-looking rogue.

“I want you to have a rethink, he is the king and if he dies now who is going to take his place before Richard comes of age,” the mean-looking rogue asked Miranda.

“I will become their queen before my son comes of age,” she said.

“You seem to have it settled then,” he said and as he moved closer to the king's bed, I tweeted out loud in panic and that directed their attention to me.

“Get the hell out of here you stupid bird,” Miranda said throwing an object at me. Luckily she missed as I flew off to go find the bastard.
