“W-what?” I stuttered.
I could not believe what I just heard.
His words were still confusing me and I could not properly process them inside.
Before I could speak again his face was already close to mine.
One wrong move and our lips would meet in no time.
Sh*t, why did that thought suddenly make me gulp?
Am I expecting something?
* crash!
I instantly pushed the man in front of me after hearing something outside.
My heart was already pounding really fast and I can not hear what Ash said after pushing him.
I then immediately looked in the direction where the crashing sound came and realized it was Cassine.
Her face was shocked as she lifted both of her hands into the air.
There I found the tray and food scattered on the floor.
“C-cassine?” I nervously called while walking fast to where she was standing.
“U-uh?” She then asked back, snapping back to reality.
Aish, this was Ash’s fault.
I know she was very surprised by what she saw a while back.
We promised each other to never be involved with that man anymore but she saw me almost kissing him!
“Uhmmm, is the class over?” I asked while trying to change her focus and act as if nothing happened.
I was hoping that she will just let go of that incident and she did not fail me.
Cassine immediately flashed her usual sweet smile before kneeling to check on the food.
“There are still 10 minutes left before our break but I thought you would already be hungry so I went to buy you something. Awh, unfortunately, it is not edible now,” she continuously explained in disappointment.
I then sighed before helping her pick up the sandwich. “Thank you Cassine.”
“For what?”
“For always taking care of me,” I abruptly answered.
She however giggled and lightly tapped my shoulders. “I am not taking care of you. I am just concerned about the baby.”
We both laughed hard after that because we knew she was just joking.
When the bell rang we both stood up and decided to go to the canteen together.
I tried looking back with my peripheral vision to check if Ash was still there but he may have left already.
“Myrtle,” I heard Cassine call after we arrived at the cafeteria.
We were already at our usual table and she seemed to be bothered with something.
“Is something the matter Cassine?” I asked.
“Hmmm, do not get me wrong okay? I am just concerned about you,” she stated but I can sense hesitance in her tone.
“What is really the problem?”
“I saw you with Ash a while back.”
The moment I heard her last sentence my heart suddenly froze.
“Haha, that is nothing. He was just teasing me,” I tried to act normal.
Even though my laugh was an awkward one.
I however felt her hand touching my arm. “Do you like him?”
I almost fell off my seat when she asked me.
“What?! No way! Why would I like that monster!” I was not able to control my emotion when I shouted not realizing that there were other students around us.
But as soon I saw Cassine’s face, it brightened.
She was pale a while ago but now it seems like she let go of something very heavy in her heart. She looked so relieved.
Hmmm, maybe because she was worried that I would fall with that devil.
Hell no!
“Wait for me here. I will go get us something to eat,” she happily announced and stood up.
“Let me come with you,” I suggested but she only shook her head.
“No, it will be best for the baby if you sit down and rest.”
Before I could even protest she has already left me.
All I could do was sigh heavily and look at my flat stomach.
Hmmm, if my stomach begins to grow a baby bump I am sure I will not be able to come to school anymore.
The principal will surely throw me out if he knows I am pregnant.
‘Hang in there baby angel. Do not show up first okay? Let me graduate first...’
As soon as I finished my sentence I suddenly felt something move inside my stomach.
‘Woah, did you hear what mommy said? Awh, I am sure that you are not happy and I also do not want to hide you. But I am doing this to protect you.’
“Who are you talking to?”
“Ahhh!.... hmmmmm....”
I glared at the man beside me after he covered my mouth.
I then gathered all of my strength and pulled his hands away.
“What are you doing?!” I yelled while whispering in frustration but he only shrugged his shoulders.
“You were screaming. Of course, I had to do something,” he replied casually.
I however only rolled my eyes with his answer. “Why are you even here in the first place? Can not you see the other students’ eyes are already glaring at me like they will kill me anytime soon?” I complained.
But it is true!
I can see from the side of my eyes that everyone was already looking in our direction and that they are already creating spells in their minds to kill me.
“Do not mind them.”
“What?” I asked in disbelief. “You are saying that because they will not do anything to you. But what about me? I am sure they will only bully me even more after seeing me with you. They...”
“Shhhhh, you are so talkative,” Ash however replied and pinned his finger on my mouth to shut me off.
I then abruptly pulled his finger away and disgustingly wiped my mouth.
I wanted to let him know that he is not welcome here and that I despise him so much.
But he only looked at me amused.
“Cute.”
“W-what did y-you say?”
“U-uh, nothing. You heard nothing right? Tsh, forget it. I will be leaving now, take care of yourself.”
And before I could even ask again he has already vanished into thin air.
I can still see those eyes on me but I shrugged my shoulder and tried to look for Cassine.
Ash is right I should not mind them since they do not have anything to do with my life. It is not as if they were the ones who sheltered me to have a right to judge me right?
