Chapter 24

Sloan's POV

After our nap, Carter and I found ourselves downstairs with Turner. I had taken it upon myself to cook for us, while Turner and Carter watched Cars and played a bunch of board games. This was my first time interacting with the kid, and it was weird. From the times he was around before he kept to himself. Quiet and reserved. Almost like Ambrose. But that was about five years ago. Seeing him now, he was the complete opposite. Loud, rambunctious, and sweet. That was not Ambrose.

My phone buzzed in my pocket as I cooked, and I grabbed it, and speaking of the devil, Ambrose's name flashed across my screen. I immediately answered and his stone-cold face stared back at me.

This kid needed to loosen up.

"Sloan." He huffed, his arms crossed as he stared at me.

"What kid?" I smirked, knowing he was going to give me his version of lecturing me.

"You must hate me." Here we go. "Seeing as you have called your other siblings except for me."

"See, now that is not true." I teased as I took the phone and perched it up against the wall by the stove. "I haven't called Delany yet,"

"Spare me, you beast." He gritted his teeth and snarled at me. Gosh, he was more like an animal than we were.

Ambrose and Florence were twins, both 18 and unmated. But from what I can tell that hasn't bothered Ambrose at all, but then again he rarely shows that anything bothers him. Ambrose was born a lycan, but we think because he had share a womb with a tiger he got their strength. I mean seriously, the kid was strong as hell. And fucking ripped. Not to mention he was kind of scary-looking to be honest.

"Name-calling already? We've only been on the phone for four minutes." I knew that teasing him was going to make him more upset. But it needed to be done. "You gotta stop being so serious all the time."

"I wasn't calling you to pester me, you idiot." He rolled his eyes and ran his hand through dark hair that was a mess on his head. The thing about me and Ezra, we ended up getting the light features...the white features as my pops likes to say. We look like our grandpa. But everyone else, Ambrose, Flo, Delany, Eliezar they all look more Italian and black than I do. Not fair.

"Then why were you calling?" The phone went silent and I saw a red heat joined his cheeks. A smile erupted on my face at the realization. "You missed me!" I yelled so loud, that Carter and Turner looked over, confusion all over their faces.

"Shut up! You asshole!" He yelled back, but I didn't care. Ambrose missed me, and guess what, I was going to tell everyone.

I heard footsteps and I turned to see both Carter and Turner walking over to see the commotion.

'What's going on?' Carter signed as he approached and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Oh, I'm just talking to Ambrose about how much he misses me." Ambrose groaned on the phone, and Carter made a look toward me. He knew Ambrose would never say such a thing. He moved over to where he was on the screen and he smiled.

"Hello, Carter. I hope you are well." I made a quick 'push' sound and rolled my eyes. He could of at least sounded enthusiastic about it.

'I am well, I hope you are too.' Carter signed. Guilt began gnawing at me, knowing that I held back the information about Carter signing.

"He said that he--" I went to interpret but Ambrose interrupted me before I could.

"I know what he said beast." He rolled his eyes and went back to looking at Carter and signed, 'Your sign language is beautiful. I am a little jealous that you were able to learn so quickly. I've been studying for years and finally have mastered it.'

That was news to me. But then again, anything about Ambrose was news to me. The kid was so private with everything he did that we just got used to being aloof when it came to him.

"When the fuck did you learn sign language?" I asked, raising my brow at him.

"I know many languages for your information. It's vital to know such things because you never know who you're going to encounter." I stuck my tongue out at him as an arrogant look came across his face. I wanted to reach through the screen and hit him. I heard a loud gasp and Turner was pushing his way through us and looking at the screen where Ambrose was.

"Does that mean you know Spanish?" I couldn't but notice how Ambrose went stiff at the sight of Turner. And I also noticed how Turner had a goofy grin on his face, and the back of his neck burned a bright red as he looked at my brother.

Strange...very strange.

"Es tan," Ambrose said, his voice was raspy, and it looked like it strained him to speak. I looked at Carter who was already looking at me with a weird knowing look in his eye. But Turner was 17, so there was no way to know for sure. Maybe they just found each other attractive.

"Perfecto! Es muy dificil encontrar ortros que hablen espanol. Pero quiero aprender el leguaje de senas, con suerte pronto. No soy bueno ensenandome coases a mi mismo."

I had no idea what the kid was saying but Ambrose listened with a firm intensity and gave him a tight nod when he was done.

"Tal vez algun dia pueda ensenarte." I don't know what Ambrose said back, but whatever it was, it made Turner turn bright red. It was quite amusing to watch.

"O-o--okay. Yeah, that'd be great." That was all Turner said before he ran out of the kitchen and upstairs. Ambrose a moment later dropped the phone to where his face was out of view and from what I could tell he put himself on mute. I could no longer hear the soft hum of his fan.

'I think Ambrose might want to come visit for a trip.' Carter signed and smirked at me. 'I'm going to find Turner.' He leaned forward and pressed a kiss on my cheek before leaving.

Once he was gone up the stairs I stepped into the camera, a smirk sitting heavily on my face.

"They both are gone, kid," I said and he slowly moved himself back into the camera, and the sound of his fan came back in. Only confirming that he was on mute.

'Who was that?' He signed, still unsure if Turner was around to hear.

'Turner, Byn and James' kid. You've met him.' Ambrose just huffed and rolled his eyes but had a faraway look on his face.

'If I met him, I would have remembered.' He signed angrily, but it seemed more like it was towards himself if anything.

'Oh and why do you say that?' I teased, knowing exactly why he said that.

"I'm hanging up." And before I could even speak, he had already hung up. I laughed deeply at my brother and also at the fact I had never seen him act this way. I always thought the kid didn't find anyone attractive. I thought he'd mate a tree or something.

I heard footsteps and I turned to see Carter coming back down with an amused look on his face.

'Turner is a bit...confused.' He signed as he popped himself on the counter and sat and let me finish cooking.

"What do you mean?"

'Well....Turner is straight. Very straight. Like sleeps with women every night straight.' That caught me off guard.

"There's no way that little puppy is straight." Carter made a face at my teasing and slightly pushed my shoulder. "What? I mean look at him. He's got the floppy blonde hair and the innocent boy vibe going on."

'Okay well, he might but women love it.'

"Brother, like the brother I guess," I smirked at Carter and he rolled his eyes. "You were straight once. Now look at you. You're practically rubbing up on me every night." His eyes went wide in surprise and a deep laugh escaped my lips.

'SLOAN!'

"Oh well, I guess it is different seeing as you had a crush on me the whole time." If looks could kill....then Carter's would pin me down and put a pillow on my head. But I knew it was all in good fun and he didn't mind the teasing.

'You're never going to let that go are you?' Carter smirked and I leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss on his lips and smiled.

"Fuck no." A smile burst on his face as I pulled away, which happens every time we kiss.

We fell into a comfortable silence as I cooked and Carter watched, while also texting Ezra. There was a ring at the front door and neither of us moved to get the door, seeing as we didn't live here.

"I'll get it!" Turner yelled from wherever he was and ran to the front door.

I wasn't listening to whoever was talking to him, already assuming it was one of his friends. That was until a scent hit my nose which caused me to go completely still. And so did Carter. He stomped around the corner, a worried look on his face as he looked between us. Turner ran around the corner, looking disheveled and taken aback as well.

"I tried to stop him, I did!" Turner yelled, looking more worried than ever.

We stood there staring at each other. His eyes flickered between me and Carter, but mostly keeping his eyes on Carter. Many emotions were flooding in them, and it was hard to find which ones they were. Loren perked up and he was already growling, ready to pounce whenever I gave word.

"I knew it. I knew it was your truck." His voice shook the house. So deep it would have been scary to anyone else. He took a deep breath and ran his hand through his hair. His eyes went back to Carter, my mate's face held nothing but rage and sadness.

"Carter. Sloan."

"Sean."

________________________________________________________________________________

HERE WE GOOOO LADIES AND GENTS. Of course, Sean was going to recognize his best friend's car! DUH.

Anyway, this chapter was so cute to write. Ambrose we love! I needed to add him in here because he hadn't been talked about. I'm trying to incorporate all the siblings and their personalities.

Also, I know it's not BxB but would you want a book about Delany and Florence? I have an idea of what that would be like but I just want to make sure you'd all read it.

I will say...Turner is important...as well as Ambrose is important. HEHE

So many things that I can't tell you...and so many things in the works.
