Chapter 15: Gah, There’s Still Honkai Energy Too!
***
— Previous Era, Western Siberia
“Although I knew the war wasn’t far off, I didn’t expect it to come this quickly.”
Getting off the military armored vehicle, the pink-haired girl stepping onto the thick snow layer was wearing thin clothing, cheeks flushed red from the cold.
He raised both hands and breathed warm air into them, muttering quietly: “A Herrscher’s body isn’t cold-resistant either.”
“Who knows? Herrschers are such monsters, who knows what they’re like.”
Standing beside the girl was a man wearing special clothing with the Fire Moth insignia on it. He spoke: “It shouldn’t be this cold though, right? These clothes are specially made environmental adaptation suits from the organization.”
“Monsters, huh.”
Hearing this view of Herrschers, Jiang Qiao sighed. The Herrschers of this era were indeed monsters that only knew how to kill, except for the owner of this body.
What a pity. Just this morning he was still complaining about a possible Honkai eruption, and before noon he got the notice to head to the battlefield.
He had to admire Fire Moth’s incredible efficiency, completing the cross-ocean landing in just about 3 hours.
The location of the Second Eruption was the Siberian snowfields of Russia, which wasn’t different from the future era. But Jiang Qiao wasn’t surprised by this. After all, according to Kevin, under Prometheus’s contingency plan, the next generation’s patterns would be highly similar to this era. Plus, the Honkai system itself revered fatalism and cyclical themes, so the same location wasn’t worth lamenting over.
If nothing went wrong, he might even see the 50,000-year-old version of the purple pufferfish.
“A girl’s body is quite delicate, very different from boys.”
Jiang Qiao casually responded to the man. After a day of adaptation, he had initially gotten used to playing Elysia’s role.
“Ha, in that case it’ll be quite hard to survive on this battlefield.”
Laughing heartily without minding the gender difference, he spoke with some warning intent and joked:
“Besides, your performance in the organization is much better than mine.”
Zhi, one of the Fire Moth warriors, had much more seniority than Elysia. According to the intelligence Jiang Qiao had learned from Elysia beforehand, this man seemed to be a survivor from the First Eruption.
Because of his experience, even though his strength wasn’t as good as hers, he still became the captain of Jiang Qiao’s squad.
Being both men, he had a good relationship with Ato, and with Elysia… was there really anyone in this organization who didn’t get along with Elysia?
Recalling the experience of even military dogs wagging their tails at him, Jiang Qiao had wondered about this.
“How far are we from the target?”
Zhi was indeed experienced and quite official. After laughing, he seriously asked another squad member for information.
The latter, holding an instrument, responded:
“About 5 kilometers.”
The Second Eruption occurred in the Siberian snowfields, and according to satellite reconnaissance and Honkai Energy detection, the largest Honkai source reaction of the Second Eruption was located in some village in this Siberian snowfield.
That was obviously where the Herrscher was.
“Why not drive directly to the scene?”
Jiang Qiao looked at the snow that swallowed his calves, feeling somewhat helpless.
She was from the south, where had she ever seen such a scene?
This was what they meant by “difficult to move even an inch.”
“If we continue forward, we’ll enter the dense area of Honkai Beasts. It’s not easy to handle them while riding. Be content, if the higher-ups hadn’t cleared the way with weapons in advance, we might have had to fight our way in step by step from outside the snowfield.”
Zhi was also helpless.
Unlike the future Schicksal, which had branches stationed for defense all over the world, Fire Moth, at least in the early stages, didn’t have that much influence. The Siberian snowfield was completely unfamiliar territory to them.
“Don’t worry, there are 30 other squads advancing from different directions along with us. The pressure won’t be too great.”
“Now let’s distribute the weapons.”
Zhi dragged several boxes down from the armored vehicle. From their appearance alone, they were clearly high-tech with maximum value.
And when the password was entered and their true form was revealed, it was indeed the case.
High-frequency oscillation series weapons, Anti-Honkai weapons developed by Fire Moth.
“I remember you use bows and arrows, right, Elysia?”
He picked up a bow full of technological flair and handed it to Jiang Qiao.
It was an electromagnetic projectile bow specially customized by the weapons development department according to Elysia’s requirements, with pink coating applied to the exterior per personal request.
The latter froze in place.
“I don’t know how to use bows and arrows at all!”
Under the pink girl’s exterior, Jiang Qiao began sweating profusely.
She wasn’t Elysia, how could she possibly use a bow, a weapon that required maximum technical skill?
“Ahaha, could you give me a gun instead?”
Forcing a smile, Jiang Qiao had to bite the bullet and get another weapon.
This wasn’t the time to care about saving face!
If she couldn’t use weapons on the battlefield, she’d probably ascend to heaven directly.
Besides, if these people discovered she couldn’t use a bow, wouldn’t that be game over?
“Hmm? No problem.”
Zhi didn’t notice anything unusual and shrugged: “Choose whatever you want.”
“I told you long ago that bows and arrows are too outdated. Even with high technology, they’re not useful. On the battlefield, you should choose more practical weapons.”
He seemed quite happy about Jiang Qiao actively seeking other weapons, since weapons were a warrior’s second life.
Jiang Qiao looked at the weapon cache and hesitated for a while, finally picking an electromagnetic hand cannon and a high-power thermal blade.
Fire Moth’s weapon preparation was quite comprehensive.
But thinking about having to use these things to fight the Herrscher of the Void, she still felt a headache coming on.
Jiang Qiao still vividly remembered the scene of the pufferfish fighting Himeko.
The latter, a battle-hardened Valkyrie wielding the Key of Blankness and using the most destructive Herrscher of Flame core, still fought so intensely and evenly.
Jiang Qiao looked at his own small arms and legs, really unable to understand how Elysia had managed to defeat that pufferfish.
Jiang Qiao: “Online waiting, about to fight a Herrscher soon, very panicked, please family members quickly give some advice.”
Seeing Jiang Qiao’s group message, Elysia was quite helpless. She could guess what condition her body with exquisite Honkai Energy utilization skills was in under Jiang Qiao’s control.
After all, she could feel that there was no Honkai presence in her body at all, which meant Jiang Qiao couldn’t use Honkai Energy at all.
But there was no helping it. They had only been in each other’s bodies for about a day, and one had to save Nagazora City while the other had to go to the battlefield to fight a Herrscher. There simply wasn’t much time to adapt!
She could only actively remind him.
Elysia: “Um, you need to properly use Honkai Energy.”
Seeing this message, Jiang Qiao’s mind instantly crashed.
Gah, right, he still had Honkai Energy!
