Chapter I Want To Get Away

Veronica's attempt to shield her ears was futile. Residents were yelling behind her, but Uriel's voice didn't appear to stop. She bit her lower lip and had to go to the elevator, which took her to the top level. "Why Alpha Jaxon seeking for me again now? He could spare a week!"

Veronica exited the elevator, ascended another story, and pulled open the roof door. The bright light dazzled her as soon as the door opened. The rooftop is the size of a square and is now lighted by an uninterrupted stream of powerful lights, making the night sky as dazzling as sunlight.

Four helicopters were positioned in the middle of the light from a distance. So pompous and showy.

She figured out where the noise was coming from. Several rows of beta bodyguards stood beside the helicopter, all standing upright and watchful. Uriel dressed gently, looked at her kindly, and smiled, "Luna."

The night wind on the rooftop was mighty and cold. Veronica tucked her coat and walked toward him, "Uriel, what's the matter? The lights on the roof and the helicopter are way too exaggerated!”

"Well. Alpha flew to the Red Moon pack to attend a dinner party with other packs joined at night, and he planned to return here. I'm concerned that the lighting is weak at night, making it harder to locate the landing zone. So, I laid down some lit runways." Uriel replied with a chuckle.

A runway with lighting. Veronica stared at the lights scattered around the floor, dumbfounded before wondering, "Why landed here?"

Hearing this, Uriel grinned but did not respond, instead turning to stare at a specific helicopter. She followed his eyes and saw Jaxon lounging in the cabin, his long legs dangling over the edge. His expression seemed extremely wicked and arrogant due to his black suit. He lowered his gaze to her while gently shaking a glass of crimson wine in his palm.

"Veronica, am I not appealing enough, or is my aircraft not appealing enough?" Jaxon snorted coldly when he saw her gazing over.

'How could she... She always talked with that Uriel when she reached the rooftop. Can't she see me here?' Uriel talks to his wolf.

'You will scare her again; calm down.' Black retorted.

"What?" Veronica had no idea what he meant.

"You're deaf!" Jaxon smirked at her and sipped his red wine from his glass.

Veronica was chastised strangely and could only persuade herself that she did not deserve to be reprimanded for this man who is paranoid.

"Alpha Jaxon, I'll add some wine to you." A timid voice spoke out.

Veronica observed a woman in a stunning white evening gown standing next to Jaxon as she heard it. She was beautiful and demure, holding a wine bottle to add wine for Jaxon while rubbing her large breasts on his arm.

"Not any longer." Jaxon nonchalantly dropped the wine glass, leaped from the cabin in a gorgeous position, and arrogantly asked Veronica, "Why don't you invite me?"

"Where?" Veronica was perplexed.

"In MY property."

"What—" Veronica's eyes widened in shock, looking at the back of Jaxon. In the harsh night wind, lights all over the ground shone on him, making him full of an inexplicably powerful aura. She saw another young lady in a see-through dress walking out of the cabin, another in a backless dress, a bare midriff garment, and a woman with 42-inch-long legs.

“What the fuck?” Veronica glanced at Uriel suspiciously.

He immediately reasoned out, "The one in the white evening gown is the Alpha's partner today; the princess of Red Moon pack and the other three women are beta gifts that Alpha received at the banquet tonight. A present, to be specific."

'Presents.' Adding the female friends brings the total to four. ‘Can he handle it? A stallion is a stallion, nasty... but what am I feeling? Why am I hurt?’

"But... How does this relate to me?"

"Luna will figure it out later," Uriel remarked, smiling.

Veronica had a bad feeling about this. Jaxon swaggered into Veronica's home with his four women.

The four ladies arrived with scornful attitudes but were astute enough to remain mute. Jaxon stepped into her home, started undressing his clothes as soon as he came in, tossed them aside, and went right to the kitchen, as casual as he was at his place.

"Jaxon...Uhm. I mean, Alpha Jaxon. Why are you searching for me?" Veronica followed quickly. "If you're looking for Morgan, he's okay—"

Jaxon opened the refrigerator, looked inside, and scowled, "Where is the ice cream?"

"What?"

"Didn't you say you could make my ice cream after I ate all of them?" Jaxon shut the refrigerator, leaned against it with one hand, and scowled at her, "Are you lying to me? Do you dare to defraud me?" He gets easily irritated. When he is enraged, the fires of his fury may burn everything.

"I did not deceive you. Wait, you mean...you ate all the ice cream I made?" Veronica realized as she glanced at the attractive face in surprise.

"Give me some ice cream!" He was angry if he didn't take a mouthful of the ice cream she prepared since it was so fantastic for his appetite.

"That's 20 ice cream buckets!" Veronica couldn't believe her eyes. "If eaten slowly and regularly, a typical individual can consume it for two months." She paused and stared intently. "We were just apart for less than 24 hours. Have you already eaten everything? What do you consider ice cream to be, water? Air?"

"I don't care! Give me some ice cream!" Jaxon's rage flared up again, and he yelled, "Hurry up!"

Veronica looked him up and down; Jaxon stood in front of her, tall and motionless, with a golden ratio height, wearing a twill shirt on him like a perfect template, attractive and robust. She returned her gaze to his face. Aside from his rage, his face seemed in excellent condition, and his eyes were deep and vibrant under the heavy brows, looking at her scorching.

Veronica avoided staring at Jaxon since his eyes were as piercing as eagles, capable of swallowing everything. She shook her head. ‘He ate 20 buckets of ice cream in under 24 hours and still looks terrific. It's most likely because he usually follows a strict schedule.’

"What are you doing? You look at me and then turn away?" Jaxon grabbed her arm and pushed her into the refrigerator.

Veronica frowned as he leaned in close to her, the little wine in his lips mingling with the scent of women's perfume poured into her nostrils. "Look, I allow you to look at me, but you must not look at me halfway!"

‘In any case, he isn't ugly.’ Veronica realized that what he did always made her speechless. She was silent for a moment, and before Jaxon further closed to her body, she spoke, "Then you can go home. After I make the ice cream, Uriel will bring it to you."

She dislikes having him near her.

"No! I want to eat it right now!"

Veronica couldn't go against his wishes in front of him and could only nod, "Then I'll go out and purchase some stuff and come back to do it."

It's a comfort to be able to leave the Alpha for a time. However, she heard a voice call to her before she could go.

"Luna, the tools have arrived and are ready." Uriel entered the room with a few servants from outside and laid out all the items.

'Ugh, fuck! I want to get away!'
