Chapter Invitation

The sight in front of her eyes was Jaxon holding her hand as he carry Morgan in his arms. Everything is taken away and changed over time.

"I hope you can keep your words, Veronica. I have tolerated you for so many years. I have endured enough," Helene said quietly behind her. "I love Jaxon, so please quit bothering him. Soon, the Dark Blood pack and Scarlet Night pack would take an alliance against the whole other pack. You can't help him. I can make him the Alpha King. Only I can do that."

Veronica flinched as she heard about it. It took her a few minutes before she regained her composure. "No, I won't be involved longer. You may raise your child peacefully," Veronica replied, turning her head, and looking at her.

Veronica wanted to go, but Helene added again, "Veronica, why do you act weak in front of me? You know that I know you very well." Her voice abruptly got cold, but Veronica remained still.

"The Dark Blood pack members and Uriel constantly comment that you are good-natured and can't figure out why you want to always annoy Jaxon," Helene moved in front of her. "But I know you're not innocent; you're a rebellious wolf who wants to take whatever you want."

"What do you mean?"

"You're the first born child of your pack but after your sister born and your parents give her more care, you always try your best to pretend to be a well-behaved daughter, and you want to win your parent's love. But it's useless because they still threw you away." Helene smirked and gritted her teeth, "But how I wish they didn't kick you out because now, you're taking Jaxon from me!"

Veronica glanced at her, dazed. She was resentful of her words because Morgan can hear them. She didn't expect Helene to be have this harsh actions. But is there any reasons for her to speak? Whatever reaction she will have, she still needs to let go Jaxon.

"It didn't cross my mind that after I came back, you took the initiative to look after him in every way. Do you think I don't understand what your goal is?" Helene scowled.

"You don't care about Jaxon! All you want to do is possess someone; you need someone to be with you; you don't want to be alone! You need someone to help you raise your bastard son—"

"Don't ever go there, Helene! You won't like what I can do if you try to insult my son again!"

Veronica's body got tenser as she stood. She couldn't remember what she had said to Jaxon when she was pregnant. But she was too mad right now to think for that. She perhaps did wrong things in the past but no one is allowed to degrade her son.

'Morgan is Jaxon's son and whether they like it or not, they must accept it!'

Either she eventually be abandoned, she will do everything for her son's right. She will not be a martyr like other parents, who put their child aside.

"Perhaps, Moon Goddess knows what you're plotting. Probably the reason why you entirely forgot about your memory." She laughed. "A punishment to you because Jaxon fell in love with me after your accident." Helene exclaimed triumphantly.

'Me? Plotting something? Is this what I deserve just because my initial intent was not so pure? Do I and my son deserve this?'

"Mommy," Morgan called.

'Tell me, son. Did the Moon Goddess punish me —'

"Mommy!"

Veronica instantly woke up to her loneliness as Morgan growled. "Don't let that witch's provocation take you! You're not lonely! You know that I will always be with you..."

Veronica takes a minute to compose herself before she replies to Helene's humiliation, "Have you mentioned everything now?"

"W-what?" Helene's eyes widened, feeling the embarrassment.

Veronica turned around again. She wanted to leave since she didn't want to listen any longer. As she was ready to open the door, Helene gripped her wrist from behind, and her long claw dug firmly into it.

"Jaxon is mine, Veronica!" Helene was emphatic.

"You don't need to say or express it repeatedly. It will simply indicate that you lack confidence as if you aren't sure of Jaxon," Veronica said gently, shaking her hand away.

"You…" Helene frowned but couldn't argue. That's what she dislikes about Veronica: even if she doesn't say much, she always strikes the nail on the head and hurts people.

Veronica unlocked the door and walked out, leaving Helene's beta secretary outside. When Helene saw the beta, she instantly thought of something, and a grin emerged on her face as she elegantly went up and instructed her secretary, "Give me the fake invitation."

Helene slipped the lovely gilt invitation inside Veronica's purse. Veronica kept a quiet eye on her movements.

"Jaxon and I are getting married at the end of this month. You should be there as supporter and since you're already part of Dark Blood pack, I don't want the elderly in Scarlet Night pack to notice that we squabbles." Helene taunted with a grin, her face particularly lovely.

Veronica didn't say anything and turned to walk away.

Pregnancy.

Marriage.

Double happiness... However, it is not for her.

"Veronica, you're so cunning that abandoning Jaxon isn't a huge thing. You may easily find another Alpha who can get you pregnant again." Helene's voice was heard.

"Then she should ask that Alpha to conduct a procedure of being blind, or she would be sent on another wild goose chase," the beta secretary mocked.

"Ha ha." The laughing is so loud in the silent hallway.

Veronica clenched her teeth and turned away. She moved ahead step by step, free of clutter. She refused to reveal any sign of weakness.

"Are you alright, mommy? Do you want me to deal with her?" Morgan asked, a hint of anger.

A child who have power... that's right, son. You should not let anyone take that away from you.

"I'm okay, son. Thank you for being with me," she answered with a smile as she bent her head.

Veronica returned to the examination department's gate and waited with Morgan. When the nurse called her, Jaxon's phone came in suddenly.

She stared at it for a minute, flashing back what Helene told her. Eventually, she answered it.

"How can you not take my words seriously, Veronica? How could you?!" Jaxon grumbled angrily.

Veronica's thoughts were blank and bewildered after seeing Helene, so she responded quickly, "I'm in the hospital."

They are both at the same hospital but not in the same building.

"Come here then, and I'll give you another 30 seconds." Jaxon's yell almost burst her eardrum.

As she considered this man will soon stop pestering her, a coldness embrace her heart.
