Crimson Vale Academy operates on a brutal meritocracy where reputation is paramount and failure is a permanent blemish. Within its imposing gothic architecture and pristine uniforms, students are constantly evaluated, ranked, and driven to compete. Advancement is hard-won, with only the strongest surviving and the weakest disappearing. Kairon Vale arrives as a transfer student, assigned the lowest Rank D and branded with a black fang as "Obsidian." In this system, points determine a student's worth, and Obsidian-ranked individuals struggle for any chance to climb to the coveted Golden or Platinum ranks, promising comfort and influence. However, this ascent is a near-impossible feat for most. Kairon, however, has no intention of conforming, impressing, or adhering to the academy's established order. His cold, calculating demeanor and unreadable nature allow him to observe the system, patiently waiting. He recognizes that while the academy relies on quantifiable metrics, there's a hidden truth: everyone conceals their true selves behind masks, and these masks are susceptible to being broken.
