I'm in loads of trouble.
"Why are the cops after us?" Bel asked, her big doe brown eyes looking up at me.
"The cops are not after us sweetie." I gave her the best fake smile I could muster.
"Pull over!!! Yellow blue cab!!!! Pull over right now!!!"
"Woman I think they are speaking to us, I'm gonna pull over."
"Yes okay, pull over."
"Yeah." He pulled over. I quickly got out with my hand bag, luggage and an anxious Bel, he pulled over right in front of the mall unknowing to him.
"Hey come back here!!!!" He wanted to come after me but the cops got to him first, I didn't mean to put him in trouble, I watched the scene unfold before me too long, long enough for that receptionist to spot me.
"Hey officer! There she is!!! The child napper!!!" Oh shit, I pulled Bel into the mall and walked really fast, if I ran I would have drawn unnecessary attention and the cops will catch me easier that way.
"Why are the cops after us?"
"They are not sweetheart."
"Then why are we walking really fast, my legs are starting to hurt, did you do something bad?"
"No, I didn't do anything wrong." Less talking more moving, my inner self that really doesn't want to end up behind bars for doing a good deed yelled.
I walked to the snacks isle, where I found canned food, fruits, water, fruit bars, biscuits, I packed what o thought would be enough for us into the shopping cart.
I ran to the clothe isle but quickly came to a halt, Bel is really slowing me down.
"I'm looking for a lady with a child, she has kidnapped the child....." Oh no, I stealthily moved around the clothe isle, I got kid sized coat, leggings, shirt, skirt, gown, sandals, panties and a coat that'll size me too, now time to bolt out of here.
"Adeemah, can I please have that barbie doll?" She pointed at the doll in the toy isle, time is crucial at this point, I can see cops searching for us and that mad receptionist, I forgot this isn't Nigeria, here people don't mind their business, which is a good thing but right now for me its a bad thing.
"We have to go w—"
"Please, pretty please."
"Alright, wait here." I moved quietly and quickly, like a ninja to the toy isle and grabbed the toy, I decided to grab two, I turned back around about to leave.....
"Well well, you blended in quite well, who would have thought your little display back at the hotel when you first arrived and your other dramas with that hot sexy guy was to kidnap an innocent little girl?"
"I didn't kidnap her I—"
"You what?!!!", she gave me a disgusting smug " Cops!! Found her!! She's in the toy isle." How do I get out of this now?
"You better stay where you are?" I yelled to the person behind her, she looked behind her, that was the distraction I needed.
While she was looking for the invincible person I was talking to, I quickly fled, I walked quickly to the clothe isle , put the dolls in the cart and pulled her to where we'll pay for all what I picked. The cops were everywhere, thank goodness they are yet to see my face so they will not recognize me even if they see me.
I'm waiting to get my turn to pay, now the only thing that stands between me and getting out of here is the man that is in front of me, the cops and that receptionist, the man finished paying, it's finally my turn, I off load all what is in the cart so it can be scanned and I can pay, see cops behind me.
"Can you hurry please."
"Please be patient ma'am," I was shaking in my pants right now "your bill is twenty five thousand bucks." Finally done, I brought the money out and paid her.
"Thank you for—" I didn't even let her finish her statement, grabbed the things I bought and Bel, then bolted out of here, so that devil incarnate, the receptionist spotted me as I was reaching the exit.
"There she is, stop her!!" The security started looking around, thank God they don't know what I look like.
"Nobody exit the store!!!!" One of the cops yelled but luckily I got out right before they shut the store closed, phew, that was close, too close.
The cops are right outside with my supposed baby driver, woah, I walked away quickly trying not to be seen, I passed right in front of them dropping the money I was supposed to pay him for bringing me here, the cops' back was facing me so it wasn't too hard.
I called another cab but my unfortunate first baby driver spotted the money and me, today is so my lucky day, yay.
"There she is!!!" Like before I got away in the nick of time.
"Where to ma'am?"
"The coastline."
"That will be one thousand bucks." I couldn't care if he is charging me way to much and trying to cheat me.
"Okay." What's Important is I get to the coast line in less than an hour, oh shit, the cops are behind us.
"Are you okay sweetheart?"
"No! My feet hurts from all that running."
"So sorry."
"Driver faster please."
"We'll be there in about forty minutes."
"Okay." We'll arrive there five minutes before 12:00pm, good."
"I'm hungry." Bel moaned.
"Want a snack?"
"Yeah." I gave her one, she munched on it quietly with her legs crossed.
"Pull over!!!" The cops behind us yelled, after successfully catching up to us thirty minutes later, they are right on our tail, so a repeat of earlier is happening.
"Don't pull over, they are not talking to us, but the car in front of us, so maybe if you go faster it will be better."
"You're right." Bel looked at me and smiled, does she know what I'm getting at? No way she's just a kid.
"How much longer?! Why are you going so slow?"
"We are almost there ma'am, the coastline is just right ahead."
"Okay."
"Pull over Immediately!!!!" They are now back right at our back.
"I think its us they are referring to ma'am."
"Stop thinking and keep driving."
The car came to a halt "we are here ma'am." I paid him his money and got out with a bit difficulty, the cops stopped behind us, Bel and I with my bag and the everything ran to the coastline where we saw a boat waiting for us.
"Stop right there!!! Catch her." My thighs are killing me, we successfully got on the boat and the boat started moving, the damn cops started shooting at us.
"Duck!!" I yelled as I fell flat on my face while Bel carefully laid down on the boat, what is doing this girl? We were now far away from us, ugh, finally, so not going to jail, never ever especially not for doing a good deed.
"You can get up now Miss, we are far away from them now."
"Yeah but I can still hear sounds of gunshot, I don't want any stray bullet hitting me."
"You are such a scardy cat." Bel got up and went further on the boat and took a seat."
So I keep mentioning boat as though its one fancy yacht or big boat we are on, less I forget, the foolish jerk got us a small one, this is the same thing he did when I first went to the hotel, he's a bastard, he could have gotten us a cruise ship or a yacht but no, he chose to get us a small boat instead.
And guess what, it finally dawned on me, I'm currently laying under where the food and other stuffs are supposed to be kept and to whom it may concern I'm currently hiding out in here with a tiger.
I'm hiding in a small confined space with a deadly ferocious tiger, amazing isn't it?
It is asleep, o my goodness, I'm doomed, I'm just going to lay here also, I'm paralysed from fear, I can't move a muscle, it won't hurt or attack me as long as I just stay still besides its asleep.
"I think it'll be best you come out of there, it hates seeing people so close to it, it gets defensive and all."
Who's that? Its asleep so....let me not take any chances what if it wakes and sees me, oh no.
