Dieter's POV
Carter was in fact not happy about the news.
We told everyone at a family dinner and he was sitting beside GG. When we explained what it meant, that he would have a brother his face held no emotion whatsoever.
He seemed unbothered. And has been since then. Even now at our baby shower, he was off with Rena and Danielle, waiting for Ezra to arrive. Seems as though that kid is the only thing that makes him relatively happy. It did make me feel incredibly guilty but I tried not to focus too much on the feeling and relish in the good. That our family was expanding. We would be having another boy.
Sean Charles Romanoff.
Crispin and I both picked the name. I liked Sean and he liked Charles and he wanted to keep the C names going. But I convinced him that Sean Charles was a 'handsome' name. His words. Not mine.
"Look who it is!" James' voice pulled me from my thoughts as I watched them walk into the party with a giant smile on his face. With Finnick right beside him. I hated to admit it, but I missed those goons.
"Hey, daddy." James teased as he got closer and clapped my shoulders.
"Goddess you're disgusting," Finnick said with an amused chuckle. "Dieter, I just want to say, I'm sorry for flirting with Crispin, had I known I wouldn't have." I could sense nothing but truth from him and I could see that it was causing him distress.
"You are forgiven. We are too old to have meaningless fights." I patted his shoulder and all his tension flooded from him and he let out a deep breath. "Have you found your mate?" I asked but I instantly regretted it. His face fell and sadness overtook his features.
"No, I have not."
"Damn, Dieter. Way to ruin the fucking mood." James chimed in and I inwardly groaned. But also made a mental note to introduce him to Tino. They would get along wonderfully.
"A son, how excited you must be," Finnick said quickly changing the subject.
"A brother for Carter. I hope the two grow up close." James' words were light but there was a serious undertone. And I had the same hope as well. "Where is this Koa? I have to meet the man you have replaced us with."
"I have not replaced you." The words slipped out too easily and I groaned as I watched James' face light up at my words.
"That's the nicest thing you've ever said to me." His lip quivered and he immediately wrapped his arms around me in a tight hug. "Get in here, Finnick! He hasn't pushed me off yet." Finnick joined immediately but they stayed there only for a moment before I shoved them off of me.
"Fuck, that was nice." James sighed as he wiped the tears from his face in a dramatic way.
Yeah, where is Tino?
"Dieter!" I turned my head to see who yelled and it was a very angry-looking Ben and he stomped his way over to us.
"Uh oh, what did you do to make my button so mad?" James whispered, his eyes wide as he watched his mate get closer to us.
I always found it quite amusing that James called Ben his button on occasion. He said it was based on some movie I'd never seen, and it was Ben's favorite. And how they one time did something...really weird during it. I didn't ask for details. That was all I needed to hear before I threw up.
"I'm scared, James."
"Me too, Finnick." I rolled my eyes at their cowardly behavior and I offered a small smile toward Ben.
"What seems to be the problem?" I asked as he now stood in front of me, his place card in his tattooed hand.
"How long have I known you?" The question seemed innocent enough, so I answered truthfully.
"Many years. Almost ten."
"Right, so why in the living FUCK is my name spelled wrong?" He slammed the card into my chest and I grabbed it and looked down. It read a simple Benjamin. I didn't see anything wrong with it.
"You spelled his name wrong? Dude, you know Byn is sensitive about that." Finnick said softly as he peaked at the card from behind me.
"Don't call me sensitive." Ben quickly pointed at Finnick and he put his hands up in surrender.
"Of course, my apologies."
"How do you spell your name?" I asked, confusion filling me.
"With a y. It's b-Y-n-j-a-m-i-n. Goddess, you hurt me, Dieter. Badly." Byn snatched the card from me and walked away leaving us again. He headed right toward Crispin and I already knew the conversation that was to be had later that evening.
"How do you always find yourself in trouble, my friend?" My face lit up as I turned to see Koa and Tino behind me. Tino holding a newborn Sloan in his arms. Koa smiled as well and pulled me into a monster of a hug. I was always happy to see my friend, doesn't matter how much time has passed.
"Goddess, that is your best friend. I don't think I've seen you smile that big before in my life." James added as he watched us in awe.
"You get used to it. The bromance and all. I'm Tino." I heard him say though I couldn't see him any longer."
"I'm James. This is my buddy Finnick."
Koa and I pulled away and I watched as Ezra was running in the background with Carter. I felt a lot more at ease now knowing that he was having fun now.
"We will talk soon, but it seems your mate needs you." Koa motioned to Crispin who was waddling his way towards me. I gave Koa one last shoulder squeeze and I went to meet Crispin before he could get too far from his chair.
"My love, where are you going?" I asked him as I put my hands out for him to grab and steady himself.
"I just wanted to walk around and say hello to everyone. Is that so bad?" Crispin sighed in annoyance. He hasn't been taking to pregnancy too well. He prefers to be moving as much as he used to, but Sean was a big boy and it made things difficult for him.
"I understand my love, I will have everyone come to see you instead how about that?" I've also learned how to redirect Crispin in a way that doesn't end up with him in tears. These hormones are no joke.
"Okay fine."
I wrapped my arm around him and we both hobbled until he was back in his seat.
"Did you know Byn's name was spelled with a y?" I asked as we walked, still in slight confusion that I had no idea that it was spelled that way.
"No. But I definitely did NOT tell him that."
I slowly sat him back down and he let out a deep sigh. I kneeled on one knee beside him and he turned to me with a soft smile. He set his hand on my cheek and stroked it with his thumb.
"You are so sweet to me. I love you so much."
"You deserve nothing less. And I love you too." I leaned my head over slightly to set a gentle kiss in the middle of his palm and I sighed in contentment.
"Who would have thought going to a stupid alpha summit would have brought us here?" We both chuckled as we reminisced.
"And because of that I now owe James my life. Because that is what you are. You are my life. My sun. My moon. My stars. I must have done something something amazing to be graced with you." There was nothing but truth in my words as they flooded out.
I look back on my life, knowing I was burdened from birth. But I tried to live life to the best of my ability. And whatever I did must have been right, because I was blessed with this man across from me. Who was now growing our family inside of him? Which I was still processing.
Pregnancy is quite strange.
"Dieter's Prize. I like that." Crispin leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss on my lips. I'll never get used to the feeling of it. Of feeling like I was levitating.
"Dieter's prize sounds like I bought you or something." I chuckled, completely ruining the moment.
"Oh, I didn't tell you that I was only with you for your money?" Crispin teased as he set another kiss on my lips yet again.
"Goddess I knew it! I knew you were a gold digger this whole time. I should have known." Crispin ran his thumb across my bottom lip while we stared at each other. Even though we were surrounded by our close friends and family, we still found a way to become completely enwrapped with each other.
"Your son is kicking, would you like to feel?" Crispin asked as he pressed his hand on his round belly. I nodded quickly as he grabbed my hand and placed it. I took a deep breath and I waited.
"Come on, Sean. Kick for daddy." I whispered to Crispins' belly. Which is something that I have done many times now. But I honestly believed he heard me talking to him. Seconds later I felt the kick. "Goddess he is strong." Crispin chuckled at the reaction and I turned to look at him once more. Those beautiful green eyes drew me in, yet again. "Does this hurt you?"
"Only sometimes, but I've gotten used to his kicks now."
"My big strong man." I teased which caused a blush on his cheeks and a smile to grace his face. I leaned forward kissing him once more. I can't get enough of him.
"I love you."
"I love you."
