Endless Paradise Chapter 12

"A Solar Panel... I think I saw one on the rescue ship."

Bai Mu found his roulette prize in his inventory backpack. Like a video game character, he possessed an inventory that occupied no physical space or weight.

He took out the Solar Panel. It was roughly the size of his bed, its black, reflective surface mirroring the white ceiling lamp.

Bai Mu gave it a quick glance before putting the item away.

Without the sun, this thing was purely decorative.

For now, it could only sit in his backpack gathering dust as clutter. However, he couldn't rule out the possibility of it being useful in the future. After all, it was a prize drawn from the roulette and could be brought into a Script.

Imagine if he had this Solar Panel as starting equipment in the beginner Script, Deserted Island Survival. That would have been quite fantastic.

Even if he couldn't use it to generate electricity, its raw material and smooth surface had plenty of other uses. It could be dismantled to make weapons, or serve as a shield or a sled in critical moments.

Well, since he drew this thing, he had to comfort himself with the thought that it might come in handy one day.

As for now, it could just sit in the backpack and gather dust.

Bai Mu stood up and went to the bathroom. He rinsed the sweat from his palms, washing away his bad luck, before starting the second draw.

The roulette wheel began to spin again. After dozens of revolutions, the pointer landed on a golden "???" section.

[Congratulations, you have won the prize "Police Badge" from the roulette draw.]

[Name: Police Badge]

[Type: Item]

[Quality: Rare]

[Note: Raise your hands! Turn your back to me immediately and squat by the wall. Do not make any sudden movements, or I have the right to empty my magazine!]

Bai Mu retrieved the credential from his inventory, and a small, dark green booklet appeared in his palm. He hadn't seen this specific credential with his own eyes during the Script, but if he had been given a little more time, Stephen would have taken him to meet the official personnel investigating the shipwreck.

He flipped open the dark green booklet. Inside, it perfectly recorded the photograph and badge number of a white investigator. In that specific country, it was an absolutely legal and official piece of identification.

The grade of this item surprisingly reached "Rare". The last thing he had seen that Paradise classified as a "Rare" item was that filet mignon cooked by the luxury hotel.

"What use could this thing have?"

Bai Mu turned the credential over and over, examining it thoroughly. Judging from the item grade, he had drawn something precious. He estimated that if this thing were sold in the Script Shop, it would be worth at least two hundred Points. After all, it was a Rare item.

It was probably far inferior to the car and the handgun, but by drawing it, Bai Mu definitely hadn't lost out.

Whether he actually made a profit or not was unclear, but just like the Solar Panel, it was useless right now. Bai Mu casually tossed it into his inventory to gather dust.

He picked up a dumbbell, exercising his body in the cramped space while simultaneously planning how to use his Points.

Calculated at 108 hours, his safe time had four and a half days left. The Community Time for clearing Deserted Island Survival was originally supposed to be only three days. It was only after achieving an S-grade rating that he was rewarded with an extra day and a half to rest and reorganize.

He calculated the food he needed each day in his head, arranging a balanced nutritional plan for himself.

The community store thoughtfully provided nutritionally balanced "fitness meals" at an incredibly cheap price. A single Point could buy ten well-proportioned meals, including vegetable salad, chicken breast, and potatoes as the staple food.

Bai Mu spent two Points to buy twenty fitness meals. Water didn't need to be purchased separately, as the tap provided a free supply.

"Air", "electricity", and "water", including this very space—he could enjoy all of these without paying any extra funds.

Or rather, the cost of these things was already included in the Community Time reward.

While working out, Bai Mu's gaze shifted to the door near his bed.

Yes, inside his room, there was a door leading to the outside world.

It was a completely sealed door. He couldn't see outside, nor could he hear any sounds from beyond it.

Ever since he arrived in this room, aside from the noise he made himself, the surroundings had maintained an absolute silence.

What was outside the door?

He couldn't help but ponder this question. It was a door with a twisting knob handle. He was very familiar with this style of door; in the middle of the cylindrical lock was a button. Pressing it meant the door was locked and couldn't be opened from the outside, not even with a key.

Pressing it again would reset it, allowing the person inside to leave at any time.

Bai Mu remembered that there was an identification number beneath his attribute panel.

"K8107." This was his Player number. He wasn't the only Player. The place he was in was called a "community" by Paradise. Since it was a "community", it should possess the attributes of one.

As a social space where a group lived together, he believed there was a very high probability of encountering other Players outside that door.

He found himself in a world akin to a video game. As a novice in this game, one of the best ways to survive was to seek out the guides left by predecessors.

He felt it was necessary to go out and take a look. Even if it meant braving certain risks, he had to step outside.

But before that, he needed to anticipate all sorts of possibilities and prepare his countermeasures for them.

He had always preferred forming a comprehensive plan in his mind before taking action.

After exercising for two hours, he took his food out of his inventory.

The fitness meal sold in the community mall included a 500-gram can of chicken breast, a 500-gram can of boiled potatoes, and a 150-gram can of vegetable salad.

They were ready to eat right out of the can, or they could be heated. To save effort, Bai Mu simply popped them open and shoved the food into his mouth.

It had almost no flavor, but it was filling and very healthy, perfectly suited for replenishing energy and protein after a workout.

While Bai Mu was eating, a sudden chime rang out as he received an email.

In the community menu, there was an inbox function as well as a friends list, but his friend count was zero. Who could have sent this email?

Bai Mu opened the message and saw the sender's name: —Community Administrator.

"Hello, I am an Administrator of the community.

"I am very pleased that our community has welcomed another new Player who successfully completed their beginner Script. As a community Administrator, I possess certain managerial privileges granted by Paradise, which is why I can send you this email without adding you as a friend.

"I imagine you must have many doubts regarding your impending future and the place you currently reside. If you are curious about all this, you can come to our community's public activity center for a face-to-face chat with me.

"You are welcome to visit anytime.

"—Light Evening Breeze."
