I chuckle
"Oh really?..." I say as I move closer to him, picking out imaginary lints from his perfectly ironed cotton shirt.
I'm smiling but deep down within me, I'm boiling with rage. The imaginary lints picking and wrinkles smoothing is just a ploy to stay calm and not lose my shit in the presence of this many people.
I'm not mad because he talked shit about me, no. I'm this angry because he brought my innocent mother into the shitty conversation and violated her loving memory yet again right in the presence of everyone.
I'm mad enough to kill the son and mother but I know I have to remain calm. Killing them will give an easy way out of the life of hell I already had planned for them. Death will be me showing them mercy and I'm not that generous a person.
"Yes really!" He replies, trying his best to look menacing. "So better get that into your– UGHHHH!..." He couldn't help but finish his sentence with a loud groan of pain.
He didn't know when the hand picking lint off his shirt shifted to the place in between his neck and shoulder to locate and grab his collarbone.
"Justin, Justin..." I say with a chuckle as he lets out a blood-curdling scream. The painful pressure of my hand on his collarbone slowly forces him to his knees before me.
"If you're better than me, and half the Alpha you claimed to be, then why are you on your knees before me, pussy!?" I growl through clenched teeth as his scream gets louder.
"How dare you mention my mother with your filthy mouth!" I say and tighten my grip on his collarbone.
"I should kill you right now but killing you will be an easy escape since I already planned to make your life so miserable you will beg me to kill you, you good for nothing piece of shit!"
"Let him go, you sick fuck! You're hurting him!... Knox, for god's sake! Are you just going to sit there and do nothing!?" Evelyn screams bedside me but I ignore her and continue talking to her son.
"I am your Alpha for as long as you live in my pack, bozo. So anytime I command you to lie down, you not only lie, but you also roll over like a fucking dog that you are, do we comprehend each other!? I ask him again and he nods vigorously amidst his painful groans
"YES! Yes! Yes! Ughhhh... I'll not only lie down, but I will also roll over like a dog!... Ughhhh, fucking hell! Stop already! Please! Please!..." He begs and sobs with tears and snot streaming down and running into each other on his face.
His mother, our father, and the rest of the people in the room heard what he said about me and my mother. They also see how I reduce him to squealing in pain like a fucking stuck pig without breaking a sweat. That will serve as a lesson to anyone else who might want to talk shit about me or my mother in the future.
Justin isn't the only one squealing. Evelyn also screams till she starts to beg like she's the one in pain. I still don't stop. I wouldn't have stopped anyway even if my dad or Eric, the two most important people in my life right then begs me to. Evelyn called me evil and I'm glad the opportunity to show her how evil I can truly be presented itself.
Even after he fell unconscious when the pain became too much for him to bear, I still did not relieve the pressure on his collarbone. I apply more pressure till I feel the thin long bone snap under my grip.
I leave him lying on the floor and turn to his mother who is gasping for breath so badly I thought she would also fall unconscious like her son.
"Now go sit your ass down, I'm not done with you yet!– and please stop with the sniffles, it's annoying as hell!" I say and watch her hurry back to her seat and quietly sit down with her handkerchief practically stuffed in her mouth to prevent her from crying out loud.
I look around the room and see just a handful of people are left
"Hurry up guys, we don't have all day!" I say to my men who are still searching the people's phones to see if they secretly made any video. I want all the people out before we start discussing anything.
Finally, when they're all gone, I walk to where my dad is now sitting at the defendant's side of the court. Immediately, Owen leaves my dad's leg and crawls on his knees to me.
"Please, Alpha Thor! Show mercy! Don't let my family be punished for a crime they know nothing about!" He continues to beg with tears in his eyes
"What gives you the guts to ask me to show mercy, Owen!?" I ask coldly "Did you show mercy when you wanted to kill my father!? You aimed for his heart with a gun that had silver bullets in it and shot him twice! Still, you weren't satisfied. For you to be sure he didn't survive the silver bullets you stabbed him in the neck with a 10ml syringe filled with wolf's bane and vampire venom! How can you be that callous to the person who gave you the life you're living right now?..."
My eyes drift to where Carol and Victoria still stand clutching at each other
"And they called me a callous, evil, and cold-blooded killer," I say and the two women wince out of shame. I really feel sorry for them.
My gaze drifts back to Owen whose face is now fixed on the floor out of shame
"He would have died instantly after you shot him if you hadn't missed your target by about half an inch. Hell, he would have died anyway if he didn't strive to immediately dig the bullets out with his fingernails despite the painfully deadly combination of vampire venom and wolf's bane coursing through his veins! The doctor said he would have died if we were five minutes late in bringing him to the hospital.
But of course, your wicked act didn't stop at that. You needed someone to take the fall for your evil deed. What better scapegoat could you find than me, the son that you all hated just because his parents fell in love with each other? The same me that you're now asking to show your family mercy."
"I'm sorry, I was selfish! I'm so sorry!..." His whole body shakes as he sobs.
"It's not my fault! That was what they asked me to do! They would have killed my family if I hadn't done what they wanted, please! What was I supposed to do!? Your dad couldn't even help himself. He had to send you away to stay with your Uncle. I have no one to send my family to!
Call me ungrateful, selfish, ruthless, and any other bad name you could ever think of. I deserve it. I also deserve the death sentence I got. I deserve to die in the most horrible way ever for what I did to you and your dad but my family doesn't! My daughter is just nineteen. She hasn't seen much of life. Hasn't even met her mate yet. Please, Alpha! Please..."
"Okay, I've heard everything you say. Tell me one thing though. Who are these people you were talking about? Are Evelyn and Justin involved with them?" I ask and Evelyn immediately stops sniffling
She suddenly starts to laugh like a deranged woman.
"Tell him, Owen. Tell him who sent you to kill your Alpha. Is Evelyn and Justin among them?..." She mocks and laughs some more.
"You understand the consequences before you decide to kill your Alpha, don't you? So don't be a coward. Do the right thing."
Evelyn's words might sound normal to anyone who doesn't know her but I know better. I clearly heard her as she stressed on the words 'consequences' and 'do the right thing.' I wonder what she meant when she told him to do the right thing.
Owen looks hatefully at her before returning his gaze to me,
"I wish I could tell you what you asked Alpha but I can't! Try to understand that they will kill my family!"
"Your family is going to die a disgraceful death in three days anyway if you don't start talking right now!" I remind him of the judge's sentence. "Who are the 'they' you keep referring to?"
"Daddy, please!" Victoria sobs hysterically. "You were forced into doing this because of us, I understand but you have to tell the Alpha what he wants to know! Who are the people threatening you!?"
His frustrated countenance softens
"I can't baby, I'm sorry. Telling will only make things worse not just for us but for a lot of people. You will be okay. Trust me, you and your mother will be okay." He smiles reassuringly at his daughter before turning back in my direction.
"Alpha, what I'm trying to prevent is bigger than you and your brother fighting over who will be Silver Moon pack's Alpha. Trust me on this!"
I laugh
"Trust you!?" I scoff at him with a raised brow. "That must be the joke of the century, Owen don't you think?"
"Yes, you don't have to believe me. I have, however, accepted my faith. I'm ready to die, just– just please show mercy to my girls..." He's still talking when the courtroom door opens and four hefty Council police officers walk inside. They walk to one of the bailiffs
"Owen Hampton and family! It's time to leave." The bailiff announces while also pointing out Carol and Victoria to the police officers.
