Chapter Fucking Americans

Thor's POV

I admit to acting childish. She made me angry but I shouldn't have acted the way I did. I shouldn't have ignored her. I didn't mean for the issue between us to take this long before it was resolved.

I just wanted to ignore her until we arrived at the car so she would know how it feels. How I felt when she locked me out of the bathroom and also prevented me from talking to her through the mind link.

I thought we would talk about it in the car and settle before we arrived home. I wasn't expecting her to return to the car armed to the teeth with tools she would need to ignore my existence the more. I was disappointed and pained and my anger became fuelled. How can I be planning to settle with her and she was planning not to?

Damn, Eric! Why couldn't he mind his own fucking business! He's supposed to help calm her, not encourage her to ignore me. What the fuck is his problem

We arrived at Alpha's mansion and I was surprised at how she couldn't wait to get away from me. The way she slammed the door so hard showed how angry she was and I just wonder why. Why is she angry? I'm the one who was wronged not her so why?

I couldn't help but slam the door out of frustration myself. I would have loved to kick the darn thing so I could take my frustration out on it if not for Eric who was watching me from his car.

"Bastard!" I murmur toward him as he gets out of his car and walks toward me.

"Don't look at me like that, I didn't do anything to you."

"Yeah, you didn't! You only encouraged my mate to ignore me." I say as I walk toward the mansion.

"How did I encourage her? She wanted to ride with me but I refused. I couldn't refuse when she asked if I had something to keep her company. She's my Luna!"

"Yeah right, you couldn't!"

"What happened between you guys anyway?"

"Shut up! I don't want to hear your voice right now."

"Should you guys even be having a disagreement this early in your relationship? You're supposed to..."

"Thank you, Eric. Now, please shut up and mind your damn business! Please!"

Ella comes out of the mansion before we arrive at the door.

"Welcome, General. Beta." She greets us with a slight bow.

"Thank you. Where is everyone? Are they ready to leave?" I ask her

"Yes, they are. They're having their breakfast right now... What would you like the chef to prepare for you?"

"Something fast. A sandwich would be nice." I reply

"Same for me too," Eric says

My mood lightens when we arrive at the dining room. My Uncle stands up, grinning from ear to ear the moment he sees us. He walks towards us with his arms spread wide.

"Thor. Eric... Have you guys heard about my good news? The Moon goddess finally smiles down at me and gives me a second chance at love. I have a mate now..." He says, happily hugging Eric and me when he arrives in front of us.

"Congratulations Uncle," I say, fondly slapping his back as I hug him back

"Congratulations Uncle. " Eric also says. "It's been a long time coming."

"Yeah. It's really been a long time coming. Twelve years! I still can't believe it myself!" He says as he happily grins.

"Where's Ash? Didn't you come back with her?" He asks, checking behind us.

Even though I was expecting them to ask about Ash, I wasn't prepared for it. I hesitate not knowing how or what to reply to him with.

My dad and everyone else are having their breakfast. How can I say in the presence of everyone that me and my mate who I just reconciled with two days ago are already having issues with each other? It sounds crazy. They would think me irresponsible.

"Yeah, we did," Eric replies in my stead, saving me from what would have been the most humiliating day of my life.

"She quickly went to the back of the house to take care of something. Luna duties you know... Where is your new mate by the way?..." He smoothly changes the subject, not giving our Uncle the chance to comment further on the matter.

He looks around. "Is she here?... Please, Uncle, don't tell me you allowed her to return to her place yesterday?... Did you?... C'mon, man! You're supposed to keep her tied to your bed, how could you let her leave just like that!?..." He keeps talking, making everyone laugh as he escorts our Uncle back to his seat.

"I know two wolves in this room who weren't half the gentleman that you are when they met their mates. They couldn't even bear to let the poor girls out of their sight. I remember it took me a great deal to persuade and talk one of them out of kidnapping his mate from her pack the first time he met her and she wasn't even eighteen then."

I roll my eyes in amusement as everyone laughs. Of course, we all know the two wolves he's talking about are me and Ivar and the one that wanted to kidnap his mate was me. Apart from the seer that we all didn't know when he met his mate, Ivar and I are the only two wolves in the room who have found our mates.

Uncle Elias can't stop laughing

"You rascal! Of course, I allowed her to go back to her place. I'm taking her to dinner tonight though. I am an elder, remember? I can't be acting like an irresponsible youngster right in the presence of my mate's daughter. I have to be a good example to the kid."

"The kid isn't such a kid Uncle, she's nineteen. At least give us a better excuse. We will understand if you admit you've gone rusty and out of practice you know." I say and the whole table erupts with another round of laughter

No! I haven't gone out of practice, y– you bastard!" He stammers as he hastily looks around us. He then lowers his head and says in a lower tone

"Thank God, Ash and Ella are not here to hear this disgrace from both of you. Fucking Americans! You both are so brazen you're roasting your Uncle now instead of each other, huh?"

"Well, If you say so, Uncle..." Eric replies this time. "But you really don't need to convince us, it's your new mate you need to show tonight after dinner that you're not a gentleman and..."

"Guys, guys, calm down, c'mon!" My dad raises his hands to interrupt Eric mid-sentence, calming the barrage of chuckles and laughter around the breakfast table.

"Elias is right. During our days, showing a lady how gentlemanly you are was important and a plus to win her heart the more you know."

"Well, that was during those days Pops. If Moon goddess should grant you a second chance at love I hope you'll make us proud?"

"What?..." My dad chuckles, looking surprised by my statement. "Second chance at love?" He asks again, not believing I can say that.

"He's right Uncle Knox," Eric adds "If Moon goddess should give you a second chance at love, please represent the team well and not act like Uncle Elias here."

"Why, y– you..." Uncle Elias can't get the right words out of his mouth. Not when he's almost choking himself with laughter as the table also erupts with another round of laughter.

"You need to stop talking like this about your Uncle you rascals!" He finally says when he's able to get words out.

"Why is it hard for you idiots to understand or what would it take to convince you that I'm just being a gentleman to the lady? I haven't gone rusty or whatever you think, understand?"

The maids show up with our food right then. Seeing the opportunity to escape, he immediately gets up from the table.

"I'll be in my room. Call me when you're ready to leave. Boneheads!" He says and hurries off. I bet he's afraid we will continue to roast him even with the maids around

"Wow, that's fast," Eric comments as my dad also stands from the table.

"Let me go get ready. Call me when you're ready to leave..." He says and also leaves.

The maids push the trolley nearer to the table and immediately bow their heads

"The chef didn't make these. The Luna did. That is why it's fast." One of them says.

"Raise your heads!" I command, wondering about her statement.

"The Luna cooked? Why would the Luna cook? What happened to the chef?"

They look flustered

"The Luna said she wanted to make the sandwich exactly like how her mother used to make it for her. We were asked to watch while she cooked so the chef can be able to make it the exact way next time."

Now I understand

"Oh! Okay, finish up and leave." I say and they hurriedly set the table before scuttling away with their heads still half bowed

After they leave, I look towards Eric and see his attention is fully on his plate.

'Thanks, man.' I say through our mind link since some of the men are still around the table. I'm glad at the way he expertly directed the conversation away from my mate when my Uncle asked about her.

Yeah...' He replies, picks a sandwich, and bites into it.

'I owe you,' I add as I watch him chew and savor his food

"Damn, this is so good, man. Ash sure can cook. You should taste it. So, so good!..." He says in reply instead.
