Chapter The chosen one 2

Eric looks very serious. Even though there's no trace that he was joking with me on his face, I still found what he said hard to believe. How can someone who has had the wrong mindset for years be among the chosen ones?

"Are you being serious with me right now, Eric? This is not the time to joke around, my dad is with us. It will be disrespectful if you're joking about such a serious matter."

I deliberately emphasized on my dad and the time not to joke since I know the scoundrel does whatever he wants in the presence of his Uncle Knox as he calls my dad

He rolls his eyes at me in exasperation before turning to my dad instead

"Uncle Knox, you said the mark to know a chosen one is a red crescent moon located in a private place on their body so it won't be easy for the enemies to notice right?"

"Yes..." My dad replies with a frown of concentration on his face."

''Well, I saw something like that on your right butt cheek when you were in the shower earlier..."

"My right butt cheek?" I said and immediately stood up, stupidly turning my neck to check my behind as if I could see through my pants and boxer shorts.

I wonder why my dad doesn't have anything to say about what Eric just revealed to us. I look up at him and I see stark terror on his face. He looked as white as a sheet like all his blood had just been drained out of him. Is he scared of me being among the chosen ones?

Then he tightly shut his eyes and clutches at his heart like he's about to have another heart attack. As I rush to hold his hand, Eric also rushes to the door.

"Get the doctor now!" He shouts to Henrik and Bear who are standing guard there.

Within minutes, the doctor arrived looking disheveled like he had just been pulled out of bed.

"Make way!" He says and we all stand aside to allow him. We watch as he administers treatments while mumbling under his breath...

"I thought I left instructions that, no surprises! I said he should avoid anything that will bring excitement and trigger another heart attack!?..." We left the room to allow the doctor to do his job.

After some terrifying minutes, the doctor comes out. I heaved a sigh of relief when he told me my Dad has finally been stabilized and now sleeping.

"Thank you," I say gratefully and move to go see him but the doctor stands between me and the door, preventing me from seeing my dad

I look at him with surprise. Has he lost his mind? I wonderingly thought to myself.

"Please leave, visiting time is over!" He tells me straight to my face. Yes! He has indeed lost his mind for

for daring to stand in my way.

"Excuse me!? That's my dad!" I say to remind him. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. He saved my dad's life twice already and I appreciate him for that.

"I know he's your dad but with all due respect sir, I don't care!"

I growled in anger then. He was startled and jumping with fear before taking like three steps back, far away from my arm's reach. Which is good for him because I'm so angry I want to pick him up with his neck and slam him hard against the brick wall.

"Thor!" Eric calls and holds my arm as I slowly advance toward the idiot doctor but I shrug him away

"You!?..." I questioningly growl with a raised brow. "You want to stop me from seeing my father! Are you fucking kidding me right now!? Who the fuck do you think you are!?" I question in disbelief, my voice, low but threatening.

"I– I wish I was..." He boldly replies in a shaky voice.

My brow quirks in disbelief. I take another step after him as he backs away

"I– I'm sorry and I hope you understand that I mean no disrespect. As his son, I– I know I can't really stop you from seeing him but as his doctor, I strongly advise against it because I'm not sure if he can survive another heart attack.

He needs to rest and his heart needs to heal. I– I don't see how he's going to have the much needed rest for his heart to heal if he keeps having a recurrence of heart attacks. Please! Please understand me..." He speaks really fast like his life depends on it.

"Thor, let it go. Please, man, stop!" Eric holds my arm again. This time, firmly.

I nod at him without taking my eyes off the doctor.

"The next time you speak to me the way you just did right now, I'm taking your tongue just for the fun of it. Know your place!" I finish saying before walking toward my dad's room.

Like the doctor told us, he's sleeping peacefully when we enter. He looks like he has aged ten more years within the last minutes and my heart aches seeing how fragile my once strong father that ruled over the largest pack in North America now looks.

He brought up the topic of the original and the chosen ones. I thought he was happy that some chosen ones will help bring about the end of House Denton. How would we have known that the thought of his son being among these chosen werewolves would scare him that much?

I smooth away the lock of hair that has fallen over his eyes and kiss him lightly on his forehead before walking out of his room.

"You can take turns guarding and resting. We'll move him back to the estate tonight. Call me immediately if there are any emergencies." I tell Henrik and Bear before leaving with Eric.

Of course, I know the doctor was right about my dad. I just wanted to see him before I leave, I wasn't planning on disturbing him. I would have left him alone to rest after I see him. He didn't have to talk to me like a child who couldn't tell his right from his left. He's lucky he's the only doctor in charge of my dad, otherwise, I would have indeed taken his tongue for being so disrespectful.
