Diana had faced off with all the strongest soldiers and she beat them all. It was time to face Yolanda after which she would face Theodore.
"Those soldiers you beat are weak," Yolanda whispered. "I'm not your regular soldier."
"Cute," Diana replied.
Yolanda smirked. She started by attacking. Diana was on defense, allowing Yolanda to exhaust her strength.
"I know what you're doing." Yolanda panted.
"Let me just say, it doesn't work on me."
"Jasyn has given me some special drugs that allow me to fight for hours without feeling exhausted."
"Cute," Diana replied again.
Yolanda hated that her words were not able to rile Diana up. She needed to do something to break her confidence.
"You know, your son might just expect you to lose and return to cuddle him to sleep," Yolanda said. "Only that mommy will be coming home shamefully because she was beaten sore by her fellow woman."
Diana stared back at her calmly, not responding to her. She saw through Yolanda's plan and the only reason she was trying to hold back was that she didn't want to draw the first blood.
"Mute? Hm.." Yolanda smirked. "I bet you weren't quiet that night when Coco's father was giving you-"
Diana had heard enough, she moved two steps back, jumped, and sent a hard kick to Yolanda's head. The other woman was knocked out cold. Diana smirked and wiped the sweat that trickled down her jaw.
"Look who's mute now." She spat at her. Jasyn was impressed. She had been quick and precise and she was able to knock Yolanda out very quickly and easily, something no one could ever achieve but him. Even Theodore had a hard time doing it.
"Theodore," Jasyn called. "You're up next."
Theodore walked over to where Diana stood. He offered him a small smile. Diana was taken aback. The man was handsome and his smile touched the depth of her soul. She moved a step back from him.
"Hello, you have impressive skills." He said. "I don't think I want to fight you, but it's customary."
Diana shrugged. "I can get it done and over with very quickly."
Theodore chuckled. "Let's see."
Diana dodged a punch he sent and hit him in the guts with her hand. Theodore felt slight pain but it left almost immediately. Diana noticed it and she saw the way his eyes flashed. She smirked. He was a werewolf.
The battle was going to be her best. Diana freed herself and allowed herself to enjoy the fight. Theodore was also surprised as to why and how she was able to still stand despite the strength of his attacks.
Jasyn noticed that the battle was lasting for a long. He understood Theo's perseverance, but how Diana was still able to stand was something he couldn't phantom.
"Not tired?" Theo asked, still sending attacks while trying to dodge hers.
"Nope, you?" Diana asked in return.
"Nope."
They continued for long until Diana whacked him by the side of his neck, knocking his breath out of him, and before he could regain his stance, she kicked him in the stomach, sending him five feet backward. He landed on his back. She won.
"Well done," Jasyn said, offering her a bottle of water and a towel. Diana thanked him, collecting them from him. Theodore got up a few seconds later and made his way over to them.
"That was brilliant, I enjoyed it," Theodore said, stretching his hand out for a handshake.
Diana shook his hand. "Me too. First time I'd been with someone who matched my perseverance."
Jasyn felt a little pissed off, being sidelined instantly. "Alright, that's enough. Save the pleasantries for later." Theodore winked at her and went away. Jasyn scowled at his actions. He turned to find Diana not even staring at either of them.
"Let's get you your uniform, you're officially welcome to the army," Jasyn said. "With skills like this, if you continue, you will be made a commander by the next promotion."
"When is the next promotion?" Diana asked.
"Two months," Jasyn answered. "We have a war in three weeks. It will last for a month or longer."
"For the duration of that period, we will be out in the woods, in the forest where we camp. I hope your boy can eat regular food because that long away from you is not going to be too healthy."
"Can I not take a day off a week to be with him?" She asked.
"Where we would war cannot be close here," Jasyn answered. "Asking your nurses to bring the child with them is -"
"If it's about safety, let them bring my boy," Diana said. "I trust that he is as strong as his mother."
Jasyn stared at her. "What makes you think so?"
"Because I'm his mother," Diana said as if it was the most obvious thing, well it certainly was.
"Whatever happens, make sure to not relent. If you keep up with this pace, you will become a commander by the next promotion." Jasyn advised. "I assure you."
"Thank you Jasyn," Diana said. "You've been most helpful."
Jasyn nodded. Diana left him and headed to the dorm. She was about to enter the building when she heard her name. She turned to find the smiling Theodore behind her.
"For a soldier, you sure do smile a lot." She commented. Theodore caught up with her and they resumed their walk.
"You're so strong." He said. "Does this have to do with a special type of blood that you possess?"
Diana stared at him. Why were they so open with their confrontation? Not that she was used to hiding it, but at least, couldn't they just manage to contain their curiosity for the sake of privacy?
"Don't be scared, I'm a werewolf myself." He said, still smiling. "That's how I managed to survive here. I was brought into the army because of my abilities. Even Jasyn is a werewolf."
"I'm very much aware of all that, Theodore," Diana replied, heading inside her dorm.
Theodore stopped outside. "I'm not supposed to be allowed in there."
"Why? Petyr did come in with me to drop me, so I assumed anyone could come in." Diana stated.
Theodore smiled. "You're a beautiful woman, Diana. And although it's my first time meeting you, I can't say I'm not affected by your beauty."
Diana was shocked by his confession. Of course, she knew she was beautiful, but being with Calhoun changed a lot of things about her, like the confidence she had in herself and her appearance in general.
"I will come in after we have become friends officially." He said. "Till then, bye pretty."
He turned and walked away. Diana was stuck, staring at his retreating figure. She didn't know when Julitta came up behind her.
"He's hot."
Diana didn't flinch. She simply sighed softly. "How can he be so bold?"
Julitta shrugged. "How not? He's a commander, many females here have a crush on him. Even I have a crush on him."
"Then we might have a problem," Diana said.
"Why?" Julitta asked. "Because he's interested in you? Diana, if you want to accept him, I will wholeheartedly support you! Till the end!"
Diana turned to face her. "Why?"
"When we met on the train, you trusted me with your food. Something that could affect your health, that was something I couldn't ever forget. You allowed me to give you a place to stay, ate what I cooked and I was a total stranger to you." Julitta explained. "If this is who you choose, then I will begin to see him as a brother."
Diana hugged her. "Julie, you're so good!"
"Yes, now go get him!"
"I never said I was going to get him." Diana chuckled. "I only wanted to know why you'd be willing to let your infatuation go all because of me."
"Duh." Julitta shrugged.
"What if it was Yolanda who asked, would you let him go?"
Julitta growled. "I would rather rape him and fall pregnant and then force him to wed me than allow him to have anything called romance to do Yolanda."
Diana busted out laughing. "Girl, you make me laugh."
"I can see that," Julitta murmured. She turned back to be certain she wasn't heard by Yolanda or any of her cohorts.
"Don't worry, Julie. Jasyn has told me something." Diana said, bringing her closer. "Jasyn said there's a chance I might become a commander in two months."
Julitta's eyes went wide open. "If you do, be sure to choose me as your assistant!"
Diana paused. "Do we get assistants? We get to choose our assistants?"
"Yes of course! How do you think Yolanda's pride got so high? It's because Jasyn chose her. Since she happens to be the only female commander and she is human." Julitta narrated. "Perhaps since you're here now and you know, you're not... He can promote you to become not just a commander, but also the deputy chief commander."
Diana didn't know how to react to the news. In reality, she had only joined the army so that she could get information about the plan Eugene was hatching against her kind, knowing fully well that her country was known far and wide for the number of wolves that abide there and the peace they share with the humans.
Perhaps Eugene thinks peace is overrated and it is not as true as it sounds. She couldn't phantom what his reason was, that was why she wanted to know the plan. She wanted to study it from the blueprints and what better way to know someone's mind than through his servants? The people who will still carry his thoughts and ideas out.
This was her reason for being in the army, but she wasn't about to tell that to Julitta. She knew she could trust her, but she was going to bid her time, slowly turning the girl into a mini version of herself the first, then she would tell her what her plan was. Perhaps then, she could watch as Julitta would hatch her plan for her.
She smirked. Maybe if she was able to save Wisteria, she would make a pact with Calhoun. They will rule Wisteria together, and whatever she says goes as well. Calhoun will be too indebted to her to refute.
She shook her head. The Calhoun she knew would just twist her words and end up making her promise to serve him instead. Doing that was going to be very risky.
"C'mon, let's go and see Coco. We have to spend as much time as we can with him for now. The battle will be tough and who knows how well you can survive without good food and water." Julitta said, pulling Diana into the dorm.
Diana chuckled. "I have been starving for days and I never died. Although I will become weak but still very strong when compared to human strength."
"I forgot to ask, what do they use to war here? In my kingdom, we use swords and arrows. Only on a few occasions do we use guns."
"We use guns here," Julitta answered. "Only on a few occasions do we use swords. If it's like an interstate war. But in a war against countries like this, we use guns."
Diana nodded. "What kind of bullets do they use?"
"I will show it to you," Julitta said. "I have a gun in my drawer, it's loaded."
"Oh, I just wanted to know if it was silver or gold," Diana murmured.
Julitta took her up to her room and opened the drawer. Diana saw different sizes of guns and bullets for reloading.
"You said you had a gun in your drawer, you didn't say there were many guns," Diana said. "Silver bullets?"
"Guns?" Julitta asked in surprise, bending over Diana to be certain she heard correctly. "I swear, I do not know how they got in there."
Diana grabbed the guns which Julitta identified weren't hers. She took them to Jasyn's office and kept them in his drawer. He wasn't in the office for whatever reason.
Just after coming out, she found some ladies pulling Julitta toward Jasyn's office.
"Commander, she stole some guns and hid them in her drawer." One of them said.
