Leah's point of view...
It is sometimes said that love makes us strong. However, this is sometimes the source of our weakness. Now, I believe what others say about how difficult it is to love because destiny choose whose and whose not for us.
'Amoux is ours, Leah,'
I just shook my head from the frustration I was feeling. Amoux can't be mine because he is the Lycan heir and the Nightwalker pack's future. An omega? Vile!
How can he be mine if he and Anaya are fated, mates?
I took a deep breath because I still had to go to Anaya to teach her how to heal.
I must avoid Amoux first! Can I handle that? I've loved Amoux for a long time, so is it possible to avoid him as much as I can?
I went to the bathroom to take a shower and immediately got dressed afterward. Possibly, Anaya has been waiting for me for quite some time now. I only wore a dress because I was only going to teach her.
I came out of my room when I spotted Damon darting his gaze at me. A smile on his lips crept through my whole body too much.
"Leah, you look beautiful in your dress."
I just went straight, but he followed. This man has no shame and couldn't read the room. I guess he doesn't realize that I don't want to talk to him now.
"Leah!" He grinned.
I want to scalp the smile from his lips. Is there something funny about my appearance?
"The little wolf is not in a good mood. If so, I'll tell the Lycan not to teach Anaya as of now," Damon's face showed concern, making me turn to him.
I sighed because why am I making him feel guilty for my stupidity? He's making friends with me, so why am I angry?
"It's OK. I can still teach, Damon. And thank you for worrying about me," I tried to smile in front of him, but he frowned.
'Ah!'
I was surprised when he touched my forehead as if he was checking if I was sick or not. "You don't have to force yourself to teach. I will talk to the Lycan."
"Damon, I'm fine. Thank you very much but I have to go see Anaya."
I turned away from him, but he still tailed behind me while I quickly spotted Anaya with Amoux.
She welcomed me with her smile as if her world revolved around Amoux, similar to me, but I was only stealing half of his world. I felt my chest tighten as if a heavy object had been placed on it. I forced myself to smile at them. I had to show that I was happy! I won't let myself look like a fool!
"Leah, I thought you wouldn't be able to come," I saw a genuine smile on her face. She hugged Amoux before me, so I tried not to look away. I have to slap myself that Amoux is not mine, that I don't own him! He can't be mine no matter what happens because I have minor importance to him.
"The Lycan prepared some herbs for you to teach Anaya," said Amoux. He was staring at me, but I didn't look at him.
I need to show him that I can ignore him. I can do that; he doesn't exist in my world!
The guards immediately came to us with the medicinal plants on a tray. I smiled because I remembered Rachel.
I taught Anaya one by one the medicinal properties of each leaf in front of her. I could see she was focused while I was talking. Of course.... it was for Amoux.
I took a deep breath and then taught her how to use the plants in front of her.
"Wow! You learned all this, Leah," the amazement could not be erased from her eyes. They sparkled the way she looked at her mate.
Learning how to heal is fantastic because I used to be like this when Rachel taught me.
While busy, we heard a thud and saw the Lycan King approaching us with his Luna.
"I'm happy that you started teaching Anaya how to heal, Leah," Luna smiled at me.
I just nodded in response.
I glanced at Damon, who was staring too hard at me. His eyes were shining. He immediately took his gaze away from me and then slowly swallowed.
"It's good then. Anaya must learn that thing because her mate's life depends on it," The Lycan King looked thoughtfully at the herbs and then looked up at me.
"After you teach Anaya, you will first become Damon's apprentice. Amoux still needs you when he's in danger, Leah,"
"And didn't we tell you that you will have a laboratory? It's coming soon, so get ready for what you're going to do,"
I felt excited when the Lycan King told me about the laboratory. I can study what needs to be explored, and I need to find that leaf that can cure diseases.
"But you will still be training, and Damon will take care of that," added the Lycan King. I just nodded because I also thought I could do more than just treatment. I should be able to save myself too.
"Lycan, don't worry. I'm going to get better at training Leah."
"I believe you, Damon. Especially since Amoux and Anaya are about to get married, you also need to find your mate,"
There was a long silence. I stopped looking at Anaya and Amoux because it would hurt me. The two-year that Lycan gave are fast, so they are preparing. I felt difficulty of my breathing while thinking about Amoux's appearance with Anaya.
'Amoux is ours, Leah!'
It's impossible...
I sighed and turned to the Lycan.
"Leah, haven't you found your mate yet? Didn't you turn eighteen a while ago?" The Lycan King's face was solemn as he looked at me. It was like he was reading my entire being, so I bit my lip.
I don't know what to answer. I love Amoux, and a part of me says he's my mate, but why are he and Anaya also fated to mate? I was suddenly confused because of what was happening.
"Lycan, I guess she hasn't found her mate yet. I guess it's better that she wanders off to find him," Damon replied, winking at me.
"Many people visit different packhouses to find their mate. But if nothing else, I would highly recommend that you wander here at Nightwalker."
"She doesn't need to look yet, she's too young to find. It's better for her to focus on what she needs first, Lycan," Amoux suddenly contradicted what the Lycan King said. I saw the anger in his eyes that he was trying to hide. He looked at me as if he was going to strangle me.
I saw Damon's frown because of Amoux's objection. I took another deep breath. Why are they wondering who my mate is? I think more about the pain I feel because of Amoux!
"I'm just saying that because Leah is also part of the Nightwalker. She is also your personal doctor."
"I haven't thought about my mate yet, Lycan. I think more about what I do in medicine. I'm looking for something that will help what I'm studying," I couldn't stop myself from speaking because they might argue. I saw Amoux's body relax and then frowned at me. Anaya was touching his chest area while smiling.
"Alright, but if you find your mate, tell us. Welcome him to Nightwalker." The Lycan face showed authority as he said that. There is an emphasis as if whoever opposes can do nothing.
"It's good if you found your mate, Leah. There is different joy when you have a companion in life," said the Luna with a smile.
"Lycan, if Leah can't find her mate and if I can't find my mate either, can it be just the two of us?" Damon's words silenced the surroundings. My eyes widened when I heard what he said.
I was even more surprised because the tray containing the medicinal herbs fell. Amoux looks at Damon as if he wants to kill him.
