Chapter 35 : The Goddess

"Well, young lady, you look quite familiar."

The red-haired woman in the image smiled playfully at Cecilia.

Facing her former enemy, Cecilia tried her best to appear natural.

"Your Majesty, hello. We met once on the battlefield, and I'm standing here now entirely thanks to your mercy."

Alexandra looked at Elashia and Candice, and spoke:

"Tell me, what do you need my help with?"

Elashia replied:

"We need your help to explain the reality of the Undead Calamity to Elasia Empire's current and future military commander. Since she will be a crucial part of Elasia Empire's resistance against the Undead Calamity, she must now know about the impending disaster."

Hearing that the matter was related to the Undead Calamity, Alexandra put away her smile and said seriously:

"Fine, since you've appointed her as Elasia's current military commander, you must be prepared for her to serve until sacrifice, right?"

Elashia nodded.

"Yes."

What?!

Cecilia was shocked.

Did they just say—"sacrifice"?

What kind of situation would require a country's military commander to sacrifice herself?

Combined with her earlier judgment, Cecilia's heart grew heavier.

It seemed this disaster was much more serious than she had previously thought.

Alexandra continued seriously:

"Then you must fully explain to her the difficulty of fighting the Undead Calamity, and be prepared for her to choose to leave."

Elashia also nodded solemnly.

"I understand."

Witnessing their conversation, Cecilia's heart grew even heavier.

It seemed her earlier guess was indeed correct.

A terrible disaster that would threaten all of humanity was about to descend.

Elashia turned to look at Cecilia and said in an extremely serious tone:

"Cecilia, you must remember every word I'm about to say. This will determine not only our lives but also the future of the Abyss Marsh continent."

Cecilia nodded.

"Simply put, an undead entity called the Undead King will descend upon this world in about ten years, and his subordinates will be resurrected within these two years."

"Their power far exceeds your imagination. Even if humans and other potential allies unite against them, it would be like a mayfly trying to shake a tree."

"The number of their armies far exceeds your imagination, with a conservative estimate of millions."

"And their individual combat power is incredibly strong. Perhaps a dark knight that can be easily mass-produced by the Undead King could fight you to a draw."

"Moreover, affected by the ripples of their resurrection, many anomalies and disasters have already appeared. Elasia has encountered a once-in-a-century large-scale drought, and the Holy Kingdom has become a land of the undead. Now only the Iron Empire, furthest from the northern border and with the strongest comprehensive power, hasn't suffered obvious disasters."

Seeing Cecilia's puzzled expression, Elashia stopped speaking and waited for her questions.

"But Your Majesty, if such powerful undead were sealed by humans countless years ago, why can't humans match them now?"

After hearing Cecilia's question, the Iron Empress seemed to have heard the funniest thing in the world. Her previously serious face instantly took on a hint of cruel amusement.

"Young lady, you think too highly of humans."

"What?"

Humans were the strongest race on the Abyss Marsh continent, with no close second. Could there really be something more powerful than humans?

Could it be deities?

Elashia said:

"Those who created and unsealed them were not human."

"Then what were they?"

Under Cecilia's incredulous gaze, Elashia and the Iron Empress said in unison:

"It was the Goddess."
