Chapter 23

Chapter 23

‘Whether You Return to Gotham or Not, I’ll Still Beat You’

Henry put on a mask and changed into an all-black outfit, complete with a cape. To ensure everyone recognized his identity, he even took a pen and wrote *‘Batman’* on his clothes.

Who in the world wouldn’t recognize him now?

He effortlessly lifted the Joker and demanded, “Tell me, who ordered you to do this?”

“Bro, I just wanted to kidnap Miss Sherisa! I never planned to kill anyone!”

The Joker was on the verge of tears.

Damn it, he thought. He had planned to make one last big score before retiring, then go home and get married. But now he was caught up in this mess.

He should’ve never gotten into this line of work.

“Are you that desperate for money? Couldn’t you just be a normal clown?”

Henry hated people who didn’t take their jobs seriously!

If it were some capitalist exploiting workers, fine—but kidnapping? That was where he drew the line!

At the mention of this, the Joker ‘wah’ burst into tears.

“Big Brother Batman, you don’t understand! I’m from Gotham Village, and I have a tsundere childhood sweetheart.”

“Every time I confessed to her, she’d blush and tell me to get lost, saying I was too poor for her. But she always accepted the gifts I gave her! Deep down, she’s always loved me!”

“For her sake, I left the village to work in the city.”

“But not long after I started, my boss said I entered the workplace with my right foot first instead of my left, so he docked my entire month’s salary! I worked a whole month for nothing!”

“When I returned to Gotham Village in disgrace, my childhood sweetheart told me she was marrying someone else.”

“I mustered my courage and confessed to her, but she rejected me!”

“I finally worked up the courage, and she made me lose so completely! Damn it!”

“That day, I watched her get into the carriage of a local rich kid. I saw her kissing that spoiled heir, and my heart shattered. But I know—she was always waiting for me!”

The Joker’s eyes brimmed with hope, as if his childhood sweetheart would surely be with him once he returned home.

Henry, however, noticed the Joker’s nose growing redder and redder, to the point where it was almost blinding.

He had assumed the Joker was just wearing makeup, but the guy was the real deal!

“I hate rich people! Their wealth is ill-gotten—what’s wrong with taking it from them?”

The Joker’s eyes burned with hatred for the wealthy, as if he wanted to rob every last coin from them.

“Listen, little brother, take my advice—that kind of woman isn’t worth it. Do you really think a girl who accepts your gifts but kisses another guy is a good person?”

Hearing Henry insult the love of his life, the Joker argued back fiercely, his fear completely gone.

“Bullshit! She’s different from other women! She only accepts my gifts, and she blushes when she sees me—isn’t that proof she likes me? It’s this corrupt society keeping us apart!”

Holy shit, this guy’s insane!

The fact that she only accepted his gifts probably meant he was the only one giving her anything. As for the blushing, it was likely out of anger.

As for his critique of society, Henry actually agreed—somewhat.

But that didn’t justify kidnapping!

“How can you be sure she’d stay with you even if you gave her money? What if she got pregnant? Could you still accept her?”

Henry asked the most cutting question.

The Joker’s eyes turned red. After a moment of stunned silence and an intense internal struggle, he finally made his decision.

“If she’s pregnant, I’ll let her have the baby—and I’ll be the father!”

Henry had just witnessed the birth of a true ‘cuckold simp’.

Even if she married someone else and had another man’s child, he still wanted to be with her at all costs.

Was this the ‘pure love cuckold simp’ of modern times?

It was so disgusting Henry almost vomited!

It was these kinds of idiots who polluted society, giving certain women the audacity to spout brain-cell-melting nonsense.

Uncle could tolerate it, but Auntie definitely couldn’t!

Henry took a deep breath and forced a serene smile.

“Go back to Gotham. Batman says he won’t hit you.”

Hearing this, the Joker’s face lit up with joy.

Had his words actually moved Henry? Was Henry also a man who had loved and lost?

“Big Brother Batman, I…”

“Just kidding. Whether you return to Gotham or not, I’ll still beat you.”

With that, Henry grabbed the Joker and beat him within an inch of his life!

Today, he would do society a favor.

After reducing the Joker to a half-dead pulp, Henry finally stopped.

Still, he considerately adjusted the Joker’s red nose back into place—after all, professionalism mattered. Soon, he’d be enjoying some prison food.

“Assassins!”

A deep voice roared from the private booth.

Henry whipped his head around to look.

Several figures were rushing into the booth—it seemed they were targeting Sherisa.

No way! Don’t lay a finger on my sugar mommy! If she gets hurt, how am I supposed to live the soft life?

Meanwhile, Sherisa was surrounded.

The attackers were well-prepared, their goal clearly to capture her.

Their bodies emitted an eerie red glow, and their eyes oozed black mist.

One of the suited bodyguards smashed a fist into an attacker, bending their body out of shape—but the attacker simply snapped their bones back into place, completely unharmed.

Sherisa frowned, her expression darkening.

“Puppet magic? Using corpses as puppets? Seems someone’s dead set on capturing me.”

“Miss, we’ll cover you—escape through the door!”

Faced with these unkillable human weapons, the bodyguards seemed helpless.

Though physically strong, they lacked the magical power to finish the puppets off.

The mages below could handle it, but they were pinned down by other assassins and couldn’t provide backup.

The enemy had come prepared.

But giving up wasn’t Sherisa’s style.

She wouldn’t have come here today if she didn’t have a trump card.

Her gaze locked onto the leader hiding behind the puppets, and she smirked coldly.

“Did you really think hiding like a rat would keep me from finding you?”

“Heh, you flatter me, Miss Sherisa. You noticed us the moment we entered the city—we’d never underestimate you. But we’ve cast a barrier spell over the entire circus. No one outside can interfere.”

“So you think I’m defenseless?”

“Against immortal puppets? I’d love to hear how you plan to beat them.”

The leader sounded supremely confident in his undead army.

Sherisa snorted, then took a deep breath and shouted at the top of her lungs—

“HENRY, SAVE ME!!!”

The moment the words left her lips, a flying sword *‘whoosh’* sliced through the puppets in a flash.

In the next second, every puppet’s head hit the floor.

The bodyguards stared in shock.

Meanwhile, Henry, the master of the flying sword, was clinging to the wall outside the window, climbing his way in.

“Your knight has arrived, Princess!”

Damn it, why can’t I fly on my sword yet?

Stupid system, do something!
