Chapter 41
Eerie
The carriage was traveling on the muddy road.
Light drizzle was falling from the sky, but compared to the heavy rain from before, they could still accept it.
Except for the people inside the carriage, everyone’s clothes were soaked.
The terrible weather also made quite a few soldiers feel irritated.
“What terrible luck, we’re almost at our destination, and it’s actually started to rain heavily!” Pierre was dissatisfied with this terrible weather, cursing in his mouth.
He just turned his head to look at the man across from him, that servant of the Noel Family. Ever since getting in the carriage, he had not spoken a word, not knowing what he was thinking about.
Pierre felt that the people of the Noel Family were all parasites of the Empire, and should have been cleared out long ago.
If it weren’t for the fact that the Noel Family controlled vast wealth, the Empire would absolutely not allow their existence.
However, the matriarch of the Noel Family was also a world-renowned Great Magician, so if the Empire wanted to move against the Noel Family, they would definitely need to find a suitable excuse.
For this reason, there was this current journey.
His Majesty the King had given orders to the Noel Family to prepare supplies and head to Caucasus Town.
The battle situation there was intense and required large amounts of supply replenishment.
However, these supplies would ultimately not be delivered to Caucasus City, but would be swapped out midway, finally becoming useless stones.
By that time, His Majesty the King would have an excuse to suppress the Noel Family.
All of this was within the plan.
Thinking of this, Pierre couldn’t help but curve his lips upward.
“Lord Pierre, there’s a village ahead, do we need to stop and rest?”
Outside the carriage, a soldier reported the situation.
Pierre opened the curtain and looked outside — it was the village from his memory.
Those supplies would be swapped here.
“Good, find an inn to stop at, we’ll rest for the night!”
Then, he looked at Battman across from him. Seeing that he was still resting with his eyes closed, he couldn’t help but kick him.
Just at the moment when he opened his eyes, Pierre suddenly felt a chill throughout his entire body.
As if he was being targeted by something, and would suddenly drop dead the next second.
But as an obsequious smile appeared on Battman’s face, that eerie feeling suddenly disappeared.
“Lord Pierre, what are your orders?”
“You go and establish relations with the innkeeper, have them clear out all the rooms for us to stay in. These expenses will all be borne by your Noel Family, understand?”
Pierre had a completely arrogant appearance, not treating Henry like a normal person at all.
And Henry nodded and bowed, looking exactly like a lackey.
This made Pierre look down on the Noel Family people even more.
But just as he was about to turn his head, suddenly a sword hilt without a blade flew in from outside the window, heavily hitting Pierre right on the forehead!
Pierre hadn’t had time to react before his eyes rolled back and he collapsed on the ground!
And seeing that Pierre had completely lost consciousness, Henry then kicked his fat body, subsequently taking a bag of heavy gold coins from him, and humming a little tune, got out of the carriage.

After Henry and the innkeeper had a brief “exchange,” the other party quickly cleared out all the rooms.
After all, Henry brought many gold coins, though they were enthusiastically sponsored by Pierre.
However, unexpectedly, the entire inn had no other guests, and there weren’t even many servants.
It was like an inn owned by his own family.
“Dong!!!”
A huge bell sound rang out not far away.
Looking out the window, he could see that in the center of the village there was actually a church!
When Henry entered the village, he had roughly observed — this village combined might not even have forty or fifty people, yet there was actually a church here.
It seemed the villagers here had very strong faith.
However, the villagers here were extremely enthusiastic, with simple folk customs. When they saw the army stationed here, they all brought quite a lot of food and water for the soldiers outside.
He didn’t know if it was because of the rain, but Henry noticed the villagers all seemed to have somewhat pale complexions.
They looked like they were wearing makeup and powder.
After the innkeeper heard the church bell, he immediately walked out from the front desk.
“Boss, what are you going to do?”
“Oh, every day at this time we need to go to the church to pray, this is a very sacred ritual for us.”
When mentioning prayer, the boss’s eyes were full of faith, without half a trace of impurity.
Although he couldn’t quite understand it, Henry expressed respect.
Just like this, Henry returned to his room.
The entire convoy was stationed in the village, with soldiers enjoying delicious food heartily in the restaurant.
Everyone seemed to have no sense of vigilance at all.
This kind of pleasant and cheerful situation seemed somewhat eerie in this environment.
After all, this transport of supplies was supposedly an urgent situation, yet Pierre showed a completely unhurried demeanor.
In Henry’s view, this was probably the Empire wanting to deliberately make the Noel Family step into a trap.
As for what to target, Henry roughly understood as well.
“My head hurts so much! Who ambushed me!”
Pierre in the adjacent room seemed to have woken up, shouting loudly, but no one responded to his voice.
All the soldiers were immersed in wine and meat.
“Where are the soldiers! Where did the soldiers go!”
He stretched his throat and shouted loudly, his expression somewhat angry!
He had been ambushed and no one even knew — this must have been done by that person from the Noel Family!
He angrily wanted to go out and find Battman to settle accounts.
But just as he opened the door, another sword hilt flew straight at his face.
His eyes rolled back and he lay on the ground very peacefully.
His sleep quality was comparable to that of a father caring for an infant.
Although Pierre was very annoying, for now he still needed to keep him around to do things, but he needed to severely discipline Pierre.
Make him think of the inexplicably appearing sword hilt whenever he saw him.
After Henry organized his things, he was just about to go out.
But unexpectedly, there was suddenly inexplicable knocking at the door outside.
“Who is it?”
Henry tentatively asked, but the person outside the door did not respond.
This made Henry instantly become alert.
He took up his sword and walked step by step toward the door.
He turned the handle and suddenly yanked the door open!
He saw a soldier in armor standing in front of him, and his face was wearing a mask, so his appearance couldn’t be seen clearly at all.
A sword blade was hovering above the door, and if the other party dared to take one step inside, that Flying Sword would definitely pierce through his body.
“Is there something you need from me?”
Henry looked at the person in front of him with a puzzled expression.
“Henry, hello there.”
A female voice came from behind the armor.
And hearing this familiar voice, Henry was also stunned.
He reached out and removed the other party’s helmet, and that familiar face appeared before Henry.
“Sherisa! How are you here?”
Henry hurriedly pulled Sherisa inside, and after observing that no one was outside, then closed the door.
Sherisa removed the heavy armor from her body, her whole body damp.
“Of course I’m here to solve problems together with you!”
