After being hospitalized for about half a month, I was brought home by Dominic instead of Joan's mansion.
"Why don't we go back to Joan's mansion?"
"You wouldn't want to see that person every day, would you?"
I heard Dominic say that and lowered my head. Although the police did not reveal the identity of the person who cut the chandelier, Dominic figured it out a long time ago. That's Kaylin. My father almost had to get on his knees begging Dominic, along with Aunt Juliet constantly persuading Dominic to temporarily forgive them. After all, they are my relatives, so he wanted to let me make my own decisions.
"So, do you want to forgive Kaylin or punish her?" Dominic took my hand and led me into the room. "You know, if you just want to, I can make her stay in prison forever."
"I..."
I hesitated, then sighed.
"I think I need to meet her and have a clear talk. At least once. If there's a need to punish her, I should be the one to do it."
Dominic seemed to understand that I wanted to deal with this myself, so he agreed not to get involved.
"Ah, right. There's one more thing I haven't told you."
"What's wrong?"
"We're going to have an engagement this weekend and make it public that you're my fiancée."
Dominic is such a busy person with work that there are days when he can't even spend 8 hours at home. But to prepare for our long engagement, he gave himself a week off.
He personally sent invitations to the relatives of Arnold and Joan, close friends of both, and some of the most famous newspapers. The engagement ceremony was held in a dignified church, thousands of bodyguards were deployed to guard all the entrances to ensure security and order.
The most famous chefs are invited to prepare breakfast for the guests, the decoration for the engagement ceremony is also made by famous designers. Every step in the preparation of the engagement was so well prepared by Dominic that I had nothing left to do.
Every night, he was busy answering the phone and managing everything related to the engagement ceremony himself. Seeing him like that, I lay on the bed and involuntarily smiled.
"You look like a real husband."
"I realized that having the perfect engagement was harder than running a company."
Dominic touched his beard that hadn't been shaved in days, then turned to look at me. I laughed hysterically, then went to the bathroom to get some shaving cream and shave, looking at him then pointing at his chin.
"Want me to help you?"
He nodded. So for the first time I had the experience of shaving a man. His beard is not long, but stiff and jagged from the chin down to the neck. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to slowly shave without scratching his skin.
"You did a good job, next time I'll have to ask you to shave again."
"It's just that I'm worried that you've been working so hard for our engagement these past few days that you forgot to shave, so I'll help you out. But I admit your shaving cream smells really good. I smelled it many times and thought it was your perfume."
"When did you smell it? Wasn't it the time when we kissed?"
Dominic deliberately teased me, he wrapped his arms around my waist, his hand still slid down to touch my butt and squeeze gently.
I wiped his face with a towel, not forgetting to glare at him pretending to be reproachful.
"It's so boring these days with nothing to do. Or do you need my help with our engagement?"
"Yes."
"What can I do to help?" I got excited.
He pulled my hand so that I sat on his lap, then he spoke slowly.
"You need to try on a wedding dress."
I feel like Dominic is more excited about me trying on wedding dresses than I am.
Early in the morning, he and I stopped by PP corporation. It seems that Ethan has something difficult to deal with and needs Dominic's decision. Things couldn't be resolved over the phone, so Dominic had to stop by the company on the day of his appointment to try on a wedding dress with me.
"I'll take care of everything quickly, wait for me in the office."
He took my hand and whispered softly. We entered the corporate lobby and took the director's private elevator. As I passed by the front desk, I saw that the receptionist was a newbie. I remember a long time ago, when I first came to your corporation, I was scolded very badly by a certain head of the department. She misunderstood that I was a stalker of Dominic, and at that time I was just his mistress, so I did not dare to explain anything.
Unexpectedly, Dominic at that time said I was his fiancée in front of everyone, then immediately fired the insolent female employee. Now that I think about it, time has passed so quickly, and I have long since ceased to be his secret lover. I myself am not sure how I ended up spending that day. But now all that doesn't matter anymore.
I no longer pursue ballet but temporarily take time to rest. I am no longer a lonely child without a family, but have returned to Joan's family. I've not been a mistress with Dominic for three months, but I've been a fiancee with him for almost a year. So much has changed, I have lost many valuable things but gained the things that I craved.
Now my only wish is to be with Dominic and live happily ever after.
I also realized that the eyes of the PP group employees looking at me seemed to have changed a lot. They were no longer curious and looked at me with cold eyes, but with polite bows instead. At Dominic's company, I see the discipline of everyone at work, which makes me admire Dominic and his leadership even more.
True to what he said, it didn't take him too long to solve the problems.
"Can't these things be resolved over the phone?" I asked Dominic curiously.
"If it could be worked out, Ethan wouldn't have called me. There were some documents that needed to be signed, and the partner wanted me to look at the contract they sent."
I nodded as if I understood. The world of business people is already so complicated, how the world of cross-border arms trafficking groups will be even more difficult to believe.
In the blink of an eye, we went to the bridal shop to try on wedding dresses. Designers were already waiting inside, they smiled and bowed in unison when we entered.
"Sir, at your request we have prepared 100 wedding dresses for Lady Esther Joan."
"Hundred...?" I was so shocked that I opened my mouth wide, turned to look at Dominic and then back at the designer.
"Yes, ma'am. It's a hundred different samples that have never been tried by anyone."
I don't feel this is really necessary, but Dominic is very stubborn about this. He wanted me to wear the best dress for our engagement. So, I had to devote all my energy to trying on a hundred wedding dresses.
