Chapter Normal family

*Omario POV*

Two weeks later, my parents and I having breakfast. It feels like we are a family for once in my entire life.

“This is nice. You two like this,”I say with a huge grin. I am twenty-two years old, I have seen too much of dad’s cruelty to be naive but I would still love yearn for a good, normal and loving family.

“You mean me not getting any?”dad sneers. I guess he does not feel the same.

“Get over it and no one is stopping you from getting a divorce!” mom snaps while glaring at him.

He complains about not sleeping around like it’s his basic human right and mom does not take his crap these days.

“You have mom,” I suggest. Surely this can’t be too bad considering they both spent half the morning in bed together.

“The sex is great but your mom is too weak! Her goodness and sympathy is too suffocating. Can you believe that she is on my case about handing Brenda to Blake? How weak can you get?” he sneers with a disgust written all over his face.

“Brenda is horrible and yes, I wanted her out of here, but you did not have to hand her over to Blake like a piece of meat!” mom snaps again, but I’m with dad on this one. Brenda made it her mission to rub her relationship with dad on her face, not to mention acting like she was the Luna around here.

Dad laughs. “You are really hot when you are mad.”

Mom shoots him a deadly stare. Okay, maybe we are far from a normal family, but I can say this is the longest period my dad has spent without cheating on my mom. I can’t help but hope this is the new norm.

“Gotten over your slave yet?” dad now turns tables on me.

I know that his friends have been whining about having no access to the servants for days now and I have no intentions of letting that happen.

I lift my head to look at him and back at my food.

“Oh! Come on! Still mad at me?”

“Abi was special,” I mumble and continue eating.

“She was thin as a skeleton, wolf-less and pitiful!”he exclaims.

“Lets just not talk about it.”

I have no intentions of discussing Abi in more detail with him lest I expose too much. He on the other side still believes that I am grieving her loss.

“You are becoming too emotional and weak like your mother.”

My dad is a real asshole!

“Theo,” mom warns and knocks him slightly with her elbow. They really do look like a real couple.

“What? It’s the truth. You can’t use a dildo to change that,” he responds defensively and just had to bring up the dildo.

What an asshole!

“Anyway, did I tell you that I asked Pious to look into your Gamma?”

My heart sinks. Pious is dad’s very thorough private investigator. I don’t know what he will find out about Terrence, but it can’t be good that dad is looking into him.

“Why are you looking into Terrence?” I ask carelessly.

“Even an idiot can tell that there is more to that slave. You’ve seen his wolf, his speed and I am yet to see anyone control over hundred horses on their own the way he does. He is definitely not a nobody.”

That has actually taking him very long to notice all this considering that Terrence has been here for years. I, of course can’t say this, I need to protect Terrence by all means.

“You killed all the heirs, remember?” I remind him of one of his massacres he is so proud off. Terrence having an Alpha blood was the first thing I suspected when I saw his wolf. It’s what anyone would think when they see it.

“Except your favourite slave, of course.”

He just has to bring Abi in everything.

“Terrence is just very good and talented,”I suggest and don’t bother responding to the Abi part.

He laughs and waves his hand at me dismissively. “Good does not give you a wolf like that. He is probably some Alpha’s bastard. I just need to know which.”

“You killed all those too,” I remind him. He did not only killed the heirs but all the blood relatives and anyone who could challenge his rule in the future. Abi, as far as we know, is the only one who remained because of the prophecy.

“I did,” he says proudly.

Evil bastard!

“But I could have missed something,” he adds.

This can’t be good. I really hope Terrence is not related to any one of the late Lilly town wolves Alphas.

“Or maybe he is just ordinary and gifted,”mom suggest.

I know that even she does now believe the word coming out of her own mouth but she knows the monster she married too well.

“You are too naive for a Luna.”

“Or maybe his dad is from somewhere else out of here,”I suggest.

“That eliminates him as a threat then,” mom shrugs her shoulders but I am now very curious to know Terrence’s pedigree. I want to know dads exact plan so I can protect Terrence but Brenda walks in and starts talking without greeting and there goes my almost normal family.

“Look, who I ran into,” she announces and Sophia slowly walks in behind her.

Mother curses under her breath. Sophia is her twenty-five year old, orphaned niece. Dad always threatens to kill her whenever he wants mom to do his will. Two months ago, mom had finally managed to send her away under the pretence that she was going to study abroad. With Sophia safe, mom was able to boldly stand up to dad about his infidelity. She was able to get Brenda out of the castle and change a lot of things around here.

“Soph?” I search her eyes. She and I used to be close, but not anymore. I can’t stand her manipulation and how much that costs my mother.

Mother will unfortunately, do anything for her late brother’s daughter. I doubt Sophia even appreciates it.

She avoids making eye contact with me and looks at mom with misty eyes. Master manipulator this cousin of mine.

“I am sorry, Aunty,” she mumbles and I can almost guess what happened.

Just like her father and our grandfather, Sophia has a drug and gambling addiction problem. She probably blew off all the money mom gave her to move abroad.

Dad on the other side is thrilled, he won’t stop laughing and praising Brenda for her good work. He right away informs her to move back into the castle and pronounces her as his mistress again.

“I don’t have to spell it you as to what happens to your druggie niece here if you so much as touch yourself,”he threatens and mom sighs and nods her head. Dad does not make empty threats, he will kill Sophia without a second thought.

He grabs moms jaw and glares at her. “I am going fuck Brenda now. If I get any pain, I swear she is dead, Nala and that’s on your head.”

My heart is already pounding, if I could I would tear this man apart for the pain he put my mom through and the suffering he had caused, but I can’t.

“Dad, do you have to do this? I mean, you were in so much pain. She will get that,” I try to reason with him but I sound like a hypocrite because my cover is just like him.

“Says someone fucking all the kingdom’s slaves. Focus on your mate and stay out of my business and no threatening my mistress,”he says before leaving us.

“I am so sorry, Aunty,”Sophia is now teary and all I want is to slap her really hard.

“Are you? What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you even know what you’re putting mom through?”

“Rio, don’t,” mom intervenes as usual. This is why Sophia is so reckless, irresponsible and selfish. Mom will alway forgive anything she does because she is an orphan and the only blood relative she still has.

I shake my head and leave them. If Sophia won’t leave this place willingly, I am going to have to make a plan because I am done seeing my mom in pain. I am sure I will come up with something but first thing on my agenda is to protect Terrence. I go to one person I know can give me the answers I need before Pious comes back to dad.

“You want to know what your Gamma is,” Rufus says the moment I walk into his house.

“Morning to you too, Rufus. I prefer who, not what.”

He smiles and motions me to take a seat. “Too human. Your strength and weakness.”

“How are you here midweek?”

I am curious because the word out there is that he only comes back on Fridays when he comes to read Abi’s soul.

“Your guess is right, Your Majesty.”

I laugh and shake my head at the realisation. “You stayed away to avoid reading Abi.”

“Until I was commanded to return every Friday,” he confirms my suspicions. “Now that she is not here, I can finally enjoy my own home,” he adds.

“I need to know what Pious is going to find.”I get to the point, this is urgent.

“Pious will find nothing. No one out there knows that Terrence exists.”

I sigh with relief but his statement carries so much more.

“You are still curious to know?”

I nod my head

“His speed, senses and abilities are a hundred times greater than the one of a wolf.”

“You are insinuating that he is not.”

“I am stating facts, Your Majesty.”

“But his wolf….,” I shake my head at my stupidity. It’s all legendary but I should have known. Terrence can only a Lycan…..That changes everything.
