*Abi POV*
Completely exhausted and drifting off to sleep, Colton insists on me sleeping on his sex masculine chest. He is so proud of himself he can’t stop grinning. Apparently, I was a difficult one to pin down. I’m probably number hundred in his list of conquests. Some might have an issue with that but that’s specifically why I chose him. I’m also happy to have benefited from his vast experience. It was all awkward at first but as soon at I dealt with my own beliefs, I enjoyed every round. The sex was absolutely amazing!
“We should do this more often,” he says, but I can’t make that promise. If the mate bond works as it should, this was enough to teach my stupid mate a lesson.
“Can I close my eyes and sleep now?”I ask instead. He chuckles and pulls me closer into his arms.
I honestly had no idea that sex can be so exhausting.
“Sweet dreams, Baby girl,” he says charmingly and plants a kiss on my forehead.
A few minutes later, I hear a knock and Terrence’s unmistakable voice calls from the outside.
“Abi, open the damn door!”
He sounds angry for an uninvited guest. I sit up and loud noises start coming from the door on the ground floor. What the hell? What is he even doing here?
I drag myself out of bed, wrap a towel around my naked body and rush out before my angry bestie breaks my door.
“Hey, what’s up?” Colton asks, sitting up on the bed. I shrug my shoulder and get downstairs the moment my door comes crashing down.
“Terrence! What the hell?”
I’m not surprised that he was able to kick my door like that but his reasons. He looks at me with blazing eyes while I am so confused. Frode said he was my mate but I’m certain that he is not. His reaction is really confusing me. Did he feel that instead of Omario? What witchcraft is this now?
“I should ask you what the fuck you are doing!” he yells at me before disappearing and showing up with Omario over his shoulders and matches past me.
Okay, that makes a bit sense but I still don’t know why he is mad at me.
“Normal people call before visiting and are much more civil,” I sneer and fold my arms over my chest.
“Shut up Abi! What happened to you?” Terrence yells again right when Colton shows up on the stairs with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist.
“What’s going on here?” Colton innocently asks, while curiously inspecting my guests. I don’t know if he can sense something odd. Omario is now on my couch, groaning in pain, but his chest starts rising fast and he clenches his fists the moment he sees him, while Terrence is mad as hell.
A part of me is quite amused, I now know why they are here unannounced. Omario must be feeling exactly what I have been feeling while he was in denial, but I can’t enjoy the moment because he drags himself off the couch towards Colton, who is completely unaware that he is now in danger. I can see Omario’s veins bulging on his neck. He is ready to attack.
Shit! I start panicking. This is not good!
He looks really bad but he still has the steel features. One punch from him could hurt Colton really badly. Not to mention if he actually shifts, that would be a disaster.
“The question is what the fuck are you doing with someone’s ma…” Terrence stops while I flinch. To most humans, we are just a myth and it’s better that way or we could find ourselves in their laboratories being studied like Guinea pigs.
“Someone’s wife?”Terrence quickly corrects himself.
That was close! But wait, he said I’m what now?
Colton turns to look at me, flabbergasted. “You are married?”
I am just as shocked by Terrence’s statement. Colton is also pretty dumb to actually believe that. He just broke my virginity, surely the two don’t go together.
“What? No! Absolutely not!”
I sound very defensive but this is all happening so fast.
“Then, what’s up?” Colton asks. So much for a stress-free, no questions asked fling!
I think on my feet and come up with a better explanation.
“These are my brothers. They are irritatingly protective, stupid and dangerous,” I say while picking up his clothes from the floor and giving them to him before leading him towards the door. The sooner I get him out of here, the better.
“They are really hot, my agency is looking for male models. Do you…”
“Bye Colton,” I shut the door on his face. Can’t he see that I’m trying to save his life here? Well, there’s also the part of him complementing the two idiots I’m now mad at.
“You are amazing Abigail, we should do this again sometime!” he shouts outside the door.
Omario’s nostrils flare up as he winces and I can’t help but laugh. Gotcha mate!
“What the fuck, Abi?” Terrence shouts and punches my wall.
I really don’t get his reaction and I won’t stand for it.
“I would appreciate it if you stop yelling or get the fuck out of my house!” I yell back. He is meant to be my bestie but here he is taking Omario’s side.
He sighs and shakes his head. My response has definitely taken him by surprise. A lot of people, especially those who knew me growing up, are going have to adjust to this side of me. I no longer take nonsense from anyone and I’m not afraid to stand and fight for myself.
“You use to respect the mate bond, what happened to you?”
At least he is no longer yelling.
“I did, until my mate repeatedly denied our bond. Until he started fucking his fiancée and I spent more days in hospital than at home. Until he didn’t care about the pain he put me through. What did you expect me to do, Terrence?”I’m the one yelling now while Omario can’t even look at me in the eyes. The bastard!
Terrence swallows his saliva and curses under his breath. “Still, you should have…”
“Just shut up, Terrence!” I yell to cut him short. I don’t want to hear how he thinks I should have handled things when I did my best to reason with Omario.
Omario, on the other side, throws himself at me and starts apologising.
“I am terribly sorry, Abi. No more hurting each other, please. I will never touch another woman for as long as I live. I swear on my stupid, flushed-down-the-toilet dad.”
I stand there, shocked and still processing his reaction when he gasps and shifts into Titan.
I get on my knees, ready to embrace Titan, but something is completely wrong…..
