*Abi POV*
I wake up to a familiar sight of my mate looking lovingly at me.
“Abigail.”
“Mmh?”
“I am sorry.”
“For what?”
“For Oli, for all the stupid things I did, for hurting you.”
“Okay.”
We spoke about this already and I have forgiven him but I don’t think he believes me.
“Really? You are not just saying that because I’m not Titan?”
“You are Titan and he is you.”
“You are more comfortable with him and I don’t blame you. I don’t want to change that at all, but I want to account for my mess-ups. I want you to be comfortable with me too. I don’t want to have to shift to Titan for me to get to hear what’s bothering you.”
I can hear desperation in his voice and it makes me feel guilty.
“I am working on it.”
He smiles before I find myself pinned under his sexy body.
“Come here.”
“No! We can’t spend the whole week in bed. The people want to see us and we have to oversee the ceremony arrangements.”
“Oh! Come on. It’s only been five days and besides, Mom and Terrence are doing a great job with the planing,” he says while pinning my arms above my head and kissing my neck really hard.
“Omario!”
He knows that I can’t resist him, especially when he does that, but I made up my mind that we can’t stay in bed today. The elders have set a date for our official ceremony as Alpha and Luna and it’s tomorrow. I think I’m winning when he lets go of my neck, but his piercing brown eyes lock with mine.
“Babe,” his husky voice is enough to send my resolve down the drain.
“Just once and we go,” I concede, giving in to the desire he has lite up within me.
“That’s my girl,” he murmurs with a huge grin on his face and tries to kiss my lips but I avoid his lips.
“Omario?”
I need him to acknowledge my condition before we get lost in each other, otherwise we will be back here again in two hours time.
“Fine, I promise. Can I make love to my woman now?”
Two hours later…
Omario drags his feet behind me, sulking. “Do we really have to go?”
“Yes, our ceremony is tomorrow. We have to make sure that everything is as we want it to be,”I say firmly and he rolls his eyes at me.
“Fine.”
“Stop sulking. We have the whole night and the night after that for the rest of our lives.”
“Who said I only want to have my mate at night?”
I have no words for his question, nor do I want to entertain it now.
“Let’s just go,” I say firmly and drag him behind me.
The castle looks and feels different. There no servants slaving on every corner. Theres not dark shadow and that aura of fear that use to be there before. The long concrete corridor I spent years scrubbing is now beautifully tiled with homely flowers on every corner. Everyone we pass looks genuinely happy. I am yet to get used to everyone bowing when I pass by.
“You are smiling,” Omario says inquisitively.
“I never thought I would ever say this, but this place feels like home.”
“Home is wherever your man is, Abigail.”
I roll my eyes at himbefore walking into the main lounge, where we find Luna Nala and Terrence sitting on table in deep discussion. Luna Nala exclaims the moment she sees us.
“Hallelujah! They are finally out of the love nest!”
I giggle before kissing her cheek. “Good afternoon to you too, Mother Luna. Blame your son for everything.”
“Hey! You loved every minute of it. I’d be very worried if there’s no pub in that slim sexy oven already,” Omario responds mischievously.
“Omario!”
I can’t believe that he said that in front of his mother.
He bursts out in laughter before kissing his mother and cutting in front of me to hug Terrence.
“Excuse me! I’m the best friend. Can I have a hug?”
“You left a vacancy when you escaped. That position is taken, my love. You are gonna have to settle for just friend,” Omario teases but I can’t help thinking that there’s a lot of truth in that.
“No ways!”
“Yes ways.”
I turn to look at Terrence. Him and Omario are obviously very close now, but he is or should be my best friend.
“Terrence?”
“Calm down people. I have enough love for both of you,” Terrence says carelessly but I don’t buy it.
“Liar! You were so angry with me the day you two showed up in my place, yet you let him almost marry Olivia,” I accuse. The more I think about it, the more I am convinced that his loyalty is now with Omario. This shouldn’t bother me but somehow it does.
“Babe,” Omario calls me softly.
“I know that you’re sorry and I forgive you, but I don’t forgive him for not being my best friend. I should find myself a new bestie.”
I’m sulking and maybe a bit unreasonable, but I can’t help it.
Terrence looks at me like I’m crazy. “Wow! You forgive him and you are angry with me?”
“Yes! You were supposed to have my back and more loyal to me that him.”
“Actually…..” Omario responds before Terrence could.
“Yes?”
Omario wraps his arms around me, kiss my forehead and make a cute puppy face. I immediately know that I won’t like whatever he is going to say.
“Will you be mad if I tell you that he tried speaking some sense into me but I didn’t listen even when he called me very colourful names? And you were there when he punched me,” Omario completely absolve Terrence of any fault. I also can’t be mad at him for not listening to reason because he’s already made puppy eyes at me.
“I am not just your best friend, Abigail. I’m damn good at it and I deserve a medal,” Terence says confidently.
Both Luna Nala and I rolls our eyes at him. This is so Terrence, modesty does not exist in his world.
“I could have been a prophet, a warrior and even an advisor to that sorry ass of a man who was the Alpha, but I remained a lowly slave for you. You should appreciate me more, Abigail.”
Luna Nala is in stitches by the time my bestie completes his speech. The sorry ass of a man was her mate and Omario’s father, but none of them will ever defend him.
“Cocky, but you really do deserve a medal for sticking with me. Sorry, I doubted you.”
“And I don’t deserve to be working with your slave driver Beta, who won’t let me rest,” Terrence continues.
“Such a cry baby!” Luna Nala hits back and for a moment I’m sensing a vibe between my Betas again.
“I am a man, Beta-Mother-Luna Nala. I don’t care if the overlays are red, blue or pink. I don’t give a damn if there is three or four course meals as long as people eat,” Terrence says and I can’t help noticing that he interacts with Luna Nala as an equal while Omario and I treat her as a mother.
“Beta? I thought you would be Mother Luna?” Omario asks, letting go of me and looking at his mother, dumbfounded. I completely forgot to tell him about this.
“I am both,” Luna Nala responds proudly. I have never seen her this confident and happy for as long as I’ve known her.
Omario turns to look at me.
“But, I already appointed Floyd as my Beta. You all know this.”
“That was before you handed over the kingdom to me. I pointed these two.”
“Things changed. You wanted me to be the Alpha,” Omario accuses.
“That doesn’t mean Floyd should be the Beta.”
“It does if I’m the Alpha,” Omario drops a bomb on me. I look at him, shocked.
“He doesn’t even like me. I can’t have people who will stab me at the back the moment they get a chance.”
I really don’t like his best friend. Floyd has never said anything to me but his actions when we crossed paths spoke louder than his words.
“Floyd is not like that.”
“He is loyal to your ex. He joined your dad’s hunt,” I remind him.
“Him, I and Olivia have been friends for years but that doesn’t mean he will do anything to you. Joining the hunt was just an oversight and stupid on his part and he knows that,” Omario continues to defend his best friend but I’ve made up my mind about him.
“I don’t want him.”
“Then, I can’t be sworn in as the Alpha.”
I look at Omario in disbelief.
“You will choose him over me?”
“I gave him my word, Abigail. I keep my word, that’s very important to me.”
“Mmph! Then why don’t you go ahead and make Olivia your Luna? You also gave her your word, didn’t you?” I huff before storming out.
“Abigail.”
I don’t bother looking back when he calls.
“Leave me alone!”
I can’t believe that he would choose his friend over me.
I’m pacing back and forth on the balcony, fuming with my heart pounding when Omario shows up and stands behind me.
“You want Titan?”
“No, you idiot! I’m angry with you, not Titan!”
He actually chuckles. I can’t believe this man!
“You are really hot when you’re mad and impossible,” he says, before wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing my neck.
“Don’t seduce me into agreeing with you. I don’t like your best friend.”
He ignores me and presses himself against my butt.
“Mom doesn’t mind only being Mother Luna.”
“No!”
“Abigail.”
“You want your friend and I want Terrence and your mom. We will have three Betas then.”
“That’s never happened before.”
“I am completely aware and I don’t care.”
“Consider it done. Can we go to bed now?” His voice is now deeper and I can feel his erect manhood against me. I literally jump off his grip before my treacherous body betrays me.
“No! Can’t you see how much work there still is? It’s not fair to let those two do everything. Your Beta better get here and get his hands dirty too.”
“Fine, I will get Floyd to come over.”
“Do that and maybe we will retire to bed early.”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
