" Dear brother! Thanks for coming!", Leonardo chirped in, welcoming us as he took a sip from his fresh wine. His one hand wrapped around Jenny casually who definitely gave us an artificial smile. I could feel Lorenzo, stiffening right next to me. I gave him a calm down look which he followed thankfully. He responded back with a smile, surprising Leonardo who probably expected him to get back,
" Likewise. Congratulations to you guys! "
Leonardo seemed off-guard by Lorenzo's polite response. My chest puffed up in pride to think that my man had finally started to grow up. I didn't want anymore new scandals today. Jenny greeted me with a smile as if she had done nothing to me,
" How is your store doing, Valentina? I had to shut down my store because of my pregnancy. My father-in-law didn't want me to work in this situation."
I really wanted to roll my eyes at her hard. It was almost known by everyone how Mr.King had taken back all the property from them because of her attempt to spike me in the bar. Yet, she shamelessly boasted herself in front of us.
Did this girl have no shame?
I wasn't ready to let go of it this time. Returning a big smile, I replied sweetly,
" Right!! It's going well now. However, Mr.King thinks that I have a great stamina and I can still continue working in the store. He knows how capable I am."
Her face sank over my thoughts. Not always, I would allow her to lower down my status. Even Lorenzo gave me a look of appreciation until we both heard Mr.King's voice,
" There you are guys! Your aunt was looking for you guys everywhere!"
Mr.King led a woman in front of us. She was middle aged with slightly gray hair. However, the vibe that she emitted was pretty cool. Lorenzo gave a big smile, forwarding to hugging the old lady,
" Aunt Kathy! When did you come? Valentina, this is my father's sister, Aunt Kathy."
I greeted the lady with a smile, wondering why Nana didn't appear yet,
" Hello Aunt Kathy!"
She gave me her brightest smile and came over to give a big hug,
" Hello Darling! I have always wanted to meet you."
It made me warm in my heart. At least, one person from Lorenzo's family liked me. However, I could tell that the lady wasn't interested in Jenny or Leonardo who stayed there awkwardly. I heard Leonardo asking Aunt Kathy a bit suspiciously,
" Aunt, why isn't Nana with you?"
Aunt Kathy let out an audible sigh and replied with a shrug,
" She said that she isn't in the mood to party. What can I say? You know how stubborn she is."
It made me wonder whether I was the reason behind her disappear. Leaning onto Lorenzo, I asked him worriedly,
" Why didn't Nana come, Lorenzo? Doesn't she like Leonardo?"
Lorenzo's face hardened in anger. I could tell that he knew the exact reason. Letting out a helpless sigh, he murmured lowly,
" She said that she will come only if I leave you."
