Chapter Epilogue

Cassidy’s POV

Snowflakes danced through the frigid air, the world around me becoming a beautiful paradise of white. Again.

Instinct and adrenaline fueled my every move as I transformed, my body morphing into delicate crystalline forms.

It feels so good to be back, to feel the excitement of shifting into my wolf form.

The rival Rogue lunged, teeth bared. But in that pivotal moment, my body dispersed into a whirlwind of snowflakes. I felt a surreal rush as I swirled around him, avoiding his deadly jaws by the narrowest of margins.

There was an odd sensation, like a shiver down my spine, as if the transformation itself was more than just a physical change. But my focus remained unwavering. As the snowflakes began to reform, I solidified just behind the Rogue, my werewolf instincts guiding my swift and precise strike. Fangs sank into his flank, and he yelped in pain and surprise.

The scent of iron filled the air as I tore myself away, leaving the Rogue injured but not fatally so.

My grandmother's voice echoed in my mind, a whisper of wisdom that had been passed down through generations. 'Control your elements, child. Use them to protect, not just to attack.'

I could feel her presence, her spirit, mingling with mine as I shifted back into my human form.

I transcend from the stairs of the hut towards the opened door. There, I saw Zarion, standing and brooding as always. He was shocked to see me. I couldn't describe the way his expression changed from shocked into joyful bliss.

He cursed and walk towards me slowly, his hand reaching my face to touch my cheek. “You're... alive.”

“Hey...” I whispered back and nodded at him. “Yeah.”

My heart leaped in gratitude as my grandmother's ethereal voice joined Zarion's in my thoughts. “We are bound by more than blood, Alpha. We are also bound by the strength of our pack.”

‘Fuck, you're alive...” Alpha Zarion inhaled and pulled me into a warm embrace that touched my heart and soul. I was crying on his chest the whole damn time, while my Mamita was laughing beside us.

But I also saw the glint of happiness in her eyes, pure and unfeigned.

When we turned around, I saw her nodding at us. “It was a good choice to make. I didn't regret doing it at all.”

Zarion bobbed his head at her and looked at me. “I'm never going to let you leave me again. Not this time, not now, not ever.”

I only give him a reassuring smile. A smile of promise, a vow reflected on my lips.

The three of us arrived at the Volatile Hounds Pack, a mixture of tents and makeshift structures nestled in a clearing. Smoke spiraled up from the central fire, carrying with it the scent of roasted meat.

My grandmother and I had shared countless conversations around that fire, her stories of our ancestors etching themselves into my memory.

But I’m a werewolf now. And I never inherited my Grandmama’s gifts. But despite all of that, I am very much grateful.

As Zarion and I approached, I could see Bridgette sitting beside my grandmother, her white fur illuminated by the flames. The corners of her eyes crinkled as she smiled, a smile that held love and understanding.

Without a word, I moved into her embrace, feeling the warmth of her presence surround me. Her touch was like a balm to my soul, soothing the wounds of battle that weren't just physical.

Alpha Zarion's deep chuckle resonated through the air. “It's good to see you both unharmed,” Bridgette praised.

As I pulled away from Bridgette’s embrace, I hugged my Mamita next. The bond between us was strong, forged not just by the obligations of pack hierarchy, but by the mutual respect and affection we held for each other.

“We fought as one,” I beamed at each of them, my voice carrying the weight of our shared victory. Zarion's gaze softened, his eyes reflecting the depth of his feelings. “You make us proud, Cassidy. You will always be a formidable Luna.”

With those words, the tension that had settled in my shoulders began to dissipate. The war had been brutal, yes. A test of our strength and unity.

But now…now we stood together, triumphant. Victorious.

Walking back to the heart of our camp, I couldn't help but notice the joyful faces around us.

Young children tumbled and played, their energy contagious. And as the pups, babies born during their parents on their wolf forms, caught sight of me, their Luna, their tails wagged furiously, tongues lolling in canine grins. Their excitement was palpable, their loyalty unwavering.

I crouched down, allowing the pups to swarm around me, nuzzling and licking in affectionate frenzy. Their innocence and exuberance were a bright contrast to the violence of battle, a reminder of why we fought so fiercely—to give a better future to our young ones.

My grandmother and Zarion joined me. And for a moment, we were a family. All of us. Whole and unbroken. The pack's future was secure, our bonds stronger than ever.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the sky in shades of orange and pink, I looked around at the faces I loved. In the midst of war, I had felt something deep within me shift and transform, much like my own elemental abilities.

It was a realization that, even in the face of battle, we were more than just individuals: we were a pack. And together, there was nothing we couldn't overcome.

With every step I took, the weight of the world seemed to lift from my shoulders, leaving behind only the sheer relief of being home. The air was thick with the scent of pine, a familiar and comforting aroma that whispered of safety and belonging.

Zarion's hand was firm but gentle as it rested against my back, guiding me through the crowd of our pack members. The jubilant celebrations had started as soon as we had returned, a banquet laid out in honor of our victory and my safe return from the threshold of death.

My heart’s singing a joyous song as I looked around, seeing familiar faces marked by happiness and relief. My hand was clasped in Zarion's, his touch grounding me in the moment. His eyes, usually so commanding, held a softness that was reserved for moments like these.

As we stepped through the foyer of our room, the chatter and laughter of the feast faded behind us, leaving us in a whole new universe of our own.

“You're finally in my arms again,” Zarion whispered, his voice a caress that sent shivers down my spine. The door closed behind us, shutting out the world and enveloping us in a cocoon of intimacy.

Turning to face him, I felt my lips curl into a smile. “It's good to be back in your arms too.”

His fingers brushed against my cheek, his touch tender and filled with a yearning that mirrored my own. “I've missed you, Cassidy. So, so much…”

The truth in his words resonated deep within me. The separation during the war had been excruciating, every day a reminder of the bond we shared. But now, finally, I was here with him, and the intensity of that connection hummed in the air between us.

Zarion's gaze roamed over me, his eyes drinking in every detail as if to reassure himself that I was truly here, not just a phantom of his imagination. My armor and weapons had been shed, revealing the vulnerability beneath. Yet, his eyes held no trace of pity or sorrow—only a love that ignited an everlasting fire within me.

He reached for me, his arms wrapping around me in a warm embrace. The scent of him, a mixture of earth and pine, filled my senses. I buried my face in the crook of his neck. It was a place I had come to know well, a sanctuary of safety and love.

As his arms tightened around me, I let out a contented sigh, the tension that had gripped me for so long slowly melting away. “I missed you too,” I murmured against his skin.

Zarion's fingers trailed along my spine, leaving a trail of heat in their wake. “Tonight is about celebrating your strength, your bravery,” he declared with a voice of huskiness and raw emotions. “But also, it's about celebrating us.”

I looked up at him, my heart nearly skipping a beat as I met his gaze. There was intensity there, a promise of something deeper than words could convey.

This man, the Alpha of Volatile Hounds Pack, was the love of my life. My husband. My Mate.

We had faced challenges together, and our bond had only grown stronger.

His lips descended on mine, a gentle press that ignited a flame that had never truly dimmed. It was a kiss filled with longing, with the knowledge that life was precious and fleeting. As our lips moved together, I felt his love surround me, wrapping around my heart and soul.

When the kiss finally ended, I rested my forehead against his, our breaths mingling in the intimate space between us. “I love you, Zarion,” I beamed at him, the words carrying the weight of a lifetime's worth of emotion.

He smiled, a genuine expression that reached his eyes. “And I love you too, Cassidy.”

As we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, the sounds of the celebration outside seemed to fade into the background.

But in this moment, there was only us, only our love—a love that had weathered storms and battles, and emerged stronger than ever before.

My mate, who once desired to kill his mate, is now pouring his eternal love for me…until death do us part.
