CHAPTER 34. SAD
HARA
Ever heard of 'movie mornings', the same way there are 'movie nights'?
You wake up and choose to spend the morning hours watching movies.
Yeah, never heard of it too, not until Jason filled me in. For the past two days, it's been my favorite thing to do. With the incessant rain and stronger winds, we were taking an indefinite break from working at the bar.
I thought I was gonna die of boredom from staying here, with absolutely nothing to do. But he visited every day, and I was freed of my loneliness.
A week might be a short time to really know someone, but I felt like I knew him well enough. With his unique personality, It was intriguing associating with him. Intriguing and comfortable. He had this aura about him that just kept you at peace. Makes you feel at home.
The loud munching sound from him was a sign of his irritation and a mixture of other emotions I didn't bother sorting out.
I chuckled, sniffing back the tears that streamed down my eyes. My gaze was fixed on the screen of his laptop, and no matter how hard he chewed his popcorn and how much he tried to be a nuisance, I wasn't letting him take my attention away from the movie. Not when it was at its closing scene.
He threw some popcorn to the screen, thrashing his leg on my bed. We were both seated on my bed. Still, I was determined to get through it. And a few seconds later, the movie ended.
“Awwnn, that was so heart-wrenching,“ I sobbed, wiping my tears with the back of my palms. “I can't believe I waited this long to watch this.“
'Titanic', the famous tragic romance movie. Back at my pack, Roland and I had planned to go see the movie this one time but we never went. He'd gone into one of those his psycho moods and had tied me up in the bathroom, fucking me all night.
The tickets were used to wipe my squirts. That was how hopeless Roland had been a lot of times.
“I still think it's a stupid movie. He risked everything, and for what? To die at the end? Makes no sense,“ Jason scoffed, pushing aside the bowl of popcorn.
“Don't be so bitter,“ I chuckled at his display of anger, “It's just a movie,“
“For you, it is. But for me, it's more than that. You see, romantic movies make love seem easy. But in reality, it's far from that. The sacrifices you make, the pains you go through, the compromises you make. It sucks if you still lose at the end,“
“You're being too serious right now. It's just a movie,“ I reminded him, getting slightly uncomfortable by how upset he was.
“I'm sorry,“ he chuckled humorlessly, dipping his hands into the popcorn bowl and taking a handful into his mouth. He munched it in silence, and then quietly added, “I just don't think it's fair to him to lose his life after fighting hard for her,“
“Losing his life doesn't mean his sacrifices were a waste. He remained imprinted in her heart all her life. I'm sure he would give up his life over and over again if it meant being in her heart forever,“ For someone who had her love life forged from rocks and endured endless abuse, I still managed to see the positivity in love, even though all I got from mine were pains and agony.
“Then that makes him a sick bastard,“ He scoffed. “Call me crazy, but I'm never making sacrifices in love again. No compromises at all. Either you take me as I am, or I don't fuck with you. And if we have to fight to be together, I wanna be fought for. It's tiring always being the one who fights.“
Even without being vivid, I read the message loud and clear. He was fighting hard to sound casual, but the emotions in his words were as clear as crystal.
“You wanna tell me about her?“ I asked calmly. He shot me a startled look with creased brows. “The girl you fought for, you wanna tell me about her?“
He hesitated and heaved, “Her name's Evelyn. She was my first love. And for her, I was willing to risk everything. I thought she was too. We had a clandestine relationship as she didn't wanna ruin her family's reputation. I was cool with that, not until I realized how badly I've been played,“
“What happened?“
“She got married to some Alpha. Her family needed some financial backing so they married her off.“
“Was it a mate thing?“
“Not sure,“
“I'm sorry…“
“Nah, it's cool. I wasn't hurt by that. I was just hurt when I realized she wanted the marriage. Her love for money and fame outdid whatever crumbs of love she had for me. She flaunted him around like some trophy, but she'd hid me in the closet like some piece of rags.“
“I'm really sorry about that,“
“You remember the girl in the news? The self-proclaimed fiancèe of the Alpha Prince?“
“Yeah, Ciara,“ The name had been etched in my mind since I watched the news.
“She was Evelyn's step-sister. And she'd been the mastermind behind Evelyn's marriage with that Alpha,“
“What pack Is the Alpha from?“
“Silver Pack,“
“The one that gets easily infiltrated by rogues?!“ I gasped as he nodded. Everyone knew Silver pack for their strange bond with rogues. If the rogues wanna raid a pack, it's always Silver pack. The reason was still a mystery.
“I dread Ciara a lot, but deep down, I hate her as much too. She ruined my life. I'll never forget that.“ he finalized and stood to his feet. He grabbed his coat, keys, and phone. “You can keep the laptop, just until you don't need it anymore,“
“You're leaving?“
“Yeah. I got an errand to run,“
“For your boss who called a while ago?“ I asked, feeling uneasy again. He'd stepped out for a while and when the phone rang, I wasn't sure how to operate it so I mistakenly took the call. The deep, husky voice that came from the line still stirred up my insides in a way that sent wetness to my pussy. Also, the fact that the voice seemed so familiar.
He nodded. “Take care, Suzy.“ He said and kissed my cheek. I was taken aback by his action. He gave me a long, deep stare before leaving my apartment.
