Louisa's p.o.v;
While I was looking for information about the drug G-25, Eduardo came to my desk and looked at my screen asking, "Did you start with the work already?"
"Yeah." I answered while looking at the screen.
"Can I sit?"
After I nodded, he took a seat beside me and asked, "Didn't Gabriel say it's a new drug? How will you find it on the internet?"
"I'm not looking for the G-25. I'm searching for the recent news on drugs. If there is any news like new drug cases or unknown substance cases filed already in some station. We can inquire about them and find out if we're looking for the same drug. If it was the same drug, the search will widen and we'll get many new leads for the drug."
He nodded while saying, "Not bad."
"Didn't you go to the harbour ports Gabriel mentioned?"
"I have to." And continued looking at my screen.
I turned the screen away from him and said, "I don't like when someone watches me while I'm working."
He gave a smile and said, "Who said I'm looking at you? I was watching your screen for your information." And stood up from the chair.
When I was about to feel relieved, he said, "Will you accompany me to the port?"
"Why should I?"
"It would be better if it's two people than one."
"I'll try."
"Okay, I'll message you the time." And he left.
Eduardo is five years older than me but acts like a kid.
After he left, I continued looking at the cases of the new drugs in the market of Sao Paulo.
At 8 pm,
Gabriel, "What are you still doing here?"
I showed him the printouts of the recent news about new drugs and asked, "There's a lot of them. What do you think?"
"It has to be among this one."
While he was looking at the news articles I collected, he got a call and walked away.
When I got ready to leave work, Raphael asked, "I thought you already left. Why are you still here?"
"I collected some information about the case."
"I didn't know you were this desperate to escape from his team." And made fun of me.
"Okay, I'm leaving. When will you get off?"
"It'll take time. I still have work to finish."
"Okay, see ya tomorrow."
While I was leaving, Gabriel rushed me to say, "I got some information from an officer. He said he saw some suspicious people in the grand hotel. Can you have a look at it before you leave?"
"Yes, Sir. I'll do it."
After some time, I went to a grand hotel. The security guard didn't stop me since I was in my uniform. I showed my ID at the entrance and walked into the grand hotel.
The place was vibrant with bright colours. It was filled with elite people.
A guy in hotel's uniform approached me. When I looked at his coat, there was a badge pinned to it with the name, Fernando. He asked me, "I'm Fernando, manager of a grand hotel. What can I help you with, officer?"
"I got information that there are some illegal activities taking place here. Can I have a look at your surveillance camera?"
"For that i have to ask permission from the grand hotel possessor. Can you wait here for some time?"
After I gave a nod, he went inside.
The people who were walking past me looked at me like they're seeing an alien. Haven't they seen a girl before? While I was waiting for the manager, I saw someone familiar walking across the hall.
I entered the hotel and sneaked behind the person to see his face. But he was blinded by another person who was talking with him.
They two walked into some huge diner hall and took a seat at one of the tables. I walked around to see the guy's face. My jaw dropped when I saw his face. Ace? I mean, Salvador Ribeiro? What is he doing here? I heard he went back to Ottawa. Did he return from Ottawa? When did he come? Who is he talking to? I had never seen this guy before. What are they talking about?
While my mind was filling up with many questions, someone tapped on my shoulder from behind. When I turned to take a look, it's the manager. He asked, "The possessor has given permission for the surveillance camera. Now, you have access to it."
I nodded and said, "Where's the maintenance room?"
He pointed a way and said the direction, "On the left."
Let's finish this up quickly!
I walked to the maintenance room and checked the camera. After looking at it for ten minutes, I didn't suspect any unusual activity so I walked out of the maintenance room before saying, "It's clear. Sorry for the disturbance. You can go back to your work."
After walking out of the maintenance room, I came to the dining hall where I saw Ace talking with someone. When I came to the dining room, they were still talking. I never saw him taking time to talk with someone. I wonder what they are talking about.
I saw them leaving the dining hall. I followed them behind and ended up in the wrong place. It was a dead end. Where did they go?
"What are you following me, officer?"
I heard Ace's voice from behind me. Is he standing behind me? Did he see me while I was following me? If he did, why did he call me an officer?
I turned around and looked at him and said, "Ace…"
His expression changed from cool to being surprised, "Louisa, is it really you?"
"Yeah, I thought you would forget my name."
He ran to me and gave me a tight hug which I missed for a long time. When i tried to hug him back, No! He disappeared without even telling me a word. Don't fall for it!
I broke the hug and said, "If anyone sees me hugging someone while I'm working, it'll be a problem for me."
"What is this costume? Why are you wearing this?"
Did he just say costume? He's making me more mad.
"It's not a costume. These are my work clothes. I'm a cop."
"What? How? I don't get it. Why did you become a cop out of all the jobs out there?"
"Because it's fun to be a cop. Why am I even answering you? Don't stand in my way."
When i tried to leave, he held my hand and asked, "You won't talk to me?"
"Why should I? I'm not the one who disappeared? I'm not the one who made others cry in pain. Let go of my hand."
He pulled me into a hug and said while being in the embrace, "I'm sorry, Louisa."
"Apology can't make my anger go away."
"What about a kiss then?"
I broke the hug and asked, "You disappeared for almost four years. Didn't I come to your mind in all these four years of time? How can you speak like we just parted yesterday? Do you even know that I was searching for you?"
"I had my reasons."
"I'm not here to hear your reasons. I came for an inspection. My work is done. I'm leaving."
"Then why did you follow me if you came to do only your work? Is the following one of your works?"
When i tried to leave, he hugged me from behind and placed his chin on my shoulders whispering to my ears, "I missed you, Louisa."
I broke the hug and said, "Can't you see there's a camera at every corner? Moreover, I'm still in my uniform. If someone sees me, I'll be in trouble. So, I'm leaving."
He pulled me towards him saying, "Then shall I get you out of this uniform?" While he was asking, he unbuttoned the collar and asked, "Didn't you miss me, Louisa?"
I pushed him away and said, "You've gone crazy!"
I walked out of the apartment and waited for a can to get to my place. While I was waiting, a car stopped in front of me and when the window was brought down, Ace was inside it.
Ace, "Get in. I'll drop you, officer."
"I called a cab. It is on the way. You can leave."
He got out of the car and asked, "Do you want everyone to witness a police officer getting kissed by a handsome guy in front of the grand hotel. I bet it'll be on tomorrow's news."
I let out a sigh and got into his car.
After I got in, he asked, "Where to, officer?"
"I changed my place. It's on Lane Avenue."
He nodded and started his car.
"Since I'm coming with you, it doesn't mean i forget everything. I'm still mad at you. Remember that."
"Why did you become a cop?"
"What?"
"Didn't you want a desk job all your life? Why did you change your dream?"
"Didn't you hear me before? Because it was fun. Other jobs kinda bore me."
"Is it because I asked you to take it?"
There was a sudden silence in the air.
After that he didn't ask me anything, I didn't talk to him.
When my place came, I got out of the car and thanked him for taking me home.
Ace got out of the house and looked at my place and asked, "Is it like an individual house?"
"Yes."
"No roommates?"
"It's only me."
While I was walking to the house, he shouted, "Aren't you going to invite me in?"
I ran to him and asked, "Why are you shouting? This is a friendly neighbourhood. Most of them who live here are elderly people and married couples. You shouldn't shout like that in the middle of the night."
"Then invite me in."
I let out a sigh and said, "I can't believe I'm doing this. Come in."
While I was opening the door, he gave me a back hug and whispered into my ears, "Why are you taking so long?"
I pushed him away and entered the house.
When he entered the house, I asked, "Are you happy that you're inside my house? Now, leave."
After he came inside, he closed the door behind him.
"What are you doing? Why are you closing the…"
Before I finished, he pressed his lips against mine and started kissing me.
"Wh-What are you doing?"
When I opened my mouth to speak, he slipped his tongue inside my mouth and started sucking my tongue and rubbed his tongue against it. While he was ruling my mouth, his hands started unbuttoning my uniform. I couldn't stop him from unbuttoning since I was sunk in his kiss. He threw my shirt away and lifted me up and started smooching my neck.
"It's an offence to treat an office like this. You're going to get punished."
He placed his fingers on my lips and said, "Don't talk. You sound like we're cosplaying." And inserted his fingers into my mouth asking me to suck it while he was trying to give me a bite.
He dropped me on the couch and unbuttoned his shirt, threw it away and removed his belt.
I sat straight and asked him, "What are you trying to do?"
"Wasn't it obvious?" He pushed me on the couch and got on top of me.
After a while,
Ace asked while tracing his hand on my temple, "By the way, what were you doing in the grand hotel?"
"Didn't you forget already? I was on inspection. There's been a new drug on the market recently so I came to the hotel regarding that case."
"What's the name?"
"G-25. Do you know the drug?"
He sat straight in the bed and said, "Yeah, because that's the drug I've been dealing with."
I put on my clothes quickly and said, "Leave my house right now."
"Why?"
"I totally forgot what we are for a while. I made a mistake. Please, leave."
When he held my hand, I said, "I can't believe I slept with a guy who I was supposed to arrest. What am I going to do? If the chief knows about it, I'll be doomed…"
"Louisa?"
"I couldn't think of anything right now. I'm sorry but Can you please leave my house right now?"
"What about us, Louisa?"
"Ace, please… Please don't make it hard for me. Let's talk about this later. Now, leave."
