Louisa's p.o.v;
Raphael asked without an expression on his face, "What am i witnessing here?"
"Raphael, I…"
When i tried to walk to him, He said, "Stop right there."
"Raphael…"
"Don't talk to me. Do you know how shocked I am to see you with him? Is this the friend you talked about? Is this the guy who you slept with?"
I nodded and stood still.
When he tried to slap me, Ace held his hand to stop him from hitting me.
I said to Ace, "Please, Leave."
After Ace left, Raphael slapped me right across the face and asked, "Do you even know who he is? He's the Phantom gang leader. He's a Mafia. Who's wanted by the police. Us. You're supposed to arrest him, not sleep with him dammit!... Now i understand why you got relieved from the case, he's related to that case, right? Thinking about the things that happened in the past… how long have you known him?"
"Even before I joined as a cop."
"So it was all a lie. You were with him all these years and lied to me that you don't about him. Did you join the police department to spy for that mafia? I'm sorry I meant, for your sex buddy?"
"I love him." I said while crying out of my eyes.
He let out a fake laugh and said while holding my shoulders, "Louisa, listen to me. It's okay. You only slept with him. Maybe its a mistake." He held my hands and said, "Cut all the ties with him, Louisa. You don't need him… Maybe you got manipulated by him. It's alright, just make ends with him…"
I snapped his hand and said, "Why are you talking like this? it's not some fling, I love him. I'm in love with him." And dropped on the floor and continued crying.
"Do you think you have future with him? If you have a thought like that in your mind, then you're stupidest person I've ever met in all my life. He's not someone who burgled some money, he's a murderer. Are you saying that you're in love with a guy who murders others for fun? No matter how you hold on to him, in the end, he's going to die." And walked out of the house.
While i was sobbing in the floor, I heard noises outside. It sounded like someone's fighting. I heard Raphael and Ace voice.
When I came outside, I saw Raphael hit Ace. I ran and stood in the front of Ace and shouted, "Raphael, leave!"
When i saw Raphael, his lips were bleeding too. Did Ace hit him? Raphael wiped the blood on his mouth and said, "Don't ever talk to me again!" And left.
I asked Ace, "Why did you hit him?"
"How can I stay still after hearing him talking like that to you? Since he's your friend, i let him go with a single punch."
"Does it hurt? Did he hit you because you hit him?"
"I got hit because i told him to stay away from you."
He hugged me and said while being in embrace, "Your eyes are become red. Don't cry anymore." And caressed my hair.
The next morning,
At the police station, when I walked in, I searched for Raphael in the office. He was sitting in a different desk which made me confused.
When I was about to walk to Raphael, Elisa came and said, "You're wanted by the chief."
"Do you know why?"
She shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't know. But he looked fierce. Maybe he's in a bad mood. Be careful while talking with him."
I entered the chief room and stood infront of him. He looked like how Elisa described him. Did Raphael told him about me? Did he ask me meet him because of that? Is he going to fire me?
He asked, "Have you finished the case of Mr and Mrs Mullins?"
"Yes, sir. It's their daughter, Sarah. She hired a sniper through her boyfriend to kill her parents, Sir."
He nodded and said, "Then prepare the report about the case and arrest her."
"Yes, sir."
When i was about to walk out of his cabin, he said, "What happened between you and Raphael?"
"Sir?"
"He came to my cabin this morning and asked me to change his desk. Do you two had any fight in between you?"
While i was struggling to answer him, he got a call so he allowed me to go.
When I sat down at my desk, I started to type the report about Mr and Mrs Mullins case. When I'm finished with it, i took a nap at my desk.
Elisa tapped on my shoulder and said, "We planned to eat in the nearby cafe. Come with us."
When i looked at the people who were ready to leave, i saw Raphael with them. If i go with them, Raphael will feel uncomfortable with me.
I said to Elisa, "It's fine. You go."
She grabbed my hand and said, "Everyone's coming. It'll be fun. Let's go."
After a while,
We ended up in the cafe, me, Elisa, Gabriel, Eduardo and Raphael. Everyone was talking about something while I was thinking about last night. I thought Raphael will get mad on me and tell everyone what i hid for all these years but to my surprise he remained silent. He didn't talk to me since morning. I don't know what he's thinking right now.
Eduardo waved his hand in front of my face and asked, "What world are you in right now?"
"Sorry, what are talking about?" I asked.
"I was telling about the drug case i handled recently. Did you listen or not?"
Raphael, "No need. I think she knew about it better than all of us."
Eduardo, "What?"
"I meant that since she's a expert, she would predict the culprit easily than us."
"Oh, yeah. If she took the case by single-handedly, she would have solved it in a day."
Raphael, "Yeah, she would have solved it in a day."
When i stood up, Eduardo asked, "Are you going to give a toast?"
"I got to go to restroom." And walked awayfrom them.
While i was standing near the restroom, Raphael came and asked me, "Are you feeling guilty? Because if you aren't, you should. For lying to everyone."
"Raphael…"
"Don't say anything. I'm not ready to hear anything from you. Whatever that comes out of your mouth is going to be a lie. I don't want to hear that shit."
While he was talking, someone said, "Watch out your words. Is that how you talk to a girl?"
When i looked who it was, it's Ryan.
Ryan said to him, "I don't know what happened between you two but she's not like how you said."
Raphael said to him, "Looks like you're one of her victims." And left to the table.
After he left, Ryan asked me, "How are you, Louisa?"
"I'm good. I didn't realise it was your cafe when i walked in. A lot changed from the last time."
"Are you cop now?"
"Yeah."
"Louisa, is something wrong?"
I couldn't control myself so i hugged him and said, "I'm okay. I'm happy to see you here." I wiped my tears and broke the hug and said, "Where's Danielle? Is she's around?"
"Louisa, it's been four years. She graduated college and moved to Chile."
"Oh, okay. I'm happy for her. How's your cafe by the way?"
"Yeah, it's good. Some customers miss your Russian cake."
"Really?"
He nodded and said, "I don't why but it feels like a investigation while you're questioning me. I don't know if it's the unifor."
I laughed and said, "Ryan, stop teasing me."
"You came with your friends?"
"Colleagues."
"Okay. Go and join them. They must be waiting for you."
"Yeah."
After a while, when we came out of the cafe, i got a call from Ace. Why is he calling me now?
I excused myself and answered his call, "What is it?"
"Is it alright in the station? Did he speak with you?"
"No, he's still mad at me."
"Didn't he speak to you?"
"He does. But it was mostly filled with sarcastic talks. He thinks that everything was a lie. I don't know how to talk with him. I thought it'll be alright if I started my day as usual but it didn't. It feels uncomfortable here. It feels like i got lost in the middle of nowhere."
"That's why i asked you to take leave from work some day. Stay where you here. I'll come and pick you up."
"It's fine. I can do it. I'll take care of it. "
I ended the call and went back to them.
After a while,
After getting a call from the police station, I came to investigate about some missing case of a six year old.
I inquired the parents, "Can you explain to me what happened?"
The mother of the child spoke, "While we're returning from our trip, one of the car became flat so Harry was changing it with the spare wheel. Charlie and i was helping him with the tools. Once we done with the car wheel, Harry was trying to jumpstart it. I noticed that Charlie wasn't with us. We searched for him everywhere but we couldn't find him."
Mr Hill started, "I thought it was some random kidnapping but i didn't get a call like that. As time pass by, i started feeling anxious and filed a complaint."
I asked them, "Thanks for your cooperation. I'll leave my number with you. If you get any anonymous calls don't forget to contact me."
Mrs Hill said, "They said you'll find missing kids quickly than any others. We put trust in you. Please help us find Charlie for us. He'll be sad if he wasn't with us."
"Don't worry. I'll find him soon."
After sometime, i reached the place where they said Charlie gone missing by cab. I asked the driver to stop the car where Mr and Mrs Hill car was broke down. I looked around and saw the surveillance camera which was facing the car from frontwards. I got inside the can and checked the footage using my illegal connection. When i looked into it, i can only see the car's front side. The boy went behind the car and didn't come out. Where did he disappear into? No one was around too. Something came into my mind which i hoped not to be true.
I rushed to Mr and Mrs Hill house and asked them to throw the keys of their car. When i got it, i asked, "Which car did you take?"
After they pointed a Audi, i opened the car bunk and saw Charlie. I took him out of the car and said, "I'll take him to the hospital." And placed him in the car which i used it to come to Mr Hill's house.
After we reaching the hospital, I carried him into the hospital and admitted him and waited outside the room for the doctor. Mr Hill was consoling Mrs Hill when I looked at them.
After a while, the doctor came out and said Charlie's alright. I felt relieved after hearing it from him.
Mr Hill and Mrs Hill thanked me by giving me a hug and went to look at Charlie.
After looking at them being relieved, it gave me some happiness which i really wanted right now.
While i was walking out of the hospital, i got a phone call from Raphael.
I answered it, "Yes?"
"Where are you right now?"
"Outside related to a case. Why?"
"I've got a bad news for you."
"What?"
"Your boyfriend got arrested for committing a murder. He's in the interrogation room right now. Where are you?"
"Raphael, don't play with me. I'm not in a good state to argue with you."
"I'll send you a picture." And he ended the call.
When i opened the chatbox, I saw the picture of Ace being handcuffed and sitting inside the interogation room like Raphael said.
"Who did you kill this time?"
I stuck my phone inside my pocket and headed to the police department.
