As I stared at her and she stared back with honey brown unfazed eyes many questions ran through my head. What was she doing in my house? How was she inside my house? Did she just like walk through the guards and they decided not to inform anyone that a random stranger was coming in?
How did she know where I lived? Why did she choose to visit? Didn't she have JAMB to write??
"What are you doing here?" I asked only one of the many questions I had. After I heard what Isa had to say about her sudden disappearance I really didn't expect to ever see her again.
"She is here to see you," I heard Stephanie's voice. I looked at her for elaboration. "The security kept trying to tell you that you had a visitor but you weren't replying so they texted me and since she said she was a classmate, I let her in. It's not a problem that she's here right?"
"I don't think Alya would have a problem with me being in her house. You don't have a problem with that right?" Kaira asked.
"It is not a problem. Thanks for leading her to my room Steph," I said to Stephanie smiling. Kaira entered my room and I closed the door as Stephanie left.
"Have a seat," I offered her.
She smiled while thanking me before sitting on one of the bean bags Kylie had left in my room for some reason and I had also not discarded yet for reasons I also didn't understand.
"Who is she?" Kylie asked only glancing up to look at Kaira once.
"I am Alya's classmate and friend," Kaira said.
"I didn't ask you," Kylie said.
"You just needed to know who I was so it doesn't matter who provided you with the information," Kaira said rolling her eyes. I sighed afraid that the both of them would start fighting.
"Still didn't ask you," Kylie said not looking up from her phone. Have I ever mentioned that she was like always on her phone and in my room.
"You are probably wondering why I suddenly came to visit you right?" Kaira asked and I nodded.
"Hi Alesscia. Didn't see you. How are you doing?" She asked Alesscia who I was sure she actually noticed earlier.
"I am okay. How are you? You have been missing from school for about two weeks now. I really thought I would never see you but it seems I am not that lucky..."
Kaira laughed at that statement while Alesscia rolled her eyes and continued speaking, "Aren't you writing JAMB?"
"I am actually going to write. Mine is in two days. What about you?"
"Same," Alesscia replied and I sighed annoyed that a lot of time had been wasted and I still didn't know what Kaira was doing in my house.
"So why are you here?" I asked again.
"Right. Sorry about my sudden visit. I just wanted to see you. I felt that you might have a couple questions to ask me perhaps. And I don't like leaving questions unanswered. So that's practically why I am here," Kaira said in her usual calm voice.
"Why would you think I would have questions to ask you?"
"I don't know. Why do you have questions for me?" She asked and Kylie actually looked away from her phone to stare at the both of us. I mean she really put her phone down.
"How certain are you that I have questions?" I asked.
"Not certain at all. As I said, I just had the feeling. You know more like a premonition," she replied.
"Premonition?" Kylie and Alesscia asked in unison.
"Yeah, a premonition," she replied.
"A premonition that what would happen?" I asked confused
"A premonition that we fell into a rythmn where the music don't stop for life," she said with an annoying smile.
"Is she crazy because I really think she is and I am actually serious this time around," Kylie said actually sounding serious.
"Are you going to ask me your questions or not?" Kaira asked. I stared at Alesscia and she just stared back.
"Okay. Since you insist. I actually did have a couple of things I wanted to be cleared. Firstly did you and Chiamaka plan to send my nude pics to our class' group chat?"
"No, I and Chiamaka didn't plan such. That was only Chiamaka's plan," she said with such confidence that I was forced to believe she wasn't lying.
"But you knew about the plan and said nothing?" I asked her.
"I didn't say anything because I didn't really think she would go through with it..."
"So just because you didn't think she would go through with it, you put Alya at stake?" Alesscia asked in disbelief.
"No, that's not the case. I actually knew from Isa's behavior and extereme willingness to help that she would do something to stop it."
"But Isa said you had something to do with the plan. I want to just know what you would gain by helping Chiamaka. Do you have anything against me?" I asked.
"No, I don't have anything against you. The truth is that I didn't want you and Ifeanyi to be together because that would definitely drive me crazy. I'm in love with Ifeanyi..." I didn't utter a word as I stared at Kaira in surprise.
"Is that what you want to hear? Some crazy messed up reason for me wanting to help Chiamaka. Actually none of what I said earlier is true. I had no reason to help Chiamaka so I didn't. Isa was lying," Kaira stated.
"Who do you think I would believe, the girl who helped me a great deal or one who knew that something terrible was being planned against me and didn't utter a word?" I asked her.
"The one who you think helped you of course. I would believe Isa too if I were you but not everything is as it appears."
"Okay, whatever you say. I heard you weren't in school because you had problems with your foster parents," I said diverting the topic.
"Yeah. I killed my foster mom and my foster dad thinks I am the one who committed the murder," she said. We all kept quiet for a minute or two.
"You are not normal," Kylie said after sometime voicing all our thoughts.
"Actually, I am my own definition of normal. Everyone is their own definition of normal although some are more normal than the others. The first mistake one would make would be to think that they aren't normal. Beside, I was just joking," Kaira said.
We all kept quiet as we stared at her all of us probably worried about her mental health.
"If I have answered all your questions now, am I free to leave?" She asked and I forced a nod before she ushered herself out of the room.
