When Jude saw that the Chief was ready to listen to him he looked at Shanty and Shanty nodded, giving him the encouragement to go on.
"Good day to everyone here and especially to the Chief of this land; I have so much desire to make myself known and it gives me joy that there re ways to do what they do. I have so much confidence that this land is prospering on its own light because of the Chief that oversees the affairs of this land. I am so much happy to be here and despite the present condition of me and my wife to be we are not going to say that we hate this land. Already my wife to be was a witness of how i was able to escape the grip hand of death when I had to have a combat with the one that was after me. You all know without being told that it was not my portion and if I had wanted to do better i would have ofcourse done better but then I was struck to the ground but not after I had already brought down the one that I was fighting with and having brought him down it was clear that I won the fight and there was no partiality in the fight. Now the issue started when the youngest wife the Chief of this land decided to help a dying person and that was how are administered treatment that cured me from the wounds that I sustained during the bloody fight. Now having treated me and ofcourse she treated me so well I began to notice that I was getting fine quicker than normal and i felt such a skill should be appreciated but that plan to appreciate her was cut short when she walked in and made me to understand that the husband, that is the Chief was not happy with me and he was going to ensure that I and my woman wouldn't be able to get out this village alive. Now we had wanted to know and if we had gone without having to delay ourselves by what we called, "Trying to save a life" maybe we wouldn't have been seen by you villagers who dragged us back to this palace to face your Chief and stand under a trial before him. We did not want to continue with our escape without ensuring that the one that saved us was with us. The whole thing was so pathetic, having to watch her tell me and my woman that she needed to return to the palace because already the husband had insisted that she was going to do for her role in my recovery. I would have done what I did before you villagers came for me I am to be given another chance. What do you lot expect? to fold my hands and watch an innocent person die?"
Just as he was speaking the villagers started shouting, asking their Chief to give them the permission to stone Jude and Shanty since they had decided to shame their custom and tradition by talking against and belittling their norm of ensuring that a Chief has full control over his wife. When the people became aggressive the Chief raised his hand and there was total silence. Jude and Shanty began to wonder what kind of dark magic the Chief was using, what kind of spell he was using on those people. At that moment he stood on his feet and pointing at his wife with anger written on his eyes said, "You are the reason why I am being mocked today, you are the reason our land, our tradition, our law is being put in the mud, you are the reason I am being condemned in my own palace by some strangers who think because they come from a foreign land they can change whatever they want to change in our land and go free with it. All thanks to our gods that we are united under one spirit. You my own wife, whom I married last and tended to make my own, my very own, you turned against me and chose my enemies over me. Because of this act of yours I will ensure that you are faced with death infront of these that you chose above me and then after you must have died before them then I will take their lives as well and make sure that they don't live to act like this again" Shanty had heard it all and this time she felt it would be right for her to challenge the Chief with words since she was aware she was going to die afterall. She stepped forward and when the people tried to restrain her the Chief asked them to stand down and that was exactly what they did, they stood away from her and she stood before the Chief, ofcourse there was enough gap between them.
"You are not human then if you choose to end the life of this woman and mind you your wife has equal rights as you. You are not supposed to treat her as trash talk more of killing her because she was human enough to help those that were in need of her help but you were so much inhuman that you did not care if anything evil befell us. We have nothing else to say except that it would only be better if we could just take our eyes and focus it on the things that matter the most. Since you have proven to your blind people, whose blindness have prevented them from seeing your evil character and since they have chosen to welcome it that you are their slave master I have nothing else to say except that even in my death I so much appreciate your wife and she will be welcomed wholeheartedly by the ancestors of this land, this land you brought evil laws into in order to support your evil deeds"
