There was nothing else to think about. Ken had decided that it would be good to send someone to go look for Charles. There were many who were begining to doubt the stories that Ken had been telling them and before long and if care is not taken they would start to fight the company, thinking that Charles must have died but the company doesn't want to reveal it to them.
"They will come for us if we continue to lie to them that Boss is on his way back to the company. Boss knows that without his presence there will be chaos here. What are we going to do, are we to continue to fold our hands? These hungry beasts that are in our midst will soon start to wage war against us. They think us vulnerable already and rivals turn to enemies when they have the chance" This was Ken talking.
"I can understand you and I think if it should be done alright then we need to focus our attention on the thing that matters the most, we need to ensure that we focus on those things so as to cure this disease that is fast setting in. Then the question is; who will we send to look for him?"
"Well, firstly I think it better to involve Sarah and her husband Emeka to see what they have to contribute in this matter. If what they bring to the table can be helpful then we swing into action once and for all" said Ken and Rose nodded in comprehension.
The next day Emeka and his wife Sarah were invited in Ken's house and after they had seated Rose came out to greet them and then they began to talk about the issue on ground.
"I tried reaching boss the other time but I could not. I began to wonder why. There was no signal where he was and this can only mean one thing; boss has gone on one of his journies that always ended up become a problem for the company" Ken had said.
"But Boss has never gone to any mission he insisted he wanted to go alone and not come back safely. I think what we should be concerned about is ensuring that he returns to settle the men from the other region who are beginning to think boss is hiding from them with their money and since they already refused to do business with us this is the only problem I think we have" said Sarah but her husband Emeka objected.
"No, I don't think so love" this was Emeka the husband speaking. He cleared his throat and continued, "Look at it this way; boss has never stayed this long on any of his trips in the past and he had always found a way to reach either of us. What is happening now shows he is either not safe or something worse has happened. We need someone who can go in search of him, someone we can trust, someone that is only one so as not to attract so much attention to ourselves" Emeka must have made a great point and the rest nodded. Ken was left to conclude the meeting and he hesitated for a while before he looked at their faces and said, "I think I know someone who will go for us"

Veronica was bathing when she began to hear a noise inside the living room of her father's old house. She wondered who had entered the house without knocking. She immediately took hold of her wrapper and because the bathroom was situated outside the main house she had to go up to the house from there and having known her life would be in danger she had her gun with her even in the bathroom. He took hold of that gun and began to make her way to the main house. She could still hear that noise and so she hid behind the door to the entrance of the house and asked in a low tone, "Who is in there?" there was silence and then she waited until she heard a noise again, "I said who is in there"
"It is me Veronica, you can come in" said the voice.
"This is my house, I should be ushering you in not you. What are you doing there and if you mean well step outside with your hands raised" She said and just then she began to hear footsteps and she stayed away from the door, stepping back. The footsteps became nearer until she began to see a shadow emanating from the room and then the person showed his face. She was shocked to see who it was and she lowered her gun with her jaw dropped open.
"Can we go in and talk now?" said Ken as he stood there as if he owned the house.
"I...I, sir, I..." she stuttered.
"Common, don't be a baby, let's talk" he walked back inside and she hesitated before following him from the back. They got inside and sat down. Once they had taken their seats she lowered the gun and leaned it against the wall. Ken's eyes were on the gun as he kept smiling. "That is something else you got there babe" he said.
"I got it from Sack" she said.
"Sack sells real stuff. Let me feel it" he said and she took it up and handed it over to him. He cocked it noisely and balanced it in his arms before he gave it back. She collected it from him and was Impatiently waiting to hear what he had to say to her, what could have brought him to her village and right into her father's house.
"Sir, I am still wondering why this unexpected visit" she said.
"If I had decided to make it expected you would have declined my desire to come. Now that I am here I think you need to hear what I have to say" he said and adjusted himself.
