The battle was over. It was not clear what happened and how it happened but the leader of the cannibals could not deny the fact that what he saw was what it was and that it was clear how Charles was able to defeat Goro. Goro was at Charles's feet headless and Charles was standing there holding the sword Goro had used to fight him. The people were shocked and they waited to hear what their leader had to say. Just then one of the people ran to the leader and whispered something into his ear. When he was done the leader sighed and asked that Charles be taken back into the well where Jude and Shanty were kept. He was taken away before they took him off they collected the sword from him. The leader of the cannibals was walking back to his hut like a vulture that had been beaten by a heavy rain. His followers did not say a word to him because they could see he was so mad and would not be in the right position to speak back at them. They cleared the way for him as he passed and headed to his chamber. Inside his chamber his wife stared at his face and wondered what was on his mind. He sat dejectedly on the egde of the bed and avoided looking at her face.
"I am sorry about Goro" she said and waited for him to say a word but then there was no word. "I know how you feel, having to loose him like that" she said again but still he did not respond to her instead he got up and began to remove his cloths. After he was done he laid on the bed half naked and the wife sighed, knowing too well that he was not going to respond to her again.
When Charles was put back inside the well where Jude and Shanty were kept the both of them kept looking at him as if they had seen a ghost. Jude made a statement that he got no response from. "You survived that?" There was no response from Charles and they felt it would be better if they kept mute and stopped talking to Charles. Charles on the other hand was aware they had more respect for him after he defeated Goro.
"The people of this land must be seeing him as a god now" Said Jude in a whisper and Shanty shrugged before she shook her head.
"Are you saying there is something we are supposed to do that we are not doing?" asked Shanty.
"Let us wait and see what happens next though. We are not going to allow anything interfer. Let us wait and see" And so they waited.
The next day Charles was told by one of the guards that the Leader of the land was requesting for his presence. He rose from the ground where he was seated and began to march up, using the ladder.

Two days already passed since Rose told Ken about the brother of her late husband, Kelvin who was making moves to take away Abel from her. Rose was still worried and having seen how this was eating her up he stood up one afternoon and went to the office. On getting there he spoke with some men in the company and before long the men swung into action.
Two days later Ken invited Rose to the basement and when she arrived he took her by the hand and led her to the room where the man that was after her son was kept.
"I only wanted to do what was right. I had nothing against anyone. If I had I would not have come to this place but here I am, here and unable to prove to my mother that what she had lacked all these years" he had said and at that instance there was more to what was and there was absolutely nothing to be done concerning it. At that instance Rose looked at Ken and asked, "What is he talking about?"
"I don't know. How would I know" said Ken.
"I think I do know. I think he is talking about his mother and how he had already promised her the presence of my son, her grandson on her sick bed. You know what Ken I think I need to have him freed" said Rose with pitious look in her eyes. Ken did not think he heard her right but anyways he was not going to say no to her request.
"Are you now saying we should release him?" asked Ken.
"Yes, he wants to find my son and now we have found him before he does I will like to know better what he wants and see if there is a way we can help each other" said Rose and Ken shrugged and said, "Very well then if you insist. Here he is, tied to that seat and you can go ahead and ask him anything you wish to ask him. I know for sure if he tried to get at you he won't be able to" Ken then left them in there.
"My mother wants to see your son, her grandson. She regrets that Kelvin, my younger brother was a beast that treated you like an animal. My mother was like you in the hands of my father and so she detested to hear or see a man maltreating a woman, hence when she was shown the video of Kelvin beating you and almost strangling you to death it did not take her long to admit that her late son deserved the death he saw and that you were just trying to escape from the hands of a cruel man as she did from my mother. She wants to meet you and her grandson. She is dying Rose; that's your name right? She is dying and she wants to meet her grandson. I won't be able to have a child before she draws her last breath. She is old Rose, she is old and she can't wait to see you and your son. Help me from the hands of these people that have brought me here. I was no longer going to come to torment you Rose" he confessed.
"But you were going for my son, you were going after him even after we finished talking. I knew your mind was where he is and you gonna do anything to get at him. We are not saying that it won't interest me to see your mother, the mother of my late husband, what I want to say is that if I follow you to see her what will it solve?"
"It will solve alot, not for me but for her; she would have had the opportunity to meet with the grandson she had not had all these years. Please, these people, this people of yours picked me up and brought me to this place because they are thing to make sure that I find myself in a bad state. I am sorry that In my ignorance I thought I could move against you and survive it but little did I know that it doesn't work like that, especially in a city where Charles is the lead"
"You know about my boss?" asked Rose.
"Who doesn't know about your boss? He is known far and wide and this city is his. I was moved ignorantly by the inspiration and the desperation of a son who is about to loose his mother and he is compelled to do whatever he could to save her life or make her happy before she dies. I am so sorry for my actions" he apologised and Rose who was not about the apology stood up and walked outside to meet with Ken. She met Ken discussing with a man and he stood before him and said, "I want him realised"
"You what?" Ken thought that would be so insane of her; to release a man who always was in search of her only son, the same son she was bent on ensuring that she saved no matter what happens. While he was still showing how shocked he was Rose added after she had adjusted her sunshade, "I need him released. I think it is time I consider family Ken"
"I really understand what you mean when you say that. I am in support of your move. I will get him released and then what are you going to do then after that?" Ken asked.
"I don't know but I will just try as much as possible to make things work. There is no way I can look away from the fact that there are many who are going to do better than me. I will follow him to see his mother and I will like to go there with my son Abel. I know you will be willing to go with us as well" said Rose but Ken shrugged disapprovingly and said, "You know that it is Impossible for me to go with you. There is no way I can go with you to that place. I am a gate here Rose and I can't just leave. You see you are not going to be seen going on such a journey alone. It is harmful to you and to your boy and so I am going assign you some men who will see your going to that place and returning safely. I hope that will be okay?" When he said this Rose did not respond immediately but kept staring at him. "What?" he was forced to ask.
"What? You are funny Ken, you know for sure that I will never go without you, you know for sure that there is no way that will be possible. You must not allow anything to happen the way that you are already allowing it to happen. Let me tell you; if you are not going with me then I am not going" When she said this he smiled and held her by the shoulders and gave her a peck on the cheek and said, "Very well then. I wanted to go to my house from here but you see because of this development I will head to the hotel where I will be refreshing with you. We have been so busy these days that we hardly give ourselves time together" She smiled and waited to here more of his complaints. "I am just worried about boss"
"You should not be worried about boss. I have so much confidence that boss has a lot to give and there is nothing stopping him. His life will not be cut short just yet. You do your part by ensuring that the company runs smoothly and then you leave the rest. We are here to help you, to help you as a friend and as anything you would want us to stand by you as. I don't like seeing you worried. So you see, now that you have seen a reason to follow me when I go with this man, this Kelvin's brother to meet with his mother with my son I guess I have to go with you to refresh just like you said but before we move I would be so happy if you pay heed to my pleas and release the man. He is suffering in that seat he is sitting on and you know so well that I can't stand a man suffering while I am enjoying, especially if the reason why he is suffering is because of me. You see, so release him and we can go"
Ken walked back inside the room where Kelvin's elder brother was tied to a seat with a wire and he bent over him and said, "Well, I like people that handle guns because I already know they can't beat me. I will untie you now and then you thank your late brother's wife" he untied him.
