Chapter 36

"Pull yourself together, Mason." Ariel cried in front of the set that night and tears welled up in her co-actor's eyes as he coughed up blood. "I was really happy, Yvonne."

Her hands went to his face and tears crawled down her beautiful cheeks. "I was really happy too, Mason...so don't die and leave me alone." "Cut." The director said from the set and everyone applauded as they rose to their feet. "Good work, you were excellent Ariel."Someone said and a costumier walked over to hand her wipes.

"Where is she?"

Everyone's head whirled around to see Ariel's boyfriend, who was a popular artist making his way to the set, an angry look on his face.

Ariel didn't seem bothered as he walked up to her.

"What's this?" He asked as he turned the screen of his phone to her as she wiped her face and she did not have to turn to look as she knew the reason he was there. She had made a press conference announcing their break-up.

"We were in a good relationship, Ariel. What's this about breaking up? We even talking about getting married?" He yelled and she tilted her head to click her tongue as she looked at him from head to toe.

"Why are you acting like this again?" She scowled as she walked down from the set, knowing he would follow her.

"What did I do again? You're the one who didn't tell me you were breaking up before going to announce it to the press." He yelled and she sat down before she picked up her phone.

"I guess it was true when they say you toyed with people before getting rid of them."

"You knew that..."She said and raised her eyes to him "...but you still asked me out who is the dumb fool here?" She asked and resumed pressing her phone.

"You're a bitch. A bitch like you needs to be bled dry and killed by a vampire." He said and she rose up before she walked to him.

"How can you say such a harsh thing?" She asked as she stretched to whisper in his ear. "Do you even know...how it feels like to be bitten by a vampire?"

He seemed shocked as he pulled back. "Wh...what?"

She went to pick up her purse before she pushed him aside.

"Thanks for the good work today. I'll see you guys tomorrow." She said to the crew and turned to head out.

Her driver walked outside to open the door for her and she got into the car as she slipped out her phone to look at the time. The detective should still be at the station.

"Don't drive me home...we are going to the station."She said when the driver got in.

"Yes miss." He replied as he started the car. The driver fell silent for a couple of minutes before he asked.

"Miss, are you going to the station to report him?"

She turned to look out the window, ignoring him and he continued.

"He's the one who acted weirdly and had the audacity to get mad at you. It's understandable why you stopped liking him."

She trailed a finger down her earlobe and ran her tongue over her lips. There was no way the detective would resist her.

There was a knock on his office door and Kaiwan lifted his head from the document he'd buried himself in.

"Come in." He said and the door opened and Zuriña walked in.

"Hi, detective." She said as she closed the door behind her before she walked up to sit across him.

"What's the latest news on the angels of death?"

"Sahan escaped."

"What?"

"We purposely allowed him escape after planting a chip inside his body. Vampires are hard to track down because they frequently change their hideout, so that was the best we could do to find out the hideout, but when we arrived there was nothing except for the charred chip."

"So he died..." She said as she leaned back.

"...that means they are stronger vampires out there that are capable of killing Sahan."

"Yes, there is an unspoken hierarchy among the angels of death. They make their moves according to this hierarchy and the next angel of death after Sahan is Ash...but there is something weird."

"What is it?" She asked and she pulled up close to see the documents.

"Compared to other angels of death, there is almost no information on Ash. What her role among the others is, what ability she has...the only lead we have..." He was saying as he passed that a picture of a green-haired girl to her. "...is this picture."

"This means we have to stay alert." She said as she examined the picture.

"Yes. Ash or some other angels of death will likely make their move soon." He said and rose before arranging his table.

"You're leaving?

"I'm done with office work for the day. I'll work at home." He said and she rose.

"Let's head back together then."

Officers saluted him as they walked out of the station and he looked up to see a beautiful night it was.

"Detective, do you remember what happened at the restaurant?" She asked and he looked down with a smile.

"Of course, I was a bit troublesome."

"I thought you were one of Master's agents but it's a relief that you weren't." She said as she raised her head to look at him and he considered her cute for a second before he hurriedly tore his eyes away.

An awkward silence fell in between them and he cleared his throat.

"We don't know what will happen, so avoid leaving home as much as you can from now on. You can give me a call instead."

"Alright." She said and he suddenly stopped on realising he forgot something.

"Crap." he muttered and she turned to him. "What is it?"

"I forgot my laptop in the office." He said and reached for his keys, feeling reluctant to go back.

"I'll go get it for you." She said and he gladly turned to her.

"Really? Thanks." He replied as he handed over the keys to her and she turned to walk to the office.

"It's in..."

"Officer." Someone called before he could tell her where it was and he turned to see a familiar face walking up to him with a smile. "Where do I go if I want to sue dishonest commenters?" She asked, sweeping her hair from her face.

Right, it was the famous actress Ariel Martin. "Walk through the front door and head up the second floor." He replied as he heard murmurs from the people nearby. They were probably wondering what relationship he had with her.

"Don't you know me?" She suddenly asked surprising him with her question.

Who wouldn't know the most popular actress who donated money to a charity home that same year?

"You're an actress."

She smiled. "I thought you didn't recognise me."

"You're a popular actress so who wouldn't recognise you...Do excuse me." He said and turned to leave when she pulled him back.

"Did you eat something recently?"

"Huh?"

"There's something on your lip."She replied. That was weird. How could there be anything on his lip when he was yet to have dinner?

He touched his lower lip. "Here?"

"Not there."

It was be his upper lip then. "Here?"

"No, not there." She said and made to rub her thumb over his lip.

"Right here."
