Chapter 332: Stumbling Onto A Secret

Zhai Muchen had never used such strong tactics against his aunt and uncle before. Firstly, his grandfather doted on his aunt, as she was his only daughter and secondly, their aunt had taken care of them when they were young. Even if she did it out of selfishness, one had to repay the favour owed to them. But using these little favours Uncle Yun and Yun Tao tried to cross a limit that they should not have ever.

When he thought about how Yun Tao hired thugs to not only beat his brother but even tried to threaten and corner Han Ruochen, he felt furious.

All these years, he had taken account of his aunt and had taken care of his uncle, who did not have many skills but had grand ambitions. If not for the fact that he was taking care of Uncle Yun, he would still be working as a small worker in a shop. It was all thanks to him that Uncle Yun was able to get into the military and rise to prominence so quickly.

He spent most of his time in the army and seldom stayed at home. In the army, he took care of his uncle even though he was his junior and despite that, Uncle Yun’s son had the impudence to bully his little brother at home. This was not something that Zhai Muchen was going to forget in a hurry.

"Muchen...I know that you are angry but this is a matter between Ah Heng and Taotao. Why are you interfering?" Old Master Zhai was stunned when he heard that Zhai Muchen was not going to help his son-in-law with his promotion. It was not that he wanted to help his son in law but his daughter was a pain in his arse. If his son-in-law’s promotion were affected, his daughter would certainly cause trouble for him. He was an old man who deserved his peace.

Old Master Zhai retired from the army long ago and all of his connections were handed to his son, as for Zhai Muchen he achieved his position on his own. But compared to his son, his grandson was easier to talk to and Old Master Zhai had relied on his grandson for these little things. Now that Zhai Muchen was proving just as difficult to deal with, he did not know what to say at the moment.

"Grandfather, you can ask this question to Ah Heng; if he agrees with you, then I will help uncle." Zhai Muchen also knew that his grandfather was worried about being bothered by his aunt but that had nothing to do with him. It was his old grandfather’s fault that his aunt had grown more and more arrogant. She did not see what kind of abilities her husband had but she was quick to demand this and that position for him. Did he think she was out for shopping?

"That..." Old Master Zhai was speechless. He turned to look at Zhai Heng, who crossed his arms and snorted heavily. The words ’don’t talk to me’ were printed firmly on his forehead.

Seeing this, old master Zhai did not dare to say a word. Compared to his maternal grandson, he was definitely closer to his grandson. In the past, he had often doted on his two grandsons and would give them whatever they wanted. He had never made an exception when it came to siding with them. He knew that he could not say anything to Zhai Heng or else he would definitely push his grandson away from him. Sighing, he could only swallow his words.

Old Master Zhai sighed. It seemed like there was nothing he could do at the moment.

"Grandpa, aunt is a married woman. She is now a part of the Yun family." Zhai Muchen could see that his grandfather was not happy with the outcome and reminded him. "According to the old practice, she is now called Madam Yun and not Miss Zhai. grandpa do you understand what I am trying to say?" There was some truth in the saying that a daughter married is like spilled water.

His aunt was now biased toward the Yun family. His aunt often visited his grandfather but it was not out of filial piety but because she wanted his grandfather’s intervention and influence. She wanted to use Zhai Muchen and his father’s connection to help her husband but at the same time she felt that she was way above everything and did not want to lower her head in front of her nephew.

Zhai Muchen hated this attitude of hers. If she wanted his help, she should at least act properly.

"Alright, do as you please! Since you have grown up and want to make the decisions in the family, why are you even telling me anything?" Old Master Zhai was angry but there was nothing he could do. He was also a helpless old man, his daughter did not listen to him and now his grandsons did not listen to him either. "I am feeling tired. After tossing around for so long. I need to rest; don’t come in to disturb me."

Old Master Zhai walked away angrily. Seeing this, Zhai Heng peeped at his grandfather and then turned to look at his brother, " Brother, is grandpa angry with us?"

Zhai Muchen glanced at his brother, who would have been ruined if not for Han Ruochen and closed his eyes upon seeing the childish naivety on his face. He was at fault; he should have paid more attention to Zhai Heng when he still had time. He said nonchalantly, "Are you afraid that your grandfather will get angry with you? I thought that you were the one who was angry with him."

"Of course I am angry with him. Does he still think that I am going to forgive him so easily? He always praises Yun Tao in front of me saying that he is so smart and does not waste his time by playing with unruly people. Look at this! At least I am not as crooked as he is, even if I played with some unruly guys. That guy is simply criminal-minded! Compared to him I am nothing but an honest and pitiful guy."
