We make it back to Jarvis’ pack. All of our focus now is on training and preparing for war that is now imminent. Jarvis and Garnett will be working together to train packs to counter magical attacks. Queen Ladonna and the other magics will be sending magical warriors to the regions to help train. We know the war can start any day now especially since we have the former councilman in custody. The king is working with Torrance to get more information about the rebels and their base of operations. The information from Torrance and our intelligence have let us know that there were two different agendas going on. The councilman was trying to take the throne, but the dark lord was trying to get total domination.
Jarvis and I will be training together while we work on building our relationship. We need to get to know each other as people and build our bond stronger. From the goddess, I know that our bond is unbreakable and that Onyx and Tamaska were always meant to be together. Now its time for us humans to build a strong relationship. I need to learn to trust him. Although I know beyond a shadow of doubt that he was influenced by magic, a part of me still believes that he felt something for that she-wolf. After all, he had a relationship with her and did not end it before we got back to his pack after meeting me.
“Lettie, you should ask him about it. I’m sure there is a good explanation. Onyx told me that from the moment he knew about us, we have been the whole world.”
“OK, T. I will talk to him. I guess we really need to clear the air between us.”
I walk into Jarvis’ office and see him, his Beta and his parents looking over the training plan and looking at maps. As soon as his mom saw me, she ran to me and gave me a hug.
“Seleste, I am so glad that you are back, and all this is behind you.”
“Thank you, Ms. Daisy. I am glad to be back. We have a long road ahead of us, but I know we will come out on top.”
I mean that in more ways than one.
“Umm Jarvis, can I borrow you for a few minutes?”
“Any day, any time my love.” Jarvis says. “You all keep working on the plans. Seleste and I will take a walk and meet with you all later.”
Jarvis takes my hand and leads me out to the private courtyard.
“What’s on your mind Love?” Jarvis asked.
“I know that most of what happened was due to you being under the influence of black magic, but I’m confused as to why you hadn’t ended things with that she-wolf after you knew about me. I mean, you told the twins that you realized I was your mate after I projected myself to you. That was before you even came to find me. You had a couple days before that to end things with her. You knew that we would be together and would be returning to your pack together. I guess I don’t understand why you prolonged things. I feel as if you were not sure of what you wanted and put off ending things with her just in case. And honestly Jarvis, I am not ok with that.”
“Seleste, I love you already and from the moment I knew that the moon goddess had given me a second chance, I never thought about another she-wolf. I was so focused on finding you and bringing you home, I forgot about her. It's sad to say that I, an alpha, forgot about my pack and everything else. All I was focused on was finding and rescuing you. It was not until after our talk that I even remembered about her. Honestly, Onyx told me to call her and end things before we left, but I thought that ending things over the phone would be unnecessarily cruel. She had done nothing to me, and I just felt that at the very least, I could do the honorable thing and end things face to face. I never imagined things would turn the way they did. I always believed that she would respect the mate bond. If I had to do it over, I would do things differently and listen to Onyx.”
“I don’t know how to feel about that honestly. I guess wanting to do the right thing is one of the things that make you a great guy, but on the other hand, you trying to do the right thing for her was the wrong thing for me. I wouldn’t want you to be cruel if it is not warranted, but I also deserved to be your first priority. At the very least, you should have allowed me to go to my father’s home for a couple days and get your pack together before bringing me here.”
“I just didn’t want to be separated from you. You know as well as I do that it is hard for mates to be apart once they have mated.”
“I know that is true, but we were marked and fully mated, so we could have handled a couple of days to keep confusion down. Were you going to tell me that you were planning to meet with the she-wolf you had an intimate relationship with once we returned?”
I can tell by the look on his face that Jarvis had never meant for me to know about that meeting. He is such a typical male.
“At the time, No I was not planning to tell you about it. Now with hindsight, I can see clearly that my actions left a lot to be interpreted in the wrong way. I did all the wrong things for what I thought was the right reason. Nothing is more important to me than you and our relationship. Seleste you and your happiness is my number one priority. I can’t promise that I won’t make dumb mistakes, but I can promise you that I will never purposely hurt you and I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you. Seleste, I know this is quick, but I do love you and it is not just the mate bond talking.”
“How do you know it is not the mate bond?”
“Ever since the twins and Talia have been here, they have talked about you nonstop. Talia loves you and is always telling me stories about you, her and the 10. She told me about the rejection and how you handle it. I had so much respect for you. I think I was a little bit in love with you before I ever met you. I didn’t know about the second chance mate thing, so I was even considering asking Talia if she thought you would consider a chosen mate. Before I got my nerve up to talk to Talia about you, you projected yourself to us and the rest is history.”
“I hate to keep bringing up a dead subject, but if you were considering trying for my attention, why did you still have a relationship with that she-wolf?”
“We were technically still in a relationship and she had expected to be my luna, but we had not been together physically in a while and Onyx never accepted her. I was being stubborn because I believed my pack needed a luna.”
“I hate to break this to you, but if you had approached me about being chosen mates without us meeting, I would have turned you down.” I say.
I saw his face drop and decided to finish my thought and put him out of his misery.
“I knew from before the rejection that if I was ever rejected, I would get a second chance mate. It has always been the plan of the goddess for her chosen protector to be happily mated. The mate bond strengthens us. So, no I would not have considered a chosen mate who was not my second chance mate. But truthfully, I was crushing on you just a little. Talia talked about you to all of us as well. She had a lot of respect for you. She told me that she was hoping you would be my second chance mate. She said that we would be perfect together since I would be your second chance mate as well and we could help each other heal. She believed that we would make an awesome team. I believed her. And I agree with her. Even before the moon goddess came to me, I knew that Trevor was not the right mate for me.”
“Why did you feel that way?” Jarvis asked.
"Well, my old pack is a traditional pack. They have clear expectations for their luna. I can never be a traditional luna. My commitment is to all of the supernatural world, not just a pack. There are times like now when I will be called to the frontline of war. It takes a special kind of alpha to be able to deal with the demands on my life. You have been a part of the protector team for most of your life, you better understand what we will face and will be able to work with me and not hold me back. Your pack understands our overall mission and will not expect me to be the traditional luna."
"That makes a lot of sense. No alpha, me included, wants to see their mate run into danger, but I also understand that you were born for this."
"Beside mate of mine, the moon goddess herself told me that we were always meant to be mates. Our road to each other was set for a purpose. Just know that Onyx and Tamaska were mates from the beginning of time, we just had to catch up with them."
Jarvis and I spent a couple hours together in the courtyard just talking and getting to know each other better. I am glad we had this time together, just the two of us. We needed that. Jarvis said that even though we are preparing for war, he will always carve out time for the two of us to spend quality time together
After hanging out together, we head back to Jarvis' office to see how much progress the others have made. We walk into them on a video conference with Garnet and Rose. Rose gets excited when she sees us walk in the room.
"Lett. It is so good to see you smiling. I'm glad everything got resolved. You look happy so now I don't have to kill an alpha. and hide the body." Rose said.
Talia and the twins walk in the office at that moment.
"Who are we killing and how soon do I need to hide the body?" Talia asks as they walk in the room.
Everyone laughs, but the three of us just smile because we all know that at any time, we would kill for each other and hide the bodies.
Jarvis notices the look we gave each other and pulses for a minute. I guess he is realizing that he could have been the body we were hiding. I mindlink Rose and Talia to look at Jarvis' face and the three of us burst out laughing. The others try to figure out why we are laughing. Garnet tells them to let it go because they will never figure it out. The twins look at Jarvis with a smirk. They know why we are laughing, and I know they would help Talia hide the body.
"Ok, now that the ladies have had a good laugh, can you all catch me up on the plan?" Jarvis says.
"So far, our two pack will be working together to train the rest of the packs. Young Trevor and the Royal Gamma has set up the regional training locations around the major packs. We will be sending our trainers and some of the elemental wolves for the training. Queen Ladonna will be sending one or two representatives to each region so we can learn to fight against spells and other magical weapons. The bears will also send technicians to finish installing all of the defenses we will need to protect the packs that are not already protected by the goddess or magic. Madam Iris herself will be working with you and Seleste at your pack. She wants you two to have advanced training.”
I have never met Madam Iris, but I know she was instrumental in clearing the mess with Jarvis and that she-wolf. It would be good for me to work on my defense and offense against magic. The moon goddess told me that magic, good or dark does not have any impact on me, but I need to learn how to break down magical attacks. I also need to get back with Alpha Keenai about the supplements they gave me to nullify the effects of the drugs.
“I think it will be a great opportunity to work with Madam Iris. The moon goddess came to me and told me that magic does not affect me and the dark lord can’t hurt me with magic, but I am still susceptible to drugs. I will need to get back with Alpha Keenai about the supplements they made for me to counteract the effects of the drugs on me and Tamaska. They used some powerful drugs when they kidnapped me. It didn’t block Tamaska, but they did knock me out for hours.”
Garnet agreed to give Queen Ladonna and Alpha Keenai the updated information about the drugs and my resistance to magical attacks.
“Did the goddess tell you anything else about the upcoming attack?” Garnett asked.
“No. She just said that everything has played out for us to be able to win this war. We have been equipped with everything we need, and all of the players are now in place or very close to being in place. She did say that Jarvis and I would be an unstoppable force once we are truly in sync with each other. That we have to do on our own. From this point, she cannot interfere, or it could change fate and not necessarily for the better. She is confident that we will win.”
I think everyone relaxed a little when they heard that. We all know the stakes are high, but with the vote of confidence from the goddess, everyone’s confidence took a big boost. Jarvis looked at me deeply when I told them what the goddess said about us. I know he caught the part about us having to be in sync with one another. I do want that more than anything, but right now, we are broken and need to be put back together. He is my mate, we can’t change that, nor do I want to change it, but we are far from being the partnership that we need to be.
“Well, Seleste and Alpha Blake, If I may, you two need to work on you. We all need you two to be together on this. Let us focus on the other units. Alpha Blake can you let your Beta take over assigning your trainers and working the schedule while you and Seleste focus on training with each other and building your bond? After all, you two will be on the frontline of this war. Seleste will be leading the war and we need her mind focused.” Garnet said.
“I must admit, I’m looking forward to training with my mate. I want to see what she is made of. Let’s see what all the hype is about.” Jarvis says with a smirk.
“I would be careful if I were you Alpha Blake. I gave you a good fight and I’m not even a fraction as good as Seleste.” Talia says.
“I would actually pay to see the look on Alpha Blake’s face when they finally do train together. And Seleste, don’t hold back.” Drew says.
“I won’t. You can count on that. Jarvis honey, you are in for a treat.” I say with a wink.
