Two hours ago Rita was sitting across from Alice and Bernard as Alice explained.
Two hours ago, she got to know that Alice was seven weeks pregnant for a boyfriend who wanted to live the rest of his forever to the fullest without any troubles. Meaning Alice was pregnant with a dhampir. And Bernard was just her coworker until he found her pale and writhing painfully on the stair landing three weeks ago after work.
Alice said the gynecologist told them that the baby needed a regular dose of Erlstric acid to prevent fetal death and severely damaging Alice's reproductive system. Erlstric acid was expensive. A small bottle of the stuff was three hundred dollars enough oy for a few days usage at long intervals. The only alternative was getting it free from the source. A vampiric faery. Presumably, erlstric acid left behind from their bites was in its richest, more potent form. And her closest one and only present one was...Bernard.
Well, that explained the bite marks but not the sex. Bernard took over that explaination. It was a lot less length and as eleborate as Alice's. They just got carried away.
When it was obvious that they had got carried away way more than once. She did not push for more after that. Whatever they do now is their business She just told them to keep whatever they were doing away from her and do their job before doing it.
Alice thanked her and Bernard expressed his gratitude by making her a lavish breakfast. A lavish breakfast that she feared had something in it besides gourmet chocolate, expensive flour, sugar and baking soda.
Since she was not planning on going to the bakery today and with what happened early this morning, she decided that the neighbouring park was the best idea place to get away.
Rita packed up a small bag of snacks, her phone and her earphones. Wore a jacket and wrapped a scarf around her neck and set out.
It did not really snow in Alvas. Before she had wished it would snow enough to build a decent snowman but of recent she was really grateful it did not snow that much. Outside, the weather lightly felt like how bad the office had been before it blew up. Her head hurt just thinking of how cold it had actually been in there.
She stopped at a coffee shop, got herself a drink and headed towards the park. The park was just a ten minute walk from her hotel. In the summer and autumn months she could just see rich people being expensive and boring, walking their blue ribbon winning pets and bragging about what they recently acquired while being envious of one another and looking for a way to undermine and backstab each other. The park here seemed a very likely place for all that to go down.
She found a clear bench and took a seat. She had to give this park props though even with the weather it still managed to look excessively expensive. At least she did not have to clean the bench herself.
She checked some stuff on her phone for a while, sipping tte coffee as she scrolled, occasionally keeping the cup beside her to grab a snack from the bag. She wanted to take out her earphones to use them when she caught something from the corner of her eye.
There was guy in a white shirt and black jacket and pants. He was not there a second ago. Perhaps he had just arrived, she told herself. Nothing suspicious about coming on your own to the park. She continued what she was doing and plugged in the earphones but instead of putting both buds in her ears, she put only one in.
She went back to her phone and played a quiet soothing song. She watched the man in the red jacket from the corner of her eye. For fifteen minutes he did nothing but smoke. Whether it was weed or a regular cigarette she did not want to know but she did not like how he kept glancing at her every few minutes. When he took out his phone, she had had enough. She packed up her things, got to her feet and made towards the park entrance. Discretion be damned.

/1:45 PM/
“Big bro? You there?” Max asked, peeping into his study.
“Yes Max. I'm here.” Samuel responded while looking through the files Xavier had sent him on his laptop.
Max came in through the doors “Ok, thank M&M's” he cheered. Somersaulting to one of the chairs and plopping down on it.
Samuel watched him through his reading glasses and he shook his head. He could not comprehend why he was still trying to figure Max out. “I will never understand you Max.”
Nax spread his arms as if to encase the entire room. “I'm a glorious engima.” he beamed.
“Whatever you say Max.” Samuel said, his eyes already back to his laptop screen.
Max looked at him wondering how the words he was about to say would affect him. “I found out some info on that demon we saw in your secretary's bakery.” he stayed.
Samuel froze for a bit and turned his face sharply up from the laptop to look Max. “Go on.” Samuel encouraged.
‘Well here goes.’ Max thought and continued. “Turns out his name is not Kalzaar. It's Sakaer. Carmilla turned him a thousand and three years ago. He is the one that killed Flavio, Rowena and the rest. He is pretty notorious and low key.”
Samuel set aside his laptop and faced Max without any obstruction. “So he is working with Carmilla.” Samuel stated, taking off his reading glasses.
Max shook his head. “No, I won't say he is. No.”
Samuel furrowed his eyebrows, confused. “Why would you say that?”
Max sat up, all professional and serious. “Apparently he attacked Carmilla last night.”
Samuel's eyes widened in surprise. “I thought made demons could not attack their creators.”
Max leaned back on the chair. “Thought so too but Sakaer seems to have proved that theory wrong. Word on the grape vine says he messed up something grizzly and we all know the legend about Carmilla. She is supposed to be untouchable.”
“And he showed the entire underworld last night that she could.”
“Yup. He is in hiding right now.” Max ascertained.
Samuel's phone rang and he picked up the call. “Talk to me Christina.”
Christina's voice came from the other end accompanied by the the sound of fingers furiously tapping away at a keyboard. “Mr Princeton, you know how you asked me to find any and all connections between that demon fellow and your personal assistant?” she asked.
Samuel kept his eyes to Max and answered. “Yes, I remember.”
“Turns out he has been anonymously sending her flowers for nearly two months.”
Samuel stood up from the chair sending the chair flying backwards. “What?!” he boomed, clutching the desk and his claws dug into the wood.
“It keeps going. He met her two years at a party, slept with her a couple of times, most of which were when he had given her a roofie or knocked her out.” she continued.
Samuel's eyes shifted the gold almost instantly and he clenched his jaw.
“A couple weeks ago she made a call to someone called Gordon Welkeir, said she was being followed. The call was interrupted by signal used by organizations headed by Carmilla. According to the footage I have, her car came to a sudden halt on this avenue. There was a loud scream before it ended abruptly and after a few minutes the car drove back to her house. With Sakaer behind wheel.”
Max watched his friend's reaction as his eyes changed. Not again. “Big bro?”
“I also found out her house's security was fiddled with but I'm ninety nine percent sure that he has been in that house and he definitely was that night your assistant was followed.”
Samuel's hold on the phone tightened and his claws dug into the wood more. “Thank you Christina.” he thanked.
“Just doing my job Sir.” she replied.
Samuel dropped the call.
Max stood up and crossed the length to Samuel's desk. A piece of furniture suffering more than anyone else at the moment. “Samuel are you okay?” Max questioned. “What did Christina say?”
Samuel looked at him with inhumane eyes and Max stopped and bowed to one knee. The Wolf was in control again. Damn it! Fuck being a tadletale! He was telling Samuel when he got his wits back. “You said the demon Sakaer is in hiding.” The wolf spoke.
“Yes Alpha.” Max responded.
“I believe I know his next move.” He said
Max brought his head up sharply in surprise. “You do?”
The wolf growled and took his claws out of the desk. “Yes. He's after my mate.” he declared.
Max's heart and mind raced. ‘Oh shit!! oh shit! shit! shit! This was really fucking bad.’
