CHAPTER 98

Rita left but her scent still lingered. It was everywhere. The kitchen, the living room, the bathroom everywhere. It was driving him insane with longing. Longing and loneliness.

He wanted her back in his arms, to feel her warmth and softness again.

He had not forgotten about the kiss they shared, he longed for another taste. He was sure she had not forgotten either. He just did not know if she regretted it. She still did not trust him enough, after all this second take had only started ten days ago.

She had been apprehensive all the while she had been awake. Her emotions were easy to smell, especially since they had been pouring out of her like water from an open tap. There was a brief moment in time that the cause of her tension was not his apartment or him per say. It was more like what she reminded him of.

Gero devulged that she had left the clinic without taking any form of therapy aside from the incantation removal. And it did not seem she was taking any form of therapy on her own at all.

He could not force her to say anything or go to therapy. He had to wait. When and if she was ready to tell him then he would be there for her. He clutched the blanket tighter and brought it to his nose and inhaled deeply. If she could see him now she would back away and run screaming.

The mark she left on his collar would fade, till then he had to keep it and the effects it was having on him hidden. His phone rang and Samuel growled at the interruption of silence. He took the device off the coffee table. The caller was Dr Evanston, Samuel picked the call.

Sunday was a lazy affair for Rita. The only thing she enjoyed was getting to lie in bed all day and she did not even enjoy that all the way. Her thoughts kept going back to the dream she had about Samuel that Friday night. It made a totally unwanted return last night which resulted in a few cold showers. She could not believe it, not even two weeks in and her body and even her dreams were against her goal. She had a plan, she knew what she wanted and why, this was no time to start thinking about having his head between her legs or sleeping with him for that matter.

Everytime she thought about it or whatever pleasure it would give her, Sakaer and his words invaded her mind. Had she really been having sex with him for so long? If he was telling the truth, then how many times? And how much of it was consensual? Those thoughts kept running through her mind over and over again, and each time she physically recoiled into herself and she felt like she would throw up.

It made her question everything she thought about herself, every decision she had ever made. Some nights she cried, some nights she blamed and cursed herself for being so stupid. Then again, why was she crying? Some people out there were having it way worse than her. She just had to suck it up and keep going even if that meant staggering and crumbling on the way. She had to keep Samuel at a distance. It was for the best. For her, for him. For both of them.

“Dr Evanston, tell me clearly.”

“Alpha, your paternal family line has history of derealization disorder though not precisely dominant. It affects the wolf gene which would explain why your wolf was acting strangely but it does not explain the part about it taking over. I still have a lot more digging to do, just thought to inform you.”

“Alright. Thank you.”

Derealization disorder huh? He did not know that. He was not sure if anyone besides Evanston knew. Maybe his father? Evanston said it was not precisely dominant, what did he mean by that? He would have to call back and ask.

If this got out, then his leadership would be called into question and just about every other Alpha within or beyond the region would contest for his position. His days and his those of his pack would be full of commotion, blood, rivalry and rebellion. His family would be danger. Rita would be in danger. He had to deal with this carefully, the essential part of it all was secrecy. He was sure animals did not get schizophrenia. Then again he was a werewolf and both sides were of the same coin, one and the same person. That was a known and proven fact which made he was going through an anomaly. Perfect fodder material for non-human purists to exploit. He could not let that happen.

He was going to have to let his father know, after he had gotten all the information he could gather. He held the blanket closer and looked up to the ceiling. This just kept getting better and better.

\\THE SLAUGHTER HOUSE CASINO: 11:30 PM\\

"Damn it Klaus! That's the sixth one this night!" Hans yelled to a very relaxed looking Klaus sitting on the other side of his desk in his office. His green shirt was mostly undone and three different shades of lipstick littered his neck.

“Relax Hans, you know I'll pay back all the loses. With interest too.”

“That's the only damn reason i keep letting you in here but still your bad streak is going to cause a decline in customers and you know whatever customers i lose go to Yolanda's . I can't have that.” He had already lost ten to the mega bitch.

Klaus fixed his eyes on him. “So you're kicking me out?”

“Yeah, I'm kicking you out. And you can't get your fix around here anymore either.”

“Word has gone out that you caused your cousin, the alpha guy pissed.”

“And so?”

“So unless you either make peace with him or bring my money by the end of next week or you're banned. Period.” he stated leaving no room for discussion.

Klaus stood up. “You are making a mistake Hans.”

“No I'm not. Get out!” Hans ordered. Klaus remained where he was. “Did you hear me? Get out you fucking loser!”

“You will have your money by the end of next week.” Klaus said, slamming the door shut and storming off.

Isla walked out of the shadows, a smile on her face. “You did well.” she congratulated.

Hans looked at her. He got one demon out only for another to immediately take its place. The only difference was he could not get rid of this one do easily. “Then let them go.” His part of the plan was over.

Isla took a seat on the desk. “All in due time.” she said.

“But you told me–”

“I know what i said. This is also part of it.” she interjected, in the most calm voice. It made him afraid and pissed at the same time. He had to go over this carefully.

“That was not the plan.”

“Are you really trying to argue with me right now? I'm starting to think you don't love your daughters as much as you say or at the very least find them important.”

She looked at her nails. As someone acquainted with all manner of supernatural beings, demons especially, he could clearly tell the difference between acrylic nails and claws. Those were claws and depending on what kind of demon she was, a variety of lethal. “I think I'll just kill them and be done with it.”

“No! I'll do whatever it is you want.” His daughters were all he had.

“Then do as i say without question and you will get them back safe and sound without a single scratch on their pretty little faces.”
