Chapter 71: Confession and Betrayal

Lily's heart felt heavy as she boarded the flight to California. Thoughts of Bella and the tumultuous events lingered in her mind, casting a shadow over her journey back to university. She reclined in her seat, staring out the window as the plane soared through the clouds, lost in the turmoil of her thoughts.

The memories of Bella's challenges flooded her mind, and despite Lily's outward resilience, she couldn't help but wonder how she would have fared in Bella's shoes. The bravery and strength Bella displayed impressed her, leaving Lily questioning her own fortitude in similar circumstances. But she was very happy for her friend that she had finally got together with the man that she loved. Despite being Bella’s biggest supported, she never imagined that she would actually live the day would attend Reid and Bella’s wedding ceremony, especially knowing Reid’s reputation and his status.

She glanced down at her phone, hesitating to open the messages from Tony, her boyfriend. Guilt gnawed at her, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of betrayal. She wanted to talk to him, to explain, but the fear of disappointment and the possibility of their relationship crumbling because of her actions held her back.

The mere thought of facing Tony made her stomach churn with apprehension. She couldn't bear the idea of seeing the hurt in his eyes, of confessing her mistake and witnessing the repercussions of her actions. Each message exchanged felt like another step closer to an inevitable confrontation she was dreading.

Amidst her inner turmoil, she realized something else was bothering her deeply—her fragmented memories of the night with Kade. The gaps in her recollection haunted her, leaving her anxious and unsure. She wished she could remember more, piece together the events, and erase the uncertainty clouding her mind.

As the plane began its descent, the sinking feeling in her chest mirrored the descent of the aircraft. Lily felt her heart descending too, a sense of unease settling in as the imminent meeting with Tony loomed closer. She closed her eyes, taking deep breaths, trying to gather the strength to confront the aftermath of her actions.

The plane landed with a gentle thud, but the weight on Lily's chest felt heavier than ever. She gathered her belongings, her steps slower and more hesitant as she made her way through the airport. Each passing minute brought her closer to the inevitable encounter, the fear of the unknown bubbling within her.

Uncertainty filled her thoughts, mingled with a longing for things to go back to how they were before, for the chance to turn back time and make different choices. Yet, she knew she had to face the consequences of her actions, no matter how daunting they seemed.

The mixed emotions swirled within Lily as she exited the airport, the Californian air welcoming her back while her heart remained clouded with uncertainty. The anticipation of what awaited her at her university and with Tony weighed heavily on her, leaving her feeling trapped in a whirlwind of emotions, unable to find solace in the midst of her inner turmoil.

As Lily arrived at her flat, a sense of emptiness settled within her. The place, once vibrant with Bella's presence, now echoed with a profound absence. Lily entered the familiar space, now tinged with a melancholic ambiance. She glanced around, noting the remnants of Bella's belongings that remained as silent reminders of her absence.

Sighing deeply, Lily settled onto the couch, her mind swirling with conflicting emotions. Her thoughts flitted between Bella's disappearance and the growing distance between her and Tony. Her heart yearned for the comfort of familiarity, a time when things seemed simpler.

Her phone chimed, interrupting her reverie. It was a message from Tony, asking where she was and why she hadn't responded to his previous texts. Lily's hands trembled slightly as she typed out her response, inviting him over to talk. The anticipation clawed at her insides, uncertainty shrouding her thoughts.

Messages exchanged between them felt tense and disjointed. Lily tried to keep her replies concise, hiding the turmoil she felt within. She longed to bridge the growing distance between them, yet she feared the conversation that awaited her.

In the midst of her anxious wait, Lily couldn't help but replay the events leading up to this moment. She recalled the happiness she felt when introducing Tony to her parents, the visions of a shared future flashing before her eyes. But lately, something has shifted.

She hoped that he would introduce her also to his parents, but he kept on postponing it for various reasons.

Tony's responses had become shorter, his patience wearing thin. Lily understood her role in this, grappling with the aftermath of Bella's disappearance, leaning on Tony for support, perhaps too much. Guilt gnawed at her for burdening him with her pain, and she couldn't shake the fear that it had driven a wedge between them.

As the minutes ticked by, anticipation coiled in her chest, amplifying the tension that engulfed her. She contemplated their relationship, the memories they had built, and the uncertainty that now clouded their future.

When the doorbell finally rang, a surge of nervous energy shot through Lily's veins. She hesitated for a brief moment before answering the door. Seeing Tony's familiar face standing there, a mix of concern and frustration etched on his features, her heart sank.

"Hey," Tony greeted her, his tone tinged with a hint of apprehension.

"Hi," Lily responded softly, inviting him in with a hesitant gesture and kissing him lightly on his lips.

The atmosphere crackled with an unspoken tension as they settled into the living room. Tony's gaze was searching, probing for answers that Lily wasn't sure she could provide.

"Lily, what's been going on? You just vanished for 48 hours. No messages, no calls." Tony's voice carried a blend of worry and frustration.

Lily's throat felt dry as she tried to gather her thoughts. "I...I don't know where to start," she admitted, feeling a knot of nerves in her stomach.

A pang of guilt shot through Lily's chest. "I know, and I'm sorry. It's been a lot...with Bella and everything. I haven't been myself," she confessed, her voice trembling slightly.

Lily hesitated for a moment, taking in the suspicion in Tony's voice over the phone. "I... I went to Vegas," she admitted, her voice somewhat shaky.

"Vegas?" Tony's tone was sharp, edged with disbelief. "Why on earth did you go there? And with whom?"

"Reid Carter called me," Lily explained, feeling the weight of her own nerves as she uttered those words.

"Reid Carter?" Tony's tone escalated to outright concern. "What business do you have with him?"

Lily took a deep breath, steeling herself for Tony's jealous reaction. "He found Bella, Tony," she blurted out, her words rushing as she braced for his response.

A stunned silence lingered on the line for a moment. Then, in a tone transformed by hope and elation, Tony responded, "He found her? Are you serious?" His voice quivered with excitement.

Lily saw the broad smile on Tony's face. "Yes, Tony," she confirmed, relief washing over her despite her lingering apprehension. "He found her and took her back. It's amazing."

"That's... incredible," Tony exclaimed, his voice filled with a mix of relief and joy. "I can't believe it. Where is she now? She’s back to California?"

"She's safe," Lily confirmed. "She's back with Reid Carter."

"Reid?" Tony's voice sharpened with suspicion. "What do you mean, 'back with Reid'?"

"They got married, she finally got together for good with the father of her child" Lily said, her tone carrying a mix of satisfaction and happiness.

"Married?!" Tony's voice rose in disbelief. "Married to Reid? And... and pregnant with his child?"

Lily felt a pang of guilt at Tony's reaction but stayed composed. "Yes, Tony. That's what happened."

There was a stunned silence at the other end of the line. Tony's breath came out in short bursts, his shock transforming into something closer to anger. "How could she do this? How could she just marry him like that?"

"I don’t get you Tony, you are acting weird. She loves him," Lily tried to reason, feeling the weight of the situation. "And it's his child."

"That's... that's just crazy!" Tony's voice rose, laced with a hint of frustration. "I can't believe this."

Lily could sense his disappointment, his voice trembling with a mixture of anger and sadness. "I know it's hard to process, Tony. But this is what happened."

"Does anyone else know?" Tony questioned sharply.

"It's all over the news," Lily admitted, smiling. "Reid made a public statement announcing the marriage."

Tony fell silent, the news hitting him harder than expected. "I... I don't know what to say."

"It's been all very private, Tony," Lily explained, trying to soothe the situation. "Just a few close friends attended the ceremony."

"Friends? Who?" Tony's voice had a hint of pain in it.

"Just me and some close ones of Reid," Lily clarified. "That's why I couldn't tell you anything."

"I'm still disappointed," Tony admitted. "That you didn't give me a heads-up. You chose to hide this from me, knowing how much we searched for Bella."

"Reid asked for absolute confidentiality," Lily defended herself. "I had to respect that."

Tony nodded, though the disappointment lingered. "Do you know if Bella's coming back to California to finish her studies?"

"I don't know, Tony," Lily sighed. "She hasn't mentioned any plans yet."

Another heavy silence settled between them, both trying to process the unexpected turn of events. Tony's frustration was palpable in the room, and Lily wished she could ease his discomfort.

Lily's heart pounded in her chest as she stood in front of Tony, the weight of her secret pressing heavily on her shoulders. She had seen the disappointment in his eyes when he discovered she had hidden her trip to Vegas, and she knew that keeping another secret would only deepen the rift between them. Steeling herself, she took a deep breath and opened her mouth.

"We need to talk, Tony," Lily said, her voice barely above a whisper. She hesitated for a moment before continuing.

Tony looked at her puzzled. She could feel Tony's eyes on her, scrutinizing every move. The room seemed to close in on her as she sit on the couch, her hands trembling in her lap.

Tony crossed his arms, his gaze penetrating. "Alright, what's going on? What do we need to talk about? Aside from your secret trips to Vegas."

Lily swallowed hard, her mouth suddenly dry. She decided to cut straight to the point. "Tony, I need to confess something."

Tony's expression shifted to confusion. "Confess? Lily, what are you talking about?"

Taking another deep breath, Lily looked into Tony's eyes, her voice shaky but resolute. "When I went to Vegas, I met someone. I spent the night with him."

Tony's eyes widened with disbelief. "What?! Lily, are you serious?!"

The room seemed to spin as Lily nodded, her heart racing. "I know it's a lot to take in, and I want to be honest from the beginning. But I can’t lie to you."

Tony's face darkened, his anger building. "So, you went to Vegas and cheated on me? Is that it? Whom did you fucked?! Reid Carter?"

Lily winced at the accusation, but she knew she deserved it. "Are you mad? Reid? No! How the hell did you get this idea? Tony, it's not that simple. After the wedding ceremony, I drank a bit too much and everything happened so fast. I never meant to hurt you."

Tony's frustration erupted into anger. "Fast? What about me, Lily? Did you ever think about how this would affect me? Do I look like an idiot?"

Tears welled up in Lily's eyes as she tried to explain. "It was a mistake, and I regret it more than anything."

Tony paced back and forth, his rage boiling over. "Regret won't change what you've done, Lily. I trusted you, and you betrayed that trust. You acted like a fucking whore!"

Lily felt her heart breaking as she watched Tony's anguish. "Tony, please. I love you, and I never meant to hurt you. If you need time, I understand. I just hope we can find a way to work through this."

Tony's eyes bore into hers, a mixture of rage, pain and anger reflecting in them. "You love me? Haha, what a joke! He fucked only your cunt or also your mouth that you dared to kiss me with?”

Lily stood frozen at Tony’s reaction; she had never seen him like this before. He never addressed her in this tone and used such crude language. She felt her tears pooling in her eyes as his words cut deep.

“I don't know if I can forgive you, Lily. This changes everything. I never believed that my girlfriend was a Vegas whore. Why did you do it? My cock is not good enough for you. Or you were in heat like a bitch, and I am not giving you enough." he replied, enraged.

Lily started crying, tears streaming down her face. "Tony please. I know. I just have to be honest with you, I told you it was a mistake, I don’t even remember it."

The room fell into a heavy silence as Tony grappled with the devastating revelation. As the reality of the situation sank in, Lily couldn't help but feel a profound sense of regret and sorrow.

“Remove your clothes.” Tony told her in a dark tone.
