Lucia's POV
“How have you been?" Zayn asked once he pulled away from me. I still couldn't believe he was there.
"I've been good." I smiled at him, and he smiled back. "How's Perrie?" I asked and the color in his face drained, and so did his smile.
"Um...we...um..." he stutters.
“They broke up." Damon cut in.
What! Perrie and Zayn broke up? How
the hell did that happen? I mean they both were so in love and they both were engaged and they both trusted each other and all, yet, they broke up?
"What, How, Why?" I bombarded him.
"I'll explain it later." Zayn sighed. "Where are the kids? I want to meet them." He changed the topic, the smile on his face had returned. I smiled, letting the subject go.
"Come on."I grabbed his hand in mine, leading him inside.
"Emma! Evan! Come here." I called out to the kids. They both got up and hurried towards me. Zayn and I knelt in front of them. "Guys, meet your uncle, Zayn. He's your dad's best friend." I introduced them with a smile.
"Hello uncle Zayn." They both greeted him.
"Hello kids! Call me Zayn. The title uncle makes me feel old and I'm not old at all." He joked. "Happy birthday." He wished them and they thanked him.
"Okay, let's have lunch. I'm starving and we have to leave for the surprise." Damon said impatiently from behind us. I nodded and walked Into the kitchen with Damon while Zayn said hello to everyone.
"Still not telling me where we're going and what the surprise is?" I asked Damon once we were alone.
“Nope. And please pack two pairs of clothes, nothing fancy." He said, pulling out the wine bottle from the cabinet.
"Clothes, why?" I queried
"It's called a surprise for a reason." He rolled his eyes and I chuckled lightly.
Lunch went pretty well with all the family and friends around. I felt extremely happy. Every year, on this day, it was just me and the kids at my parents house with my sister's family and sometimes Liam would join us.
But now, with all these people around us, Damon being here for the kids is something I'd forever be thankful for. The kids were very happy also. Nothing beats their happiness. It felt good to have everyone back.
"Are you okay?" Damon asked as I packed the last piece of clothing into a duffle bag.
And I smiled at him. These days, he worries more about me than anything else. "Yes, I'm fine." I replied.
“We are leaving in thirty minutes.” He announced.
"Where are we going?" I asked even though I already knew what his answer would be. He waved his hand and walked out of the room.
It's six in the evening and everyone has already left the house. Juliette and Starvos left the house as they wanted to spend some time with my parents and do all the bonding. Zayn had to meet an old friend but he promised to come around after we had returned from wherever we were going.
The kids were unboxing the gifts they got from all the guests and I am doing the packing Damon asked me to.
"Lucy! We need to leave." Damon called from downstairs. I smiled at the nickname and packed my make-up stuff. “Lucy,” He called again.
"Coming." I replied and carried the bag down.
"Finally." Damon exhaled and collected the bag from me and handed it over to Paul. The kids were all set, with their shoes and jackets on.
"I'm ready.” I smiled at him and we all made our way out of the house. I locked the doors and put the keys into my purse and Damon led me to the car. The kids were buckled up and Damon and I sat on either side of them as Paul pulled into the traffic.
Half an hour later we arrived at the airport and Damon got out of the car.
What the hell were we doing at the airport? Paul walked to my door and opened it for me. I got down and turned to Damon.
“What are we doing at the airport?" I aired my thoughts in confusion.
"You can't wait, now can you?” He shook his head. "You will know it soon, don't worry. Let's go now." He said and the kids got out of the car. I held onto Evan's tiny hand while Damon carried Emma in his arms. He walked up to a man in black suit and the man immediately rose from his seat.
"Good evening, Mr. Walter." He greeted Damon.
"All set?" Damon inquired from him and the man nodded in the affirmative.
"Yes sir. This way please." He led us to a terminal where we went through the gates without any passports, tickets or boarding passes. But then, with Damon, we never used them. A black car arrived in front of us and Damon opened the door for us.
We all got out of the car and the man from earlier appeared again.
"Sir, you board the jet. Have a safe trip, sir and Ma’'am." He said and walked back to the car.
"Come on." Damon pulled me over. I was still clueless about what was happening. I mean, I already understood that we were going to be boarding a flight and going somewhere, but where exactly were we going?
"Babe, chill. Come on." He cajoled as if he read my thoughts. And I blushed for the hundredth time at his choice of name for me. I helped the kids up the stairs.
"I'm so excited!" Evan squeals. It wasn't his first time boarding a flight. We had gone to Huawei once and we had taken a flight then. That was the last time I guess.
"Me too." Emma agreed.
"Me too." Damon joined in. He buckled the kids in their seats and then I realized there was no one else in the plane other than us. And then, I realized that it was his private jet. All the memories rushed through my mind as I looked around.
Not much has changed, only a few things here and there. I remembered that one time when Damon and I flew in this same jet over to New York to meet my parents for Christmas Eve. I blushed slightly as I recalled that we made love in the bedroom.
"Done going down memory lane?" Damon asked. I turned towards him. How can he know me so well? How did he know what I was thinking? "I'm thinking about it too." He smiled. "Come on, let's take our seats.” He placed his hand on my lower back, sending shivers down my spine.
After a couple of hours or so, Damon woke me up from my slumber and asked me to buckle up as we were landing. I did as I was told.
The kids were awake too, and all buckled up. I sighed heavily. I've always hated landing periods. It scares the shit out of me. I feel Damon take my hand in his and give it a light squeeze.
"You'd be fine." He smiled at me, and I nodded. He remembered, of course he should remember. I smiled lightly and looked at the kids who were smiling and talking about a guy in their school. I was so involved in admiring the kids, I didn't feel the plane landing. But then, the words said by the pilot or the attendant makes my heart stop.
"Welcome to Paris. Have a pleasant stay.” I heard the voice and I looked at Damon who was smiling widely at me.
