I walked for three full days to reach Peak Mountain. My packed meals were only a piece of bread and a bottle of water left. Yet, I was determined to meet Ruby.
However, my mind was full of Cathy, Ruby’s sister, during those three days. Maybe it was my guilt that reminded me of her. Strange, I didn’t think of Cathy for so long, but today my mind was full of her. I sighed. Maybe it was the place or my awakened conscience.
I met Cathy eleven years ago. I was twenty at that time, while Cathy was eighteen. As a new Alpha, I had never met any woman who refused me until I met Cathy. She was a sweet girl, and she liked me too. Knowing my reputation as a playboy, Cathy decided to play hard to get with me. At first, I didn’t realize her trick. So, I chased her and intended to get her. Having a she-wolf who wasn’t interested in me was refreshing. So, I considered it a challenge.
After three months, Cathy might think I had been interested in her. So, she lowered her guard, even giving her attention to me. Later, I knew that Cathy was only playing hard to get. However, I didn’t realize it was only the beginning. Since Cathy had been in love with me eventually, she cared for me. It was no longer a game for her.
However, I didn’t know it. I was upset that Cathy played me, and I wanted to give her a lesson. So, I pretended to treat her sweetly. Later, Cathy might think I had changed and fallen for her.
She came alone when I invited her to my pack, the Death Wing pack. There was a party at that time. So, we danced and enjoyed dinner.
Finally, late at night, I said, “Do you want to see my room?” It was clear what my intention was.
Since Cathy was in love with me, she agreed. We walked to my room. Then I started kissing her. Cathy kissed me back. Later, the rest was as predicted. We spent the night together. Cathy lost her virginity that night.
However, the disaster happened in the morning. I awoke to see Cathy staring at me with a tender look. Since I didn’t want to prolong it, I said, “It’s the end of the game.”
“W-what do you mean?” Her face was pale, and her eyes showed a great shock.
“You want a game? Great! I gave you one. We enjoyed it last night, and that’s it.”
Cathy shook her head. “No! It’s not a game for me. I truly love you.”
“Really? I don’t believe you.”
“I do! At first, I admit that I only want to conquer you as you have a reputation with women. However, after a while, I truly fall for you.”
“Sorry, but I don’t.” My words were like a sharp knife stabbed into her fragile heart.
Cathy sobbed, but it didn’t move me.
Instead, I took a shower and wore my clothes. Afterward, I said, “It’s up to you if you want to cry all day long. But there’s nothing between us. So, the sooner you get it, the better.” Then I left her.
I broke her heart since I was her first love. Later, Cathy left the pack. However, the disaster continued. She found out that she was pregnant. Since Cathy didn’t let me know, she tried to abort her baby, which caused her death. I only knew it after Ruby confronted me.
Though I didn’t know about Cathy’s pregnancy, I admitted my wrongdoing. Later, Ruby cursed me that whomever I loved and got laid with would be dead the next day. That was why I couldn’t mate Helena. It was also why I searched for Ruby: to break the curse.

It was Saturday already at 4 p.m. I was worried since Ethan didn’t contact me for a while. I missed him a lot. Although he chatted with me yesterday, he couldn’t talk a lot. He told me that he would go home as soon as possible.
I wanted to say many things. However, Ethan’s voice sounded tired and a bit distant. So, I only said I loved him and wished to see him soon. Ethan said the same, and that was all.
That was why I couldn’t sleep well. Moreover, the waiting was terrible for me since the more time passed, the more I was agitated.
Stacy observed my changed behavior and asked, “Hey, what’s up? You didn’t seem like your usual self lately.”
“It’s about Ethan.”
“Oh, what about him?”
“He is on a business trip, but I can’t reach him. I wonder if he’s okay.” I bit my lower lip. “The last time we talked, it wasn’t for a long time either. He sounded exhausted and lost. I wanted to hug him and tell him that it’ll be alright.”
Stacy patted my hand. “You must be patient. Let him do what he should do. Once he has finished, he surely will go home.”
“It’s what he said too.” I let out a long sigh. My mind couldn’t be relaxed, knowing Ethan was far away from me.
“So, it’s all good, right?”
I let out a sigh. “I don’t know. Maybe it’s only my insecurity talking. Well, who knows if Ethan is meeting with another woman.”
“Hush! Why should he do that?”
“I don’t know. Maybe it’s just my anxious mind.” Well, too many negative thoughts swirled in my mind recently. Being far away from Ethan affected me so badly. Maybe I missed him a lot.
“You must calm yourself. Then, later, all will be okay.”
I nodded. “You’re right. Thanks, Stacy.” Then I remembered about Red. “Enough about me. So, is there anything between Red and you?”
Stacy smiled, then blushed. “Oh, it’s too early to say something is going on between us. But well, I feel something for him, and I don’t think the feelings are one-sided.”
“It’s good then.”
“I don’t know.” Stacy shrugged. “As I said, it’s still too early. Let’s see later. I will have a date tonight with him, though.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, he will pick me up here, then we will go somewhere. He didn’t want to tell the location yet. He said it’s a surprise.”
I nodded. “Good luck!”
“Thanks!”
