~ Helena ~
A maid came to help me take a bath and prepare my dress for dinner. After taking a bath and wearing the evening dress, the maid placed a diamond necklace and earrings on me. She arranged my hair in an elegant bun too.
“Thank you.”
She smiled, curtsied, then left the room. I wondered if all billionaires lived like this: having a maid and head servant to tend to their personal needs, dressing up for dinner, presenting the best even in the private circle.
Fortunately, Ethan wasn’t so uptight like that. Oh, how I missed him! Oh, right, I should contact him. Then I touched my neck. ‘Ethan, where are you?’ I waited for him to answer, but nothing. What happened? Is the castle too far to reach him? Maybe it was the reason. “Ethan ….”
I took a deep breath since I wanted to cry again. The longing was unbearable, knowing that I was alone now and no one could help me. Victoria’s words, could I trust her? What if it was only a trap? I would place mom Freya in danger. I hadn’t heard from my mother either.
But then the maid came with a phone in her hand. She handed over the phone to me. “For you, Miss Helena.”
Then the phone rang. When I held the phone, it was my phone, and my mom called me.
“Mom?”
“Helena, I have arrived at home. Are you okay? Will Lord Constantine release you soon?”
“I don’t know, mom, but I’m okay here. Please contact Ethan soon.”
“Yes, Ethan will save you!”
“Yes, mom.” I wanted to talk more, but the maid nodded at me.
“Miss Helena, the phone, please?”
“I need to end the call, mom. I love you.”
“I love you too, sweetheart.”
I took a deep breath, and then I nodded at the maid. “Thank you.” I handed over my phone back to her.
“Thank you, miss. I am sorry, but I only do what his lordship asked me.” She curtsied and then left the room.
I wanted to weep, but then crying wouldn’t change anything. So I took a deep breath and thought, what should I do? But before I could do anything, Constantine was already in my room.
I frowned since he didn’t open the door. How could he enter my room?
“Curious?”
I nodded.
“Our rooms are connected through a connecting door.” Then he grinned. “The lock is on my side. So I can enter your room anytime I want to.”
“No, you can’t! Victoria will be mad at you.”
“Victoria?” Constantine laughed out loud. “She agreed with my plan to make you my wife.”
“What?! But she loves you!”
“So what?”
“You have promised her to marry her.”
“It is normal for noblemen to have more than a wife. Also, Victoria didn’t mind my plan to marry you.”
“She may expect your child right now. Doesn’t it change something?”
“It is good since I need an heir. But if you are pregnant later, our child will be the heir instead of my child with Victoria.”
I wrinkled my forehead. “Why do you do that?”
“I will let you know something after dinner. Now, shall we go to the dining room, my darling?”
Constantine offered his arm to me. I held his arm, and then we walked there. When we arrived, the footmen bowed and helped us to sit. Water and red wine were already served. Then silver plates were on the tables. Next, the footmen carried two appetizers, the crab with asparagus and corn soup.
We ate in silence since it was a long table. Constantine sat on the head side of the table while I was in front of him. It was hard to talk with each other because of the long space between him and me.
The crab with asparagus was superb. I enjoyed it immensely. The corn soup was okay, nothing to complain about, but I liked the crab more.
Then the footmen came with the main course: roast chicken with honey glaze. When I cut it, the chicken was tender, and it melted in my mouth. Wow, the chef was brilliant!
After we finished the chicken, the footmen came with coffee for Constantine and chocolate pudding for me. It was delicious too. I finished it fast.
“Enjoyed your dinner?”
“Yes, thank you.”
“Do you want more desserts?”
I shook my head. “No, I’m full already.”
“Let’s talk in the private room, shall we?” He stood.
The footmen immediately pulled our chairs, and I walked to the living room with Constantine. It was a luxurious living room with a gold-plated table and furniture, but I was uncomfortable being there. So later, we sat on the black couch side by side.
“So, what do you want to tell me?”
“You may be curious why I want to marry you.”
“Yes, indeed. Why?”
“Because you inherit Mia’s power, my dear.”
I shook my head. “You must be wrong. I have no power.”
“I have researched Mia and you for a long time, and I am sure you have it.” Constantine grinned. “Maybe it is still hidden, waiting to be unleashed.” He raised his eyebrow and smiled smugly. “I know for sure how to release your power.”
“How?”
Then Constantine pulled my hand until my body was hauled to his chest. He circled my waist with an arm and held my jaw with another. “By making love to you.”
“No! You lie!”
“I won’t lie to you. When you make love with a man for the first time, you will release the power to strengthen the man. The power is so potent. It can even break the curse.”
I gasped when I heard that. Then was it true that I was the witch that Ruby meant? Was I the one intended for Ethan? My heart sang to consider it, but I lost my caution.
Constantine kissed my lips, and his hand touched my thigh. I pushed him, but he was stronger than me.
“Let me go!”
“No! I have given you time to adjust. It is time to accept the fact that you will be mine. We will enjoy ourselves. But then, the living room may not be the best place to do it for the first time.” He carried me on his shoulder.
“Let me go! Somebody, please help me!”
“It is useless for you to scream for help. You will only embarrass yourself. No one will help you. You will be mine tonight, Helena.”
