Chapter Leaving each other breathless

Scarlett

“I…I don’t want this. I want you,” he uttered with affection in his eyes.

I wished he would have worn a shirt but his chest was covered with the white bandages to protect his wound from any infection. Yanking his neck, I pulled his mouth closer to me and stood on my toes to kiss him. Fu-k my short height!

Caressing his back with my hands, I plunged my tongue into his mouth and deepened the kiss. He bent down so I wouldn’t have to lift my feet to reach his lips, it made me smile between our kiss.

We broke our kiss when we both were panting hard, leaving each other breathless. I held his face in mine and peeked into his chocolaty eyes. “You don’t need to explain anything, our memories have been swapped and I have felt your pain, too. I know that you love me and I…I love you, too.”

Finally, I said those words to him and the burden on my chest reduced. It felt amazing when he said those words to me. I should make him feel that, too. He deserved to know that I loved him no matter what.

I was feeling relieved after saying those words to him, I stopped myself from saying it because of his marriage but I couldn’t make my stupid heart understand that I shouldn’t have feelings for a man who was going to marry someone else.

“Your heart isn’t stupid, it’s crazy like mine. I controlled myself from falling for you, from staying away from you but could I?” He stared back into my blue orbs. “Don’t suppress your feelings. It’ll only make you feel suffocated until you express them. I have been there.”

Suppressing my lips, I facepalmed myself innerly. I forgot to put the barrier again and he read my thoughts. I was feeling too embarrassed to say anything so I embraced silence and put the barrier.

“I want to hear those words again from her. She really loves me despite my situation. What have I done to get this lucky to have her in my life?” This time, I read his thoughts and felt too delighted to hear that.

“I love you, Klaus Nelson and I don’t care about the society or the fuc-ing Alpha King or anyone else. I love you, that’s it. I can’t unlove you, I can’t share you with someone else. I have marked you mine already,” mustering the courage, I uttered with grace and sincerity. “I love you but I won’t tolerate infidelity at all.”

He started chuckling, pushing his head back and laughing loudly. “How could you even imagine that I’ll ever do that? I don’t even look at any girl, it’s you. It’s have been always you, my mate.”

“Who was that guy who was flirting with Chloe and the other girls while training? Do you remember him?” I frowned, crossing my arms.

“Let’s forget that stupid guy, he was just messing with you,” he shrugged and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Okay, well. On a serious note, I need to tell you something,” he began, making me nod at him in understanding.

“I’ll have to marry Amber, it’s inevitable,” he mumbled with pain in his voice. “It’s all about the pride and keeping word so once I’ll get married to her, the word will be kept and I’ll be free to do after whatever I want to do. We’re werewolves, marriage and divorce are not our things. For us, the marks matter and we already have marked each other so there is no doubt about us being together. I’ll talk to Amber and she’ll go back to her house after signing the formal divorce papers. I’ll have everything prepared and nothing will stop us from being with each other then.”

The way her name rolled off his tongue, I couldn’t help but feel jealous. What if she didn’t have any mate and fell for my mate? I knew that I was being insecure but how couldn’t I when my mate was going to get married to someone else though it was a forced marriage?!

“I…um, I don’t know how to react to this, Klaus. I can’t help but feel dejected. Put yourself in my place and imagine me marrying me with someone-”

“Please, don’t say that.” His finger pressed against my lips and his eyes narrowed with the painful emotion in them.

“If you can’t even imagine me with someone else, how can you expect me to accept this so easily? No matter what I choose, I get hurt either way but I’ll choose to stay and give us a chance,” I murmured and fought against the tears that threatened to fall.

My heart sank at just the thought of seeing him with someone else though I knew that his heart belonged to me.

“We’re in this together, yeah?”

“Yeah.” I nodded.

I knew that being together wouldn’t be that easy. We’ll have to go through a lot but it would be worth it in the end because I’ll fight for the person to whom my heart belonged.

“Tomorrow, I’ll get married and in the evening, the Alpha ceremony would be done. After that, I won’t need to follow anyone’s orders. If the Alpha Harold would cause any trouble, I’ll challenge him for the duel,” he added, evaluating all the possibilities.

Alpha Harold wouldn’t agree that easily for sure so we had to be prepared for every possible circumstance. The duel shouldn’t take place in the first place, it’ll ruin everything.

“You should rest, now. The groom should look handsome,” I said, offering a sad smile.

He held my hands and stroked my palms before kissing them gently. “I couldn’t care less. I just want you with me, that’s it. I know you like this handsome hunk,” he emphasized the handsome hunk words and pointed to his chest, “and you’re staring at this chest and abs for the past an hour. Must be your favorite scenario to stare at.” A playful smirk appeared on his face and I rolled my eyes.

“Oh, you wish. I have seen better,” I waved him off and smirked.

“We both know the truth. You have just seen the best, thank me later for that,” he proclaimed, sending a wink my way.

Sticking my tongue out at him, I mouthed whatever. “Enough, now. You really should rest, I’ll ask Layla to send the dinner for you.”

“Wait, stop.” He caught my wrist when I stepped towards the door to leave. “You have lost a huge amount of blood because of me. You should rest here, beside me,” he pointed his finger to his bed. “I’ll recover soon if you stay.”

“I guess you need to talk to your family and my parents…they…they have come back to…” I sought the words.

“To what? Take you back?” He asked, his eyes widened in fear.

“I don’t know. Before I could talk to them about everything, I had to leave to find my stupid mate covered in blood,” complaining, I scrutinized my gaze at him.

“Even if they want to take you back, I’m not letting you leave,” he uttered sternly, folding his hands and climbing onto his bed.

“I will do what I want to do, no one can control my life. Not even you,” I said, reminding him that his Alpha attitude was futile for me. “But I won’t leave because I don’t want to. Not because you want me not to leave.”

His lips twitched into a small smile and I immediately walked out of his room before he could force me to stay with him tonight. Layla was sitting with Jenna and Marcus, waiting for me to come out.

Jenna and Marcus smiled at me and asked about how I was feeling, then. After a small chat with them, I left with Layla to Aunt Rachel's house, and to my surprise, Jenna left for her room and Marcus went into Klaus’s room.

There was something amiss between Jenna and Klaus for sure.

“Scarlett. I’m so sorry for keeping you in the dark for so long but it was me who had asked your parents to behave like that and send you away from the house where Rhea’s memories were swallowing your being. You didn't come out of your room after her death for a week which caused us to be worried and we had to do something to make you come out of depression,” Layla began explaining whilst we strolled towards Rachel’s house.

“It was a long day, wasn’t it?” I said with a grimace on my face. “Let’s talk about this some other day and please, ask my parents to leave. I don’t have any energy left to deal with anything. I respect your decision but currently, I need my solitude. You can’t come back suddenly after making me believe that you hated me.”

I was struggling with digesting the fact that my mate was going to marry someone else tomorrow and I pretended well in front of him to be cool with it but I wasn’t.
