The sun was beginning to set now and the air here was getting cold, it blew harsh and hard, carrying the sound of lapping water with it as it blew.
“Wayne.” Keith had called out to the man in his subconscious, knowing that only he and Wayne would be able to hear him. He sensed the man’s fear and a smile crept up to his lips. He gave only one command as he knew that was all he needed to say. “Freeze.”
“I sense him.” Keith said in a low growl, opened his eyes and sniffed the air once.
“We will go get him for you, just tell us where you sense him.” Mark offered.
“No,” Keith declined as he walked ahead of them. “This one is mine.”
Wayne stood paralyzed to where he stood, the fear that had gripped him after he had heard Keith’s voice in his subconscious has cause his heart to constrict and his body froze, obeying the Alpha’s command. He watched as the man and his subordinates came into his line of view, emerging from the narrow pass behind the building where they had held their meeting.
“You’re the man I see always around Donna.” Keith said as he approached the man, holding a hand back for Mark and the rest to stop following and just stand aside.
Wayne could not move, not even to nod or shake his head, he could only dart his eyeballs.
“Release.” Keith said and that was when Wayne’s body relaxed.
“You’re the man who is always around Donna.” Keith repeated to which Wayne nodded his head. “And you are a rouge, so you should have known me.”
“I never did… actually me… meet you.” he stammered. Goose bumps formed on his skin and he knew it was not because of the chills in the air.
“I do not trust you around my secretary, Wayne.” Keith was seemingly calm. “What is your aim?”
“I…” the man began but Keith was quick to cut him off with a warning.
“And do not lie to me Wayne, if I use the Alpha’s call on you and find out that you are lying, only pieces of you will be cleaned off here by the birds.”
Wayne swallowed hard. He knew Keith was not bluffing, the man was just as intimidating as his words and he trusted that they were not just mere threats.
“Hunter wanted me to get close to her, he had set it up to line with Laura’s attack under Maxwell’s advise.”
Keith rushed him then, his hands shot out and his fingers wrapped around the mans neck tightly as his claws extended, tearing slightly into his flesh. He snapped his fangs as Wayne who was now trying to pry his hands away from his neck.
“You dare to play with what is mine, Wayne?”
“No!” the man choked and pleaded. “The aim was to get to you!”
Keith frowned and narrowed his eyes at him. “Get to me… using her?”
“To get some vital information of the company Hunter could use against you to bring it down.”
Keith let out a snarl, pulling the man closer to himself like he wanted to bit off his head.
“Please!” Wayne begged. “That is all I know! That is all I was told to do!”
Keith gritted his teeth and reluctantly let go of his neck, retracting his fangs and claws as he took a couple of steps back away from Wayne.
“You will end whatever it is you have with Donna-”
“Consider it done.” Waybe said, interrupting Keith before he could finish speaking. Keith shot him a stare and flexed a palm, extending his claws again. Wayne fidgeted and went mute instantly.
“End what ever nonsense you have going on with her,” he continued, not for once taking his eyes of the scared man. “And disappear from this city. You have until noon tomorrow or I will track you down myself and end your life.”
Wayne nodded his head in understanding and watched as Keith turned and walked away from him, walking back to where Mark and the other two stood.when they saw that Keith was done with him, they approached the man, taking slow intimidating steps towards him, baring their claws and fangs, frightening the man to run away.
Keith stood away from them and dug his hands into his pockets as he felt his phone ring and vibrate. He pulled it out and looked at the caller ID, the number was unknown. He sighed and slid on the receiver button.
“Mr. Preston?” the person on the other end of the line said. It was a female’s voice.
“That is me.”
“There is a Miss Donna Brooks currently at the station, arrested for running through traffic light, evading and resisting arrest-”
“I’m sorry, did you say Donna Brooks?” he had to be sure because he could not believe that she would be arrested for-
He paused in his thoughts, remembering how she had sped out of the premises and the bloodied pictures of her daughter that had been delivered to her before then. Okay, maybe she had been guilty of the charges.
“Yes, Miss Donna Brooks. We could only reach you as you seem to be on her list of frequently contacted numbers.”
He sighed. “I will be there in five.” he said and hung up.
“Boys.” he turned around and called their attention, he maintained the frown on his face.
“Yes Alpha.”
“Get back to the building and tidy up the mess in there.” He ordered, nodding his head in the direction of the building. “Sweep the nearby area for more rouges, and this time you have my permission to see to it that they leave the city using whatever means necessary.”
“Alright!” Mark said happily and slapped his palms together, sharing a look with the other guys who looked just as happy as he was on hearing what Keith had said.
“And you Alpha?” Shelby asked.
Keith looked down at his phone briefly before he lifted his head back up to answer. “There is somewhere I need to be at.”
