Chapter Talk

Donna stood in the living room frustrated and angry at Keith's attitude. She watched as he walked away from her and headed up the stairs, visibly stomping all the way up. Donna let our a short quick breath, fell into a chair, put her face in her hands and begun to sob.

"Donna?" He mother called to her. She came to sit down beside hey daughter and patted her gently on her back, "What happened? What's wrong?"

"It's Jeremy, mum," she replied to her mother, still sobbing, "He's found out."

"What did he find out?"

Donna lifted her head and sniffed, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. She turned her head to face her mother, "He's found out about Alix."

Betty looked alarmed, "How did that happen?"

Donna sniffed and looked away, "The day Alix was kidnapped, I had gone to the Xiu's residence to confront Cheryl because she's the only one that knows of Alix, and I threatened her that I would tell Jeremy about his daughter if she ever tried to hurt Alix again. I didn't know he was in the room mum," she began to sob again, "He heard everything!"

Betty was still confused, "Okay, but that still doesn't explain what just happened. What's with your boss?"

"Jeremy came to the office demanding to see his daughter, Keith got upset and has been ignoring me," she explained.

"Why would he get upset?"

"Because he didn't know mum," she said and fell into her mother's chest, "I never told him who Alix's father was and it's just terrible the way he found out. I've hurt his trust mum, I told him Alix didn't have a father."

Betty sighed and patted her daughter, "What's the relationship between Keith and Jeremy though?"

Donna sniffed and sat up, wiping her tears, "They are rivals in business, they never get along well."

"Oh, I think I can understand why he's upset," Betty said, "But why didn't you tell him?"

"Because I didn't want anybody knowing! You know this mum!"

"Okay, okay, calm down," Betty rose both hands in the air in surrender, "What will you do about Jeremy then? Will you let him see Alix?"

"Never!" Donna was quick to answer, "He doesn't deserve her! He doesn't deserve any child! I may be a bad mum for keeping Alix away from her father but it is what I have to do.”

"But you know, now that he's found out, he'll keep coming back for her."

Donna sniffed, "I'll never let him have her. I will never let him take her away from me."

"That's alright," she patted Donna's back, "Now you'll have to patch things up with your boss..."

Donna's face fell and she looked at her fingers, "He doesn't even want to look at me, how am I going to talk to him?"

"I don't know," came her mother's reply, "But you've known him for years now, don't allow this... thing, ruin your relationship. Talk to him Donnie."

Donna sniffed and looked at her mother who nodded and gave her a reassuring smile. Donna hesitated, she wasn't sure if she would be able to face Keith right now or if he would listen to her, but she knew her mother was right; she shouldn't let this ruin their relationship. She had to talk to him.

Keith walked into his room calmly, but his heart was about to burst and his head kept ringing. It seemed that everything was tied in a loop, bound by fate to keep on repeating itself over and over again.

Donna. Jeremy. Cheryl. And himself.

He groaned as he took his suit off his body and tossed it on the bed. He walked towards the window as he began to undo the buttons on his shirt, deep in thoughts, how was it that Jeremy Xiu just happened to be the father of Donna's child? It didn't really make sense to him.

No. He didn't want it to make sense at all. And what a way for him to find out, and it seemed like Jeremy himself had only recently just found out. He groaned.

He had suspected that something had been going on between Donna and Jeremy, first when he had come to the company to look for her a couple of days after the Ribbon Palace incidence with Cheryl. It had been obvious that the two were not strangers, but to find out that they had been lovers... wow!

"What are you hiding Donnie," he asked rhetorically and let out a long breath.

A light knock came to his door and he turned away from the window. He knew who it was behind the door because he had already scented her. He frowned.

"Come."

Donna eased the door open and stepped in cautiously, shutting the door quietly behind her. Keith stood by the window at the far corner of the room. He had one hand in his pockets and the other was scrolling away on his phone. Donna cleared her throat and walked further into the room, away from the door.

"Yes Donna?" He asked rather impatiently when he noticed she was beginning to approach him. Right now, he didn't want her near him.

Donna stopped in her tracks. She clasped her hand together before speaking, "Keith, can we talk?"

Keith didn't look at her, it seemed what he was doing on his phone was much more important than what she had to say, "What do you want to talk about?"

Donna hesitated. She turned away from him and walked closer to the bed, "About what happened in the office earlier in the morning."

He lifted his head up now and looked at her with a tight frown on his face, "Okay, and what happened in the office?"

Donna groaned and turned to face him. She stood by the bed now, holding on to the post, "You know what I'm talking about Keith."

Keith tossed his phone on the dresser, shoved both hands into his pockets and have Donna his full attention, "No I don't. Get straight to the point Donna."

Donna let out a long breath and sat on the bed. She couldn't look at Keith and she didn't know where to start from to talk to him, but she know she had to.
