Deanara’s POV
“I thought we were already leaving.” I looked around the roofdeck where Gray told me to go because the copter was already ready for us to leave.
Instead of seeing a copter, there was a table in the center. I think I am right to assume he prepared a candle light dinner with me. I did my best to hide the butterflies in my stomach. It’s really difficult, especially because every move of Gray makes me crazy, but I have to hide it. He cannot know about my feelings. I don’t want to get hurt again.
“I’d like to have dinner with you first.” He said, smiling ear to ear, while his hands were in his pocket.
Gray is really handsome. I was stunned as I looked at him. I immediately looked down when I realized I was staring too much and he might have noticed it. Although, I am sure he already knows that I am staring at him.
“It’s beautiful, right.”
I blushed and I hate myself for blushing because Gray laughed and even teased me by saying.
“I am pertaining to the sunset behind me…” He turned his back and looked at the sunset. “Although, you are really beautiful.” He whispered enough for me to hear.
“Just call me if we are already leaving.” I said. I couldn’t breathe and he was killing me with his stare. How am I able to survive? I need to act and pretend that whatever he is doing isn’t affecting me yet it is clearly affecting me. Damn! I should have taken a degree in acting.
“Can you watch the sunrise with me?” He pleaded and for a moment I thought of running towards him to hug him. Of course, I couldn’t do it.
“That’s the least thing you can do after hurting me.”
Now, he’s making me guilty. Is he really going to continue this? I don’t know if he is acting or not. Damn! I should not fall again. How could I fall if I am still falling for him each day.
“Did you prepare food?” I asked as I sat down at the table that he prepared.
There was a strawberry cake in the middle and I somehow remembered the day we celebrated our monthsary. I opened the stainless cover and it revealed to me his specialty, Paella. I missed this. I never eat Paella again the same way after we broke up as it always reminded me of him.
“Yeah.”
He sat in front of me while I stared at the food as he was staring at me. I couldn’t move from my seat. It was awkward as I felt like melting with his stare.
“Then, let’s eat so we can go now.” I grabbed the spoon as he grabbed it too so our hands felt the caress of each other. I was the one who let go.
“Uhm...you can go ahead.”
I looked at the sunset. I never liked it. I mean, I don’t hate it, either. It’s just that I am more fond of the sunrise than the sunset.
“You can eat.” He said after serving me food.
I nodded and started eating, trying to avoid his gaze.
“Stop staring at me.” I said.
I heard him chuckle as he relaxed his back on the chair.
“You’re still cute when you are blushing.”
“Who told you I am blushing? It’s the heat of the sun.”
“Okay…” He simply replied and continued to eat his food, with a smile on his face because he knows he won this scene. He knew he was able to give butterflies in the stomach which is kinda unfair because I always felt that whenever he is here with me. I hate that I still love him until now.
I stopped eating and watched him finish his food until he realized that I was staring at him.
“Are you now falling in love with me?” He grinned.
“Why?” I asked. “Why are you doing this to me?”
“I am not doing anything.” He acted innocent as he chewed his food.
“Do you really mean it?”
“What?”
“Did you mean it when you say that you are going to make me fall for you?” I directly asked.
He nodded without hesitation.
“Why?”
“What do you mean why?”
“What’s your reason why you want me to fall in love with you?” I said, hoping that I would be happy with his answer though it was clear to me what he wanted when he said the words.
“To make my brother feel the same way he made me feel.”
I smiled a bit. So, he was after revenge. He wanted his brother to feel it. If only he knows what Ethan has been through with Vivian. Ugh! I hate that girl. She ruined everything. I hope she is happy after what she has done with us.
“Where’s Vivian?”
He raised his brow. “Why are you asking me that? You should ask my brother.”
I sighed. “Nevermind.”
I stood up. “I am done eating. I’ll go to the comfort room and please just call me if we are really going --”
“What if I call you to just spend my time with you. Would you go?”
I shook my head. “Don’t waste my time, Mr. Elizalde. I’ll go and see my boyfriend.”
I am not sure if it hurt that crossed his eyes when I said that. Nevertheless, I left him.
I was able to finish some of the paperworks and plans before Gray called me. This time, it’s real. I already saw the copter in the roofdeck when I opened the door. I didn’t believe him at first that is why I left my luggage.
“Wait!” I stopped him. The pilot of the copter went down the copter waiting for Gray’s instruction. “I left my things. I will just-- Ethan!”
“Hey, hon!” Ethan waved and I ran towards him because I couldn’t hear his voice due to the copter’s engine.
Ethan hugged me. He’s really like this scene to tease his brother as he kissed the top of my head.
“Take care, okay. Call me and let me know.”
I nodded. I know Gray was staring at us so I leaned closer to Ethan and pretended to kiss him. From Gray’s angle, it could be seen that we did really kiss. Ethan just chuckled and give me my luggage.
“Don’t let him steal you from me,” he joked.
I laughed and my smile hadn’t left my lips when I approached Gray. He was already pissed as he wrinkled his brow.
“Let’s go!” He said as he rode the copter.
He wasn’t even gentlemen enough to help me get inside, it was the pilot who guided me. Well, I won this scene because he is pissed. Huh!
“Have a nice flight, Capt.” The pilot said and bowed down as he closed the door.
I fixed my seatbelt and the headset while Gray was already checking the engine. I don’t know what you call it but he was pressing something and I ignored him. Although, from my peripheral vision, I could see how cool he is. Damn! I almost forgot that he could fly a plane. If this is a different situation, like if we are still a couple, I would probably pick up my phone and take a selfie with my handsome caption. Although, now, the things inside my mind were only imagination.
There was deafening silence between us as we started to fly above the clouds. It didn’t bother me as I really enjoyed the clouds and the stars above the sky. Wow! It felt like heaven. It’s not my first time to fly in a copter but I could feel like it’s a first time, especially since Gray was piloting the copter.
After an hour, we already landed at the roofdeck of the hotel where we are going to stay. The team already arrived ahead of us to contact the laborers. They held the groundbreaking ceremony today. Gray told me it was okay to miss it so it didn’t bother coming. What I am looking forward to is finishing the contract and finally leaving him.
“Aren’t we going to stay on the island?” I asked him.
“No.” He said. “We cannot stay on the island. Have you forgotten what we are gonna do here?”
Oh. Yeah. I almost forgot. Sad. I was hoping we would stay at the island but then I remembered that we will be crossing three islands from time to time since the project is simultaneously held. We have different teams that will be staying to oversee the place and since we are the project manager we need to visit each island every week. Well, at least, I get to visit different islands.
“We are going to stay at the hotel until the contract ends.”
He told me as we walked towards the lobby. He showed his identification card to the receptionist who looked at her computer.
“Sir, are you together?” The receptionist asked.
“Yes,” he nodded. “Although, I asked my secretary to reserve two rooms.”
“Oh. I am so sorry, Sir. But, there is only one room.”
“What? One room?” I raised an eyebrow and glared at Gray. “Is this your plan?”
“No!” He denied. “I asked my secretary to --”
“Yes, Sir.” The receptionist said. “I remembered she wanted to reserve two rooms but we are already full and she told us that she’ll be getting one room. Didn’t she tell you?”
Gray shook his head and I know that he also didn’t expect this situation.
“Are you sure there aren't any available rooms?”
She nodded. “We’re in peak season, Ma’am.”
“How about other hotels?” I turned to Gray as he started dialing on his phone.
“The nearby hotels are already fully-booked. I am not sure about the others although they are far from the city.”
“That’s a hassle,” Gray said. “And, this is the best hotel to accomodate us.”
“There’s only one room!” I protested.
“The company already paid for our stay here so we cannot just waive it,” he answered, still looking at his phone. I don’t know what he is doing.
“I think it would only last for a month or two, Ma’am,” The receptionist said. “I believe, there will be vacant rooms after that. Aren’t you a couple?”
“No!” I said and Gray paused.
He clicked his tongue and grinned at me before hiding his phone.
“Yeah. We'll take it.” He grabbed the key and started running towards the elevator.
“What?” I complained and stopped him. “Are you serious? We cannot be in one together.”
“Why not? We are not going to do anything unless you want to do something with me.” He teased me and laughed.
“You are not funny.”
“I am not trying to make you laugh.”
“Did you plan this?”
He shrugged. “I didn’t. It’s serendipity.” He teased me again.
I rolled my eyes. “I can’t be with you in one room.”
“Don’t worry, Ethan’s not gonna know.”
I bit my lower lip in frustration. I really hate him. Ugh! I cannot be with him in one room because I don’t know what will happen knowing that we are going to be together for months. He gotta be kidding me! What the hell is happening?
“Find another hotel,” I pleaded. “Do you know the owner of this hotel?”
He nodded.
“Then, buy a room for me!” I demanded. “You were able to buy me a machine at Times World and you even bought me a branch of a bookstore. Now, buy me a room in this hotel or buy this hotel.”
He moved his head sideways as he gently brushed my hair as if I were a dog.
“Why would I buy this hotel for you when you’re not my girlfriend?”
Ugh! He is enjoying this!
