“What do you mean by heat?” Kendra asked, an amalgamation of fear and confusion in her pain-filled eyes. “Heat as in the very one full wolves experience? But that is impossible.” Kendra knew how the whole heat thing worked for complete wolves. It always fascinated her to no end, but werewolves didn’t get that. There had never been a recording of such a case anywhere in werewolf folklore or in any books.
“Well I’m not completely ruling it out.” Aiyisha answered as she wiped sweat of Kendra’s face with a cool, wet piece of cloth she had retrieved from her bathing chambers. “I really don’t know why you’d find that surprising though, especially when prior to you two, we haven’t had any records of werewolves being blessed with the mate bond.”
Aiyisha had a point there.
Another bout of pain hurtled through the female beta, this time accompanied by an even stronger urge to puke. Thankfully, Aiyisha was perceptive enough to notice and provide a bucket right before Kendra retched her guts out. Kendra groaned in pain and tiredness and smiled weakly— wanly in appreciation. “Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me just yet, Kendra… it’s going to get even worse if we’re right and it is what we think it is.”
“B-but why?”
“A complete wolf’s heat period lasts for three days if she doesn’t mate. I’m guessing the same thing would apply to you too.” Came the blonde woman’s answer.
Kendra clenched her eyes in pain. She was too overwhelmed to even think! What was all this? “So what are you trying to say?”
“You need to have sex, Kendra.”
Another bout of pain and a whole batch of puke later, and Kendra was staring at the lady who was kind of her rival in exhaustion and wariness, her earlier statement long forgotten. “Why are you helping me?” She asked tiredly. The other she wolf did not say a word, choosing instead to collect the little bucket that was almost full of barf. She left the room for a moment, and then returned a few minutes later with the bucket empty. “Why am I helping you?” She repeated the question. “I guess it’s just a way of making amends for everything I have done.”
Before Kendra could give a reply of any sort, they both heard it, loud and clear…
A primal, angry howl.
Killian.
“I’ll be back.” Aiyisha shot her a worried look, everything about her countenance suddenly urgent. “We can’t let him get to you like this, he needs to calm down first or his wolf will try to take you by force.”
Fear gripped Kendra’s throat at the words, but she couldn’t say a thing, numb with pain and dizziness. She watched through hooded eyes as the she wolf who had been a tremendous help stepped out. Kendra heard the door bolt shut and then the wolf was gone.
Just as quickly, or maybe it took a while— she couldn’t really tell, the door was opened, and two maids stepped in, rapidly locking the door behind them. They shot Kendra a worried look as she hurled her guts out once more and groaned painfully, but rather than come to her side and her aid, they both walked towards the large, heavy armoire in the room and painstakingly dragged it over to the door, using it further bolt the door shut.
“W-what are you doing?”
“The Alpha Silvercrest is completely out of control, milady. Lady Aiyisha asked us to do this.” One of them replied.
Oh.
This was going to be hell.
*****
“KILLIAN! YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN!” Aiyisha screamed through all the roaring. It was a wise decision to have come to him with a horde of guards, for it seemed her scent annoyed his wolf even more. In all things, she was pretty glad that her father’s wing was sound proof and that he wouldn’t hear a single thing.
“KENDRA! MATE! Gods, what in the fuck is happening to me?” His wolf seemed to be fighting him for control, both of them expressing their thoughts out loud in rapid succession, and from the way his eyes had turned silver and his claws were sticking out with fur appearing and then disappearing over and over again on his skin, it was very much obvious who was winning what seemed to be a battle of wills. Guards held the Alpha down, but from the look of things and the strained look on their faces, they weren’t going to be able to hold on much longer. He was too powerful, too overcome with the primal instinct to mate to listen to reason.
But Aiyisha had to do something.
Even if she got hurt in the process, she had to try. Because the last thing she wanted to see or hear, was that Killian had done something he wouldn’t be able to go back from were this moment to pass.
Reason!
She had to figure out a way to get him to see reason. She knew just the perfect way to do that.
“KILLIAN! IF YOU DO NOT CALM DOWN, YOU’LL SCARE KENDRA, AND SHE WOULDN’T WANT TO MATE WITH YOU.” The words seemed to have done the trick, for the roaring stopped and he drastically calmed down. Panting like a dog filled with a strong thirst, he growled, “See Kendra now?” The guards still held on to him, not buying the sudden change.
“Yes, Killian.” Aiyisha soothed, ignoring his caveman-like vocabulary. “You’ll see Kendra now, but first smell her cloth, it’ll calm you down some more.” With those words, she tossed the cloth in his direction, he caught it in a flash, bringing it to his nose and inhaling deeply.
It was working.
With each inhale, the mighty alpha became drowsy and delirious. He could see that something was wrong, but he couldn’t bring himself to stop sniffing the damned cloth. Finally, he passed out on the floor in a heap.
“Is that supposed to happen, milady?” One of the guards asked in trepidation.
“Yes. I dipped the cloth in liquid silver.” She shot them an irritated glare when they gasped in shock at her statement. “It was just a smidge, as you can see, he isn’t dead. Or have you forgotten that I am an animal doctor too? Be Quick. Carry him to my lab and have him chained with silver. I need to make sure that Kendra wants to see him before I let him near her.”

The two maids, Yelena, and Adua felt their hearts skip a beat when they head the loud knock at the door. By then Kendra had passed out from exhaustion and pain.
“Open the door, it’s me.”
They sighed in relief when they recognised the voice, and then with another round of painful tugging and pushing, they got the armoire out if the way and unlocked the door.
“How’s she doing?” The blonde haired woman asked in concern.
“She started to get the chills, milady… and then she passed out.” Selena answered.
“Now we tries to regulate her temperature, ma’am. She’s heat up too much.”
Normally, Aiyisha would correct the girl’s horrible grammar, but today wasn’t one of those days. She neared the sleeping she-wolf and checked her vitals. They weren’t lying, even with the cool cloth, her body temperature was at outrageous levels.
And this was just the first day.
Another bout of puke roused the female beta from what was seemingly her saving grace, for no sooner had she thrown up her guts and then some than she started to convulse violently.
Aiyisha feared for the she-wolf’s life in that moment, for she had never met a condition that serious. Being an animal healer, she used to help the town healer as an assistant in her free time. Unfortunately, the older wolf was out of town, and Aiyisha had no idea on what to do.
She was left with only one option:
To get Killian in here.
But she was wary of what that might do as well… nevertheless, it wasn’t as if she had any other choice. “I’m going to get Killian, Kendra… because at this point I have no idea what to do… I have never seen a case this serious. None of our pain soothing herbs seem to be working.” Just as she turned to leave, Kendra grabbed her with the last bit of strength she had and placed an opal colored rock in her palm. “Call for Morgana,” were her last words before she passed out again.
Aiyisha stared at the rock in confusion.
Call for Morgana.
How in the fuck was she going to do that?
Wait scratch that, first off… who in the hell was Morgana anyway?
Did Kendra want her to use the rock? But that did not even make any sense.
Wait.
What if it was a magic rock?
A summoning Stone of sorts?
She had heard of those. Never in her life had she expected to see one in person.
How did it even work anyway?
The blonde haired wolf dropped the rock to the ground, even as the two maids watched her in fascination.
Nothing happened.
“Maybe try rubbing it?” Yelena suggested humbly. Aiyisha shot her a silent look, her blue eyes asking everything she wasn’t.
Would that even work?
Despite her unquestionable doubt, she nevertheless bent down to reach for the opal colored rock, and then saying a silent prayer to whoever cared to listen, she gently caressed the rock that perfectly fit in the middle of her palm.
At first nothing happened, Aiyisha turned to shoot her maid an amused look, but then a sudden bright blue light emanated from the rock, so brilliant in its illuminance that the blonde haired girl dropped the stone in fear. The light turned into a square box, and then suddenly they all heard loud and clear,
A woman’s melodious voice.
“Kendra? I didn’t think I’d be hearing from you this soon?”
“Morgana?” Aiyisha stepped close to the box for a closer look, coming face to face with the stunning witch with silver hair. A gasp escaped her lips, “You’re the silver witch.” It wasn’t a question, rather a mere statement of a fact. One that had the woman in the box chuckling in amusement. “So they call me, Aiyisha von Sterling. A pleasure to meet you.” She cooed in her melodious voice.
Aiyisha could only stare with her mouth open.
“Where is Kendra, child?” She asked, looking around curiously. You see the witch was all knowing, but she only knew what the gods chose to reveal to her, and whatever this was had not been shown to her yet. All she knew was that the girl was in probable danger. That much she could sense.
“We have no idea what is happening to her ma’am, but I suspect that she’s going into heat.”
“I see.” Came her reply, all traces of a smile gone from her face. “Turn the stone so I can see her.” Aiyisha did exactly as the woman had commanded. She looked young, oh so young, but something told her that she was much older than she looked.
If only she knew just how old.
Morgana took one glance at the comatose woman and nodded approvingly. “You are right, child. That is a perfect diagnosis. She is in heat— the only way that the moon Goddess can get her stubborn arse to do her bidding it seems.”
Aiyisha couldn’t help but agree with the woman there. “S-so how do we help? What do we do to help her through this unbearable pain?”
“Oh that part’s easy,” The silver witch said with a flip of her hand, “Just lock her up in a room with the Alpha… that should do the trick.”
