All through the night, Killian made sure to deliver on his promise to his mate… made sure to rock her world, made her know who she really belonged to.
And she did same.
The night had been filled with nothing but endless pleasure as they both discovered each other’s bodies, and oh how filling and beautiful it had been.
To be very honest, it seemed as though something had shifted between them. They could sense each other in ways they hadn’t before— in ways they didn’t quite understand. They seemed… more connected, more in sync than ever before.
It was scary, just as much as it was exhilarating.
“Do you think all that rutting is responsible for this new change?” Kendra asked in the morning, the third day. What was supposed to be the last day of her heat as she traced patterns across the Alpha’s chest.
Her mate.
He had woken her up gloriously, his mouth on her slightly sore pussy a balm of sorts as he pleasured her senseless, an act truly more effective than words.
Killian chuckled in amusement as his mate mused out loud. He really didn’t care what had sparked the change, for he found that he quite liked the change, actually.
Being able to sense Kendra’s feelings was truly a beautiful way to understand this amazing, special woman that she was.
He had been awake for most of the night while she slept, starring at her mesmerising beauty, making sure that even her very breaths were as consistent as they needed to be. He knew it was creepy as hell, but for the love of him, he hadn’t been able to bring himself to stop. She looked so divine lying there, claimed by sleep’s embrace, magnificent, emanating vibrance even though she was tired, her waist length curls a mess that was completely sprawled on her pillow and a little bit on his, her mouth slightly open as she occasionally said something incoherent in her sleep.
He had sensed a certain uneasiness, one that it seemed had stemmed from a nightmare of sorts, and she had actually confirmed this when she had woken up after his erotic ministrations.
He was so overcome with the need to protect this beautiful woman that the moon Goddess had given him, his second chance at finding love, something that had been denied him since birth. Truly, it was amazing how the selection was made. Selene had not gone far in choosing, she had actually given him someone right under his roof, right under his nose. Someone he was most comfortable with… someone he had always admired from afar, content with the fact that she was never going to be anything more than a friend in his life.
Oh, how he had been saved indeed.
For it seemed as though the curse had been broken.
Wait, that was it!
The curse had been broken!
It all made sense now, for Killian realised that the lonely feeling that used to plague him before… that feeling of solitude that had haunted him in days past, the very one that had drawn his siblings, Adrian and Antigone into ending their own lives was no more. He felt free, he felt warm…
He felt… loved.
There used to be this emptiness in his soul that was finally filled, filled with the constant reminder that for the rest of his life, he was never going to be alone.
The realisation made him just as curious as his mate now, for what at all could have caused this very sudden paradigm?
He explained how he was feeling to her, finding that he couldn’t seem to hide anything from her now— no scratch that— that he didn’t want to hide anything from her anymore.
“You really don’t think it has to do with all of our activities last night?” Kendra pressed once more, making the Alpha contemplate if that could possibly be the case.
He shrugged. “While it truly was amazing and almost otherworldly, I do not think it responsible for our current predicament, Ken,” He mused after a moment of silence. “For if that were to be the case, I’m pretty sure other couples would have experienced it too… they would have mentioned it by now,” He rubbed her shoulder absentmindedly as they cozied up in bed, both fully awake, but neither wanting to leave their warm, tiny bubble.
Kendra was quick to disagree though, “I think you’re forgetting a little something, Kill… that we’re not exactly your average regular couple.”
“I guess when you put it like that, you do make a lot of sense,” The Alpha agreed finally, fully turning to face his mate, the action making him notice something that he hadn’t before.
The bite mark on her neck, right where her neck ended and her shoulder began.
He had done that. But why in the hell was it not healing?
The fact made him sit up in alarm as he scooped her up as well, leaning in to take a closer look. “Are you in pain?” He asked, suddenly perplexed.
“What? N-no? Why are you asking?” Kendra’s confusion was very much evident as her mate fused over her, for she didn’t understand why he had suddenly become like that.
“Are you sure you aren’t in any pain at all?” The Alpha pressed, still unconvinced as he stared at the offending mark, so dark that it almost looked like a tattoo of sorts. Almost.
“Is there something on my neck?” Kendra reached out to caress the area his gaze seemed fixated on, but she couldn’t feel a thing.
“I’m afraid I bit you during our lovemaking.” Killian finally confessed. “ But it’s not healing, Ken. Can you sense your wolf?” The Alpha was almost losing it.
“Yes. I can sense her, but if you must know I bit you too during our lovemaking, she turned his head to the side to inspect her handiwork, her suspicions confirmed. “Yours is still there too.”
“You had bitten me too?” The Alpha couldn’t recall anything like that happening in all the time they had had sex.
“Yeah. I cannot really remember when, but I remember that I just suddenly had this uncontrollable urge to sink my teeth into your neck,” The female-Beta explained, causing the Alpha to freeze.
The same thing had happened to him too!
“Wait, what if that’s what is causing all of these new feelings and sensations?” He asked her.
“You think it is?”
“I mean why not? It’s not as if anything else makes sense anyway, you know?”
Kendra thought long and hard about Killian’s words, her eyes lighting up after a moment. “You know, I think you just might be right after all. I read somewhere that full wolves bite their mates to complete their mating process. Maybe the same thing happened to us too?”
Killian had no idea, but he was willing to bet his last penny on that fact being the reason, and so he nodded.
“Are you hungry?” He asked after a moment. Kendra shook her head in the negative.
What I really need is a cold bath to ease this soreness I’m feeling down there.
Killian was off the bed in a instant, the look on his face truly murderous. But she wasn’t the one he was angry with? He was angry with himself. “I hurt you during our love making?”
“What? No! No. Why would you think that?”
“You just muttered something about how you needed a cold bath to your soreness.”
Kendra’s eyes opened wide in horror, “I didn’t say it out loud, Kill… I thought it. You heard my thoughts.”
But how was that possible?
“I’m pretty sure you said that out loud,” The bronze coloured Alpha insisted.
“And like I said, I did not. Tell you what, let’s try again and see something.”
So when are they coming to open the door?
“I don’t know, probably in the—” He cut himself off as the revelation dawned on them both. “No way!”
“You can read my mind too in addition to all of this? What again is there?” Kendra mused out loud, an almost hysterical chuckle escaping her lips as she began to pace, not even caring that they were both naked as the day they were born. Thing was, perhaps, that initial nervousness had already passed hence her unconcern.
Kendra barely recalled when she had gotten out of bed even, but could you really fault her? This was a truly serious matter.
It seemed the consequences of their official mating were just fucking getting started!
“Do you think you can read mine too?” Killian asked, the question rousing her from her musings. “I don’t know, let’s give it a try.” She replied.
The Alpha stared at her, long and hard.
“Have you already thought something out? Because if you did, I didn’t catch it. But how is it that you can hear my thoughts and I cannot hear yours? This is so unfair.” The questions were repeated in quick succession, he didn’t even know where to start answering from.
I haven’t even started, Ken. You’re so impatient.
“Oh, sorry about that,” The she-wolf apologised sheepishly, her cheeks heating up in a blush. “You can start now.” She said, taking in a deep breath.
The Alpha chuckled in amusement. I have started, Ken… everything you have been hearing from me so far is me sharing my thoughts with you, love.
“Oh.” She really had nothing else to add to that, finding that she was in a bit of a shock after all.
“Now back to your soreness,”
Kendra rolled her eyes at his over protectiveness. “It’s just because I haven’t been this stimulated before, it’ll go away by the time I’m done with my bath,” She could tell that he wasn’t convinced by her attempt to assuage his fears, and so she wasn’t really surprised when he scooped her up bridal style and headed for the bath chamber.
“I’ll clean you up myself,” He said gruffly, but she was quick to refuse.
“That won’t be necessary, truly… I can do it myself.” It was funny how just yesterday, she had thought she wouldn’t see the light of day because of how intense her heat had been. She wasn’t experiencing anything now. And she was pretty sure all that lovemaking had something to do with that.
“Must you always be so hard headed, Ken?” Killian muttered pointedly, a mischievous gleam in his eyes as he placed her in the wooden tub.
“And must you always be so commanding, Kill?” She threw right back, her head lifted haughtily, a small smile coating her lips. “I can do this all by myself,” She insisted quietly,
“I know that,” The Alpha without a pack agreed even as he went down on his knees and grabbed the sweet smelling, pain soothing, mint filled oils, “But I just want to do this for you, Ken. I just want to take care of you, so let me do this… please,”
There was just something so raw, something so throat-knotting about the moment— a whole Alpha… young, powerful in his own right, reduced to his knees with the sole desire of ensuring her comfort and ease that had tears forming in the female beta’s eyes.
She felt honored, felt overcome with love for this man who was half man, half wolf… this man who was the yin to her yang, the one who fit her so perfectly that it almost seemed as though the moon Goddess had stitched him, tailored him just for her.
Her very own balance.
She was so inundated with the feeling that the tears tumbled down her face, her mouth mute but her beautiful brown eyes saying it all, saying everything her mouth couldn’t.
I love you, Killian.
Her soul spoke to his, and he heard it loud and clear, his own heart warm with the heat of her confession. How he had heard it all even when she hadn’t said a thing was never going to stop amazing him.
He wiped the tears off her face, his own blue eyes looking at her in adoration and adulation, even as his fingers softly caressed her folds, clinically this time, with the sole intention of easing her discomfort, and yet, it didn’t stop the little tremors of pleasure from shooting up all over her body.
“I love you too, Kendra.” He whispered right back, his soft, soothing voice muffled against the noisy slosh of the the cold, oil-filled water.
But she heard him.
